Chapter 14

They all went back to the Cullen's home and Jacob went to get Lucas David was pleased to meet his son and very happy that Emmett and Rosalie were good parents to him. After a few days he left.

Liz let the family know about Steve and Alice was going to plan a great party for Liz.

The Cullen's turned the study in a bedroom for Liz in about two days. They got her set up to go to school at the tribal school and by the weekend Alice had a party set up.

Not the whole pack showed up but a few of them did. It surprised Liz that Leah, Sam and Emily showed up for the party and the entirety of Jacob's pack as well as Sue and Charlie.

Steve was amazed at the beauty of the Cullen's and wolves and the Cullen's home. They all seemed to like him.

The Cullen's bought Liz a silver 2007 hard top mustang California special Convertible.

Charlie said "just remember to keep it to the speed limits."

Liz chuckled and said "don't worry I will."

Charlie asked "Have you decided where you are going to college in the fall."

Liz said "I haven't but I have applied to a few. I am still waiting to hear back from them."

Sue asked "where have you applied to?"

Liz said "they are all good schools for different reasons. I have applied to Harvard, Oxford, Texas A&M, Alaska, Florida, C.Q.M., Julliard, Toshira and UC Davis. Like I said they are all good schools for different reasons."

Carlisle said "they are vastly different in what they teach and spread throughout the world. Liz what do you want to study?"

Liz smiled and said "Everything. I just don't know what I should begin with. Art, Music, technology, medicine, Science, religion, Sports, literature, Astronomy. I just don't know once I decide it will be easier to know what school to choose. I have been leaning toward Toshira and Juilliard more then the others."

Steve asked "what do they teach?"

Liz said "Toshira is the best for technology and is located in Japan and Juilliard is the best performing arts and is located in New York. Simply to be accepted to them is a great honor. Oxford and C.Q.M. are in Great Britain they are rather hard to get in as a foreigner."

Leah asked "What is C.Q.M.?"

Liz said "College of Queen Mary it is in Scotland."

Emmett said "all of the colleges are special for one reason or another except Florida. Why are you considering that?"

Liz said "Florida is the biggest party school in the US."

Sue said "well you can check that off your list. You are not going there."

Liz smiled and asked "are you going to stop me?"

Sue smiled back at her and said "Yes I am. I am your aunt and I am not going to let you waste your time, money, and safety just to go party for the next 4 years."

Liz hugged her and said "thank you for carrying about me."

Sue hugged her back and said "we are family and someone has to look out for you."

Liz asked "Why doesn't Leah come with me once I decide. She is smart enough and I'm sure if we search hard enough we can find a scholarship or grant for her. She is native, female and the daughter of a veteran there is bound to be something she qualifies for and we can keep an eye on each other."

Leah said "you are crazy I could never get into any of those schools you have to be a genius or super talented and rich."

Liz said "You are talented and smart and we can figure something out about the money. I know you want to get out of here this would be the perfect opportunity. Sam and Emily will get married this summer then you can go off to school. As for our little anger issues I think Meditation and Yoga could help a lot. Have you ever tried Tie Chi it is kind of a combination of both. It is also a good way to stretch out before dancing."

Steve said "Liz I think Juilliard would be best for you but probably not for Leah. What is it you want to study Leah?"

Liz asked "Yeah Leah if Money wasn't an issue what would you want to do?"

Leah shook her head and said "this is stupid what is the use of talking about it if it isn't going to happen?"

Liz said "it might happen you never know. So when you grow up what do you want to be."

Leah said "fine I want to be a lawyer."

Liz smiled and said "that is awesome and absolutely perfect. Columbia has a great law program and it is in New York too. The 4 of us could get a place together."

Leah asked "What do you mean the 4 of us? Who else is coming?"

Liz said "don't worry they won't take up to much space."

Edward laughed and said "Liz I think you should tell them."

Liz said "well Steve will be starting Culinary school in New York this fall so he will be staying with us."

Leah said "that is only 3 who will be the 4th? Are they male or female?"

Liz said "yes. One or the other or it could be both most likely not but it could be. I'm afraid it is too early to tell we will have to wait to find out."

Rosalie giggled and said "your pregnant."

Liz said "I think so. I'm late."

Leah frowned and said "Liz that isn't why you are late it is connected to our anger problem."

Liz asked "are you sure. I was kind of looking forward to it I know it isn't the best timing but maybe I could keep it this time. It was rather hard to give up the last one but it had to be done and I don't regret it but I was hoping I could keep this baby."

Nessie asked "you have a baby?"

