Author's Note:
I appreciate all of the encouragement and feedback on the first chapter. Minor editing has been done to improve the story's overall quality and structure, as well as to correct grammar and punctuation errors. I have read all of the reviews and noticed as well that Percy accepted Artemis' adoption a bit too quickly. Sadly, I can not go back a rewrite that chapter with a completely different way Percy is adopted as I have already written too many chapters to change. The first chapter was considered as an introductory chapter to get you used to the characters and plot. In future chapters, however, I will attempt to improve my writing and hopefully slow things down a bit. Beware, this chapter is kind of corny and terrible. I've tried my best to rewrite it. I know Percy doesn't seem like a six-year-old but I seriously can not write him as a small child. The narrator's perspective is quite bad when it comes to consistency and I will try to fix it in the following chapters.

Chapter 1 Summary:
The hunters find Percy and his mother being abused by Gabe. Artemis kills Gabe before fulfilling Sally's request for Artemis to raise Percy. Sally drifts to the underworld as Artemis introduces Percy to the hunters. Percy and the hunters bond before they sleep.

Chapter 2 - Meeting Uncle | October 15th, 1999.

Weeks have passed since Percy had first joined the Hunt and became Artemis' son. Given that he was also Poseidon's son, the situation was tricky. Artemis opted to keep it a secret within the Hunt since if Zeus found out, he would immediately execute Percy on the spot. The Hunt has been traveling across the United States, where they have discovered additional monster attack build-ups. The attacks have been getting fiercer, and the Hunt was wearing out quickly.

Artemis decided they needed to rest before continuing on their trek to other locations where Satyrs had reported monster spikes. The issue was that they couldn't travel to Camp Half-Blood, where they typically rested because Percy had nowhere to go. Outside of the Hunt, no one knew anything about him, and Artemis definitely didn't trust anybody enough to ask them to provide Percy with a place to stay. With few options, the goddess decided to pitch up camp in a more secluded portion of the forest. The location provided everything they need, including a nearby river and gorgeous red trees.

The hunters' relationship with Percy had been progressively developing, with more and more of them becoming accustomed to his company. Percy's archery skills would be honed by Zoe, while close combat would be handled by Phoebe. Percy's training bows, on the other hand, did not seem right. They were either too heavy or too light, and Percy was never able to establish the ideal weight. No matter the complications with his weapons, Percy was still improving his fighting skills drastically. Percy even started experimenting with throwing knives, though both were more for the sake of self-defense than combat effectiveness since Artemis felt that they were too dangerous for a six-year-old to be using. Percy proved to be an excellent close combat fighter, surpassing some of the newer hunters and even the occasional lieutenant. Although, Zoe was using a sword and barely trying.

Artemis would hunt in the woods with Percy while teaching him how to track wild creatures and monsters. They would seek monsters under the guise of a hunting game at times. The mother and son competed in these games, with Artemis always coming out victorious. However, a combination of being a goddess that was extremely skilled and experienced gave her the obvious advantage against a young demi-god.

The majority of Percy's ability stemmed from being the son of Poseidon, as well as being blessed and adopted by the most qualified and experienced Olympian when it came to combat.

With the sun lowering, even though Artemis could summon food with the click of a finger, she attempted to find her son to inform him that they were heading into the forest to hunt for food. This was mostly because she wanted Percy to be able to train his hunting and combat abilities in real-world situations instead of constantly getting beat up by Zoe and the other fellow hunters.

Artemis discovered Percy practicing archery at the archery range, albeit it looked like Zoe was frustrated by his failure to strike the target. She chuckled at Zoe's obvious irritation, while Percy merely smiled at Zoe only to infuriate the daughter of Atlas even more.

Percy dropped his bow and rushed up to embrace his mother when he noticed her. Artemis hugged her son, convinced that accepting the woman's offer was the best thing she'd ever done in her immortal life. The mother and son separated after a few moments. Artemis was the first to break the silence by snapping her fingers, causing both of their hunting outfits to appear on them. Percy grinned as he realized they were going hunting, which was one of his favorite pastimes.

"Mommy, what are we hunting today?" Percy asked with hints of excitement as they walked into the woods.

