I am sucker for falling in love fast with for Ice / Snow themed like levels of such from any Video Game out there and that includes the multiple like levels of such from the classic PS1 Spyro franchise. With of this, I found Icy Peak from Spyro 3 to be a pretty good level overall with of such of other then of a few minor problems I had with balancing gameplay issues overall at times for Icy Peak with myself playing through from the level when I was younger and from now that I am older playing through of the game, Icy Peak is notable for bringing back great memories to remember by from Spyro 3 and like how I felt overall in of the level other then of a few minor issues that keep Icy Peak out of the Top 50 level section in my countdown, Icy Peak was another just plain fun and rock solid level out there from the series. Not the best sure but, overall Icy Peak was a good level.
The best gameplay elements of the like I enjoyed from Icy Peak overall is, of how unique the level is and how it brings something fresh and cool to the main gameplay design not seen at time, even with of that of Icy Peak from Spyro 3. The main gameplay mechanic of Icy Peak is involving yourself controlling over cannons first appearing from Spyro 2 in the franchise, and using this as such to destroy enemies in the air and to destroy ice like crystal gates blocking the main path of the level of Icy Peak along with blocking other things such as optional whirlwind to take in to explore more and more in of the level design of Icy Peak. I liked how fresh this cannon mechanic was in of Icy Peak of how thanks to how underutilized this was to in the past of the other Spyro games out there.
The biggest problem overall I had with Icy Peak and the reason of such of why I have nearly missing out in the top half section of Spyro levels in my countdown is that, I found the enemies you come across in for most of the time with in of Icy Peak are, some of the most cheapest, annoying and frustrating like gameplay elements I have ever seen from a Spyro level and get to be way to grating on the nerves to handle with.
This of such I am talking about are the ever annoying chinchilla like suicidal weirdo creatures with TNT boxes you come across in for most of the portion of the Icy Peak level. These enemies love to make your life playing through of the level, a pain in the you know what. Once they lock on to Spyro, they love to charge right after of one another as a group, skate across the ice portions of the level they appear in and kill yourself at any rate possible as fast as they can. This is of such a problem as they would often have the TNT chinchillas appear in the level in some of the worst gameplay like situations you had to go and perform in of the level at the most worst of times and I felt the AI for the enemies for Icy Peak were too unfair and of being way too cheap of such to the main game level design of Icy Peak to the player and as such makes up for what I feel is the cheapest and most unfair level in terms of enemy design ever taken from a Spyro PS1 level next to Desert Ruins.
Still, I look beyond past this problem as such because of how everything else of Icy Peak for the most part, is so well crafted that it's hard to look beyond of the enemies in of this level being important to the main gameplay design out there of to Icy Peak and as to the series as a whole. Icy Peak was again, a great level to that overall to the Spyro PS1 series. Not much else to say.
