Much of what I said in of the Shady Oasis and Bamboo Terrance write-ups, can pretty much be said for the same things I judged those levels on for Desert Ruins from Spyro 3. While it's a level that I have no real big negative opinion and hate on for unlike the other so levels that appeared low in part of the countdown, I feel like nothing of note other then of the occasional frustrating and annoying elements moments at times I had with the level from back when I was younger and now older more into gaming with, makes feel overall in such to Bamboo Terrance and Shady Oasis, another fairly forgettable level out there in of the Spyro PS1 games and nothing worth rewarding and cool to speak of for the level. The biggest problem I had with Desert Ruins in such of what I find it to be just another generic and forgettable level out there in of the series is, with the sloppy gameplay elements of the level.
The main gameplay focus problem of Desert Ruins is that while moving from platform to platform of the level, odd and cheap gameplay antics from the enemies appear annoying often of the level and feel extremely unfair in of the main game design of the level to the player. In such for this is with the scorpion and metal heat man enemies of the level loving to make your play through of the level a world of pain always acting like cheap doo doo heads and landing an attack on you every second you come near contact of them where you felt like you did nothing wrong. The issues I had with the enemy AI of Desert Ruins are some of the most annoying and cheap, I have ever seen from the series.
Another of note of why I do not like Desert Ruins that much is, with pacing time design issues of the level. Due to the fact of how much of the level is surrounded by deadly green ooze, you have to spend some time playing through of the level using your patience and timed skills to get from platform to platform in order to complete the level and for most of the time this does not work out for the better. Why? Because of such, most of the enemies of Desert Ruins surround the main non-ooze sections of the level all over the place and love to make slight screw-ups in your gameplay and bring more unfair gameplay elements taking in place of the level.
As odd as it may seem, I do not outright hate Desert Ruins. I will give the level credit for being a level unlike anything else out there in of the series but in terms of execution, Desert Ruins falls down hard of this as a problem because of the many cheap and annoying gameplay elements taking in place of the level where it's noticeable to any Spyro fan out there. Because of such, Desert Ruins is another fairly forgettable level out there much like other levels that ranked this fairly low in part of my countdown.
