Fascinating

Sofia smiled happily as she walked through the castle grounds. It was a glorious spring day, and the kingdom's youngest princess was taking advantage of it by being outside. Birds sang in the trees, and she soon found herself humming their merry melodies along with them. It's always amazing that I can actually understand what they're singing about, she thought with a giggle, reaching up to caress her amulet. It's one of the best gifts my amulet has given me.

The princess's smile widened when she walked around a tall hedge and spotted a familiar figure sitting on a bench under a large, shady tree. She ambled toward the royal sorcerer, who was reading a book and gave no indication that he was aware of her presence. Hoping to garner his attention, she called out cheerfully, "Hi, Cedric!"

"Hello, Sofia," he muttered distractedly. He didn't even glance up at the young woman, who now stood right in front of him.

That book must be really interesting. I wonder if it's new. Finding Cedric with his nose deep in a book wasn't entirely unusual, but he usually acknowledged her presence more, or he would set his reading aside completely and give her his undivided attention. And since she knew he'd read every book in his workshop, she could only assume that the reason he was so engrossed in this particular book was that it was indeed new. Shrugging, she asked, "May I sit with you?"

"If you wish." He turned a page, still not looking up.

Sofia beamed and sat down beside him, arranging her skirt neatly the way she had been taught. For a few minutes, she looked around at the nature around them. The grass was a lush green with sprinkles of white snowdrops here and there. The sky was bright blue with a few fluffy clouds scattered about. Butterflies fluttered about in a nearby flower bed full of brightly colored blooms. However, her attention was soon drawn back to the sorcerer sitting beside her. He was so handsome, even with his nose in a book. She sighed inwardly. If only she could get him to talk to her… "Cedric?"

"Mm?"

"Is that a good book?"

"Fascinating." Another page tuned, and his eyes continued to stare down at the book.

"What's it about?"

"Fascinating."

Sofia paused, blinked, and rolled her eyes. Okay, so clearly she wasn't going to get his mind away from that fascinating book of his. She huffed and folded her arms, wondering if she should just continue her walk and leave him be. She was momentarily distracted when a family of rabbits hopped by; the six little babies stopped to look up at her with their large, bright eyes. She smiled and waved as the little creatures hurried on after their mother before gasping as one of Cedric's arms slipped around her waist and pulled her closer to him. The princess turned a hopeful smile toward her sorcerer, thinking he was finally done reading. However, she frowned when she saw that he still seemed exceedingly focused on his book. "Cedric…?"

"Fascinating."

"Oh, give me that!" Frustrated, she snatched the book from his grasp and tossed it aside.

Before the sorcerer could react, he found himself lying flat on his back in the grass behind the bench with soft, warm lips pressed to his as Sofia lay on top of him, her legs straddling his waist. He couldn't even begin to comprehend how they'd gotten in this very intimate position so fast, but it didn't seem to matter. He closed his eyes and parted his lips, allowing her to deepen the kiss.

When she broke the kiss, Sofia smirked as Cedric blinked dazedly up at her. "I finally got your attention, didn't I?" She giggled and moved to push herself off of him. "Now we can–"

"Hold it!" His arms latched around her waist as he rolled over, pinning her beneath his body. Hoisting himself up on his elbows, it was now his turn to smirk at the surprised look on her face. "I think we'll just stay right here and continue what you started, my mischievous little princess." He grinned playfully as he lifted one hand to tickle her under the chin.

Sofia laughed. "Cedric…" Her laughter soon turned to a soft moan when she felt his lips brushing the bare skin at the base of her neck before moving to her shoulder as he tugged her sleeve down. "Y–Yeah… Let's just… stay here." She reached up and ran her fingers through his hair as she wrapped her legs around his waist.

Cedric's hand moved to caress her side, eliciting a shiver from the princess. He raised his head to gaze down into her beautiful jeweled eyes, so full of love and desire for him. "Fascinating…" he murmured as he lowered his head to capture her lips in a deep, passionate kiss.

A/N: Happy birthday, Nerdi! I hope this story helps make your day special. I came up with the idea a few months ago when a friend (they know who they are) shared a comic on Discord and said they wanted to see Cedfia do what was done in the comic. I added a few things for story purposes. I hope you all enjoyed it, especially you, Nerdi.