Liz said "I did but I gave him to two wonderful people who couldn't have a baby of their own now they all love each other very much. Maybe when he gets a little older they will tell him how he became their son and that he has two mothers that love him more then anything even more then grizzly bears. But right now he is too little to understand."

Rosalie said "yes when he gets a little older he will be told."

Carlisle said "Liz we can find out for certain if you are pregnant or if you have the same problem as Leah with a simple test."

Liz sighed and said "alright just keep your needles away from Steve."

Carlisle said "if Steve would like to give me a sample that is up to him but I think we should find out whether or not you are pregnant."

Steve said "I hate to ask this Liz but if you are pregnant who is the father?"

Liz said "you are I'm only a few days late."

Steve asked "you aren't angry I asked."

Liz said "of course not we haven't been together very long and I did have sex with you on our first date for all you know I could be that way with everyone. I just like you a lot. The first time we met I had to get to know you and be with you."

Steve said "I don't know what you see in me but I am happy you do."

Liz said "How could I not you are amazing and there are a lot of things I want to tell you about but I don't want to rush things and scare you away. But I will tell you this I want to be with you forever and forever is longer then you think."

Carlisle said "Liz now is not the right time for this conversation come to my office so I can test you."

Carlisle and Liz went to his office once the door was shut he asked "Do you really want to be with him forever?"

Liz said "yes I do but I won't ask you to change him unless he wants it done once I explain everything to him. As far as I know he will run as far and fast from me as he can. To humans we are monsters after all. Now lets find out if I have a bun cooking or not. If I do that makes me different in one more way. Is it true Leah can't get pregnant?"

Carlisle said "from what I know about the wolves then yes as long as she keeps changing into her wolf. Most likely when she stops she will be able to, once she starts aging again."

Carlisle took a blood sample and urine test both came back positive.

Carlisle said "congratulations but you do know Steve isn't going to understand how you will be able to give birth to a full term baby in two months."

Liz said "I guess I'm going to have to tell him about us earlier then I thought. But I can't do it while Charlie is here he doesn't really know about immortals."

Carlisle said "we can do it together."

Liz said "I don't think he is going to buy the we are different or special without further explanation."

Carlisle said "lets tell everyone the good news."

They left the office and returned to the living room.

Liz said "well Leah you are wrong we aren't exactly the same because I am pregnant and according to Carlisle you will be able to get pregnant too later."

Liz went to Steve and said "You are going to become a father. I think there are some things I need to tell you about me and my family. They are going to be hard to believe but I am going to need you to keep an open mind. I am not like anyone you have known before. In fact I am not like anyone that has ever existed before. I am mostly like Nessie and of course Lucas but even they aren't completely like me. Nessie is like my biological half siblings and Lucas's biological father is normal but I am different then they are because of my biological grandfather. He was a Uley one of the Quileute's. That makes me a little different."

Steve said "Liz it doesn't matter to me what your ancestry is you are the most amazing person I have ever met."

Liz said "shut up and let me finish I'm not trying to give you a history lesson I'm trying to explain a medical issue to you. One that is genetic. You see Nessie and Lucas how old do you think they are?"

Steve looked at the little kids and said "I don't know 2 and 4 maybe."

Liz said "Not even close Lucas is 8 months and Nessie is 4 months. I age the same rate as Nessie does and Lucas ages at twice our rate. Most likely this baby will age at the same rate Lucas does. I carried him for two months before giving birth. Bella like my mother and my siblings mothers carried their babies for one month. By the end of February I will give birth to this baby."

Steve said "you aren't 18."

Liz said "no I'm 6 developmentally I'm 18. I have one more year before I reach maturity and stop aging like my siblings. I will look about 20. There is one more thing that makes me different and maybe it would be best to show you."

Liz made sure she had enough room then she changed into her wolf. Steve just stared for a moment.

Jacob said "Liz isn't the only one that can change into a wolf several of us Quileute's can but she is the only one with the same ageing problem as Nessie and Lucas.

Steve at last said "you are beautiful."

Liz wagged her tail Leah said "she is a stunted little runt that is stubborn and a little freak."

Jacob said "Liz and Leah are the only girls that can change and Liz is the smallest. There is something that sometimes happens with wolves called imprinting when a wolf first sees someone they can imprint it is something like true love only much stronger. It is supposed to be rare but so far 6 of us have imprinted."

Bella said "I thought there was only 5. Sam, Jared, Quil, Paul and You."

Jacob said "and Liz. How else do you explain her instant attraction to Steve. No offense man but you are hardly the hottest guy in the room.

