Preston Ward Condra Ranks All 101 Spyro 1-3 Levels

A project I made when I was 15 years old, during my sophomore year in High School in September 2009. I critiqued and ranked every single level from Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage and Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon in, one consolidated project from worst to best. It doesn't matter if you agree with my opinion or not. All that matters, is that this ended up getting finished.

68. 35: Crystal Glacier

As the countdown slowly moves on, it's getting harder and harder to rank the remaining levels in of the countdown and where to place them as all of these levels are levels that I felt again other then of nitpicking problems to talk possibly for a few of these levels in the countdown, all of them are very special and fun in their own way to the Spyro PS1 series.

Crystal Glacier from Spyro 2 was a great level from start to finish thanks to how fairly unique the main level design was in of the level such as using the Eskimo like so little guys to help you reach platform to platform and also helped with the fact of facing off with unique enemies of the level such as the bunny like creatures that pop out of the snow hiding in of the snow waiting for you to close up on them and attack you. In terms of unique style for a level such as Crystal Glacier, it's not quite the most original level out there but, it's enough to help keep the main level exploration of Crystal Glacier from ever getting boring.

Also helping the fact with for making Crystal Glacier being a very good level in my books is with how it offers some of the most Orb mini-games to take in part of in for Crystal Glacier. I always found the spider cave like mini-game of this level for me when I was younger very unique and as such was the first real level in of this classic franchise that introduced on the player using the Super Fly power-up in fun ways such as using it for not only for the mini-game Orb challenges of the level but, for the full main level design in general.

Crystal Glacier was a great overall. My only real tiny problem I had with Crystal Glacier that keeps this great level from being ranked any higher in my countdown from being great to very great is, with compared to most of the Spyro levels there are left to rank in of the countdown even for those levels from Spyro 1, I felt Crystal Glacier was a little small for my taste for a main level so from Spyro 2. There are multiple levels at the top of my head even from Spyro 1 that are more complex and longer in so then for Crystal Glacier.

While it would of been nice if Crystal Glacier was made larger to help on the level likely to make the main level design of this level more unique and more fun as such for the remaining levels there are left to rank in the countdown I felt that overall nitpicking tiny issues aside, Crystal Glacier was a great level overall.
