A/N: This is a pilot for a fic I've considered writing. Let me know if I should make this a multi-chapter. This fic is a modern AU.
"Mirabel!"
Isabela's voice shrieked through the forest. The Madrigal grandchildren, minus Antonio, had been in a plane crash. Alma decided it was time to expand their gifts to the rest of the world. The details of the plane crash were fuzzy. Isabela didn't know the extent of her injuries.
Dolores stumbled towards her cousin. She was holding her wrist, and she was bleeding from her head. "Lola," Isabela sighed in relief. She rushed over to her oldest cousin. Isabela started to fret over her visible injuries. She didn't have her mamá's healing powers, but Isabela did know a thing or two about first aid.
"I'm fine," Dolores stuttered. "Where are the others? Where is my brother?"
There was movement in the ruble of the plane. Luisa tossed the piece of metal, trapping her off of her arm. The only injury Isabela could see was a broken arm. "So, that's three of us," Isabela said.
In the near distance, they heard a scream. The three women ran to where the voice was. They found the missing two members of their group. Camilo had managed to pull himself from the rubble. Camilo's leg was twisted and broken. Someone is going to have to reset that. Isabela noted mentally. Camilo pointed to his right, and the site made Isaebla scream.
The lower half of Mirabel was under the plane. Luisa rushed to her, lifting the debris off her younger sister, not caring how much it hurt her broken arm. Isabela pulled out of the ways. There was a gaping hole in her stomach. "Isa," Mirabel gasped.
"You're going to be okay," Isabela promised. Isabela started to tear her dress apart. Mirabel's body went limp. "No. You're not allowed to leave me. You stay awake. Help is coming!"
Mirabel's eyes rolled into the back of her head. Isabela started to perform CPR. It wasn't working. "Wake up," Isabela screamed. "You have to wake up! I can't lose you now! I can't lose you ever!"
"Isa," Luisa started.
"No," Isabela sobbed. "We can't just sit here and let her die! WE CAN STILL HELP HER!"
Three days later, the remaining Madrigals were barely surviving in the woods. Due to their injuries, they couldn't do much. The cousins slept in shifts. They didn't know what to do. Hope came in the form of a helicopter.
All of the cousins screamed for it. They waved their arms in the air if they could. They were relieved as it descended onto the forest ground. A young man they had seen around their home a few times exited. "I got them," Thiago said into his walkie talkie. He gave them a charismatic smile.
"Hi," Thiago said. "Your Abuela sent me. She has every helicopter in the Encanto looking for you. I'm supposed to take you to a medical center, where you will reunite with your family."
"Thank you," Dolores said. She would be crying if she had anything left to cry.
"Wait," Thiago said. His face suddenly grimed. "She said there were five of you."