Liz growled at Jacob Jasper said "Liz control yourself you don't want to hurt anyone."

Steve said "It is alright Liz I know I'm not the best looking guy here."

Liz rubbed her head against him and whimpered Edward said "she thinks you are. She is madly in love with you."

Steve said "I'm pretty mad for her myself. But there is something she said that I think I must have misunderstood."

Carlisle asked "What was that?"

Steve said "well Liz said in about a year she is going to stop aging forever and earlier she said she wanted to be with me forever and that forever was longer then I knew. What did she mean by that?"

Everyone looked around at everyone Charlie stood up and said "I think it is time that I should leave. Happy birthday Liz and congratulations on the baby."

Charlie left.

Liz changed into herself and said "thanks Charlie."

Liz sat on Steve's lap and Esme covered Liz's naked body with a blanket.

Steve asked "why did he leave?"

Bella said "Because Charlie doesn't want to know anymore then he has to know about us. Everything Liz already told you he knew about or had a pretty good idea about. But what Liz is about to tell you he doesn't know and doesn't want to know."

Liz said "When I said I won't age forever I meant just that I won't get any older unless I'm killed. I will never die. I will become immortal. Nessie will as well once she reaches maturity. We aren't sure about Lucas he most likely will just live a very long life. You see the Quileute's are shapeshifters it is genetic a recessive gene of sorts that activates when people like the Cullen's and my biological father enter the area. In the past the packs have been small only about 3 at a time the Black, Uley and Ateara blood lines. The descendants of the original wolf shapeshifter. As long as they change they don't age. But when they stop changing they go back to aging again. The Cullen's and the others like them are different you see when they are changed they stop aging forever. That is why they look different ages. Carlisle is the eldest he was changed in the 1600's at the age of 23. Through the years he changed Esme, Edward, Rosalie and Emmett. Alice and Jasper joined the family together already changed. When Bella gave birth to Nessie Edward changed her to save her life. I meant it when I said I want to be with you forever but if you don't want to no one will make you change. The change is painful, very painful and the pain is only the beginning of a life time of discipline and control. We are different from others we keep a very strict diet well there is one other family like us we call them cousins. All others see things different then the way we do. But if you wanted to be with me forever we would teach you to control yourself. Well that is what I meant when I said forever."

Edward answered an unspoken question "Don't worry if it comes to that we will take care of it."

Liz said "thank you."

Jacob said "The treaty, we made an exception for Bella to save her life you can't bite Steve there is nothing wrong with him."

Liz said "Jake you are being selfish when Nessie reaches maturity you will be with her forever. Everyone else has a mate all of the other wolves are going to age and die. If Steve doesn't change I will be forces to watch him grow old and die then I will go to the Volturi."

Bella said "No Liz don't even think that."

Liz asked "what would you have me do Bella live my life like Marcus here but not here in a constant state of depression. Or would it be better to go the route of Taha Aki who for all we know is still out there somewhere living as a wolf forever mourning his third wife his true love. The choice is Steve's to make. You all have the original treaty to live by and when my wolf woke Jake made a treaty with me. I could go on the res to be with the pack but no hunting on Quileute land and no killing humans. That was the exact wording of our treaty. Never once did it mention not biting any humans."

Sam said "she is right those were your exact words you said Kill not Bite."

Jacob said "that is because she doesn't have venom. Only male hybrids have venom. It would take a full vampire or male hybrid to change a human. Lucas is only a ΒΌ vampire and he doesn't have venom. All the others fall under the original treaty. So they can't bite them."

Steve hadn't said a word until now "you are all vampires and werewolves and Liz you want me to become a vampire so we can be together forever."

Liz said "Yes Steve this isn't an ultimatum for us to be together if you don't want to change that is just fine. We will have a long happy life together I just wanted you to know the truth and what your options are. But please take your time and think it over it is a very important decision."

Liz got up so Steve could leave she didn't let it show in her face but she could feel through her gift of Empathy the feelings of Disgust and horror.

Edward could hear Steve's thoughts of "get away from these monsters".

Steve left Liz dropped the blanket and turned back into her wolf and ran off into the forest.

Edward said "Jasper and Emmett come on we have to clean this up."

The three of them ran out of the house.

Sam asked "what did he mean clean this up?"

Alice said "Steve didn't take the news that we are vampires well. We have laws that humans can't know about us and we only just had a run in with the Volturi we don't want another one."

Embry asked "your not saying they will kill him are you."

Esme said "no of course not they will simply make sure he will keep quiet about what he learned here."