Artemis smiled as she faced Percy. "We're going to go hunting for food to eat with your sisters." She remarked, smirking slightly. "And while we're at it, we could try to improve your bow-shooting abilities... which means you can only use your bow!"

"Mom!" Percy chided while giving Artemis his puppy dog eyes, "Can I please just use my sword, bows are stupid." He pouted holding the moon charm on his necklace before covering his mouth, eyes wide open comprehending what he just said.

Artemis glared at her son before laughing at his frightened expression causing Percy to flush with embarrassment. When he turned back around, they had already traversed quite far into the forest. Red leaves covered the ground since autumn had just begun. The two continued to walk further in the woods, listening for any signs of movement from the wildlife.

Soon after, they heard a twig snap behind them, causing them to quickly turn around with their bows out. However, instead of the animals they expected, monsters began to emerge from the shadows that surrounded the pair. Tens of hellhounds and empousai armed themselves with weapons and claws, ready to attack.

Percy smiled as he realized he could finally try out a new bow technique Zoe had taught him. He was sick of being beaten by Zoe and getting arrow bruises all over his body. Percy drew his bow's arrow back and waited. He waited and waited... until a hellhound was about to pounce on him, at which point he released the arrow, praying that it would kill the monster.

As the arrow pierced the hellhound's head, golden dust exploded around it. Artemis gave her son a smile before continuing her onslaught of arrows, sniping through each monster with ease and accuracy. Percy's confidence grew, and he began shooting faster and faster, causing golden dust explosions all around them. Throughout the duo's onslaught, one empousa managed to make her way behind both Artemis and Percy, her weapon raised and ready to strike the young boy.

A few moments later, the final monster was dispatched with a single shot. Or, as they believed, the last monster. The empousa who snuck up behind them quickly sank her blade into Percy's shoulder before they could react, eliciting a loud scream of pain as he dropped to the ground.

At the sight of her son being stabbed, Artemis' eyes widened before narrowing with piercing silver heat. "No!" She yelled as she pulled out her striking silver hunting knives and stabbed them directly through the monster's heart, causing it to explode in a cloud of yellow dust. Artemis quickly turned towards Percy and tried to close the wound by sending silver energy within his body. Luckily for them, that seemed to do the trick as Percy slowly got up from the ground and started to cry.

Artemis encircled her son in a tight hug, muttering soothing words into his ears to comfort him. Percy eventually stopped crying and fell asleep in his mother's arms. Artemis smiled happily at him, knowing that he was alright. She transported them back to the hunter's camp in the archery range, where she had first taken Percy. When Artemis arrived, she found Zoe shooting arrow after arrow at the targets, sometimes splitting the previous one in half. Artemis approached her lieutenant quietly.

To say Zoe was upset when she saw the blood on Percy's shirt while he was crawled up in her mistress' arms was an understatement. No, she was frantically and anxiously asking Artemis what had happened to Percy and if he was okay which surprised the goddess immensely.

The onrush of questions would've annoyed Artemis if said questions were about a different subject, however, she knew that Zoe was only worried for Percy and in all fairness, Artemis herself was also extremely worried. After all, Percy was her son and she must keep him safe at all costs.

To alleviate the high level of anxiety in the air, Artemis attempted to persuade Zoe that he was safe and that everything was fine. "Zoe, relax, Percy is fine; it was just a minor encounter with some monsters, which we dealt with. Plus, I healed all of his wounds and scratches after the fight." Artemis comforted the worried young lady.

This appeared to work, as Zoe calmed down and smiled slightly at the sleeping boy. Zoe cared for him despite how annoying he could be and how much he irritated her because he was practically her little brother in the Hunt.

"Let's take Percy to the infirmary, could you stay with him?" Artemis asked as they started walking towards the large medical tent.

"Of course, M'lady," Zoe replied with a quick nod.

Artemis gave her a friendly smile. "Thank you very much, Zoe; please keep me updated if anything happens."

Zoe returned the smile as they continued to walk in silence. When they arrived, the infirmary was empty other than the two of them. Artemis laid Percy down on a bed and created a small chair and some food for Zoe.

"I've summoned food for the hunters, and I'll notify them that you're at the infirmary tent. I'll have to go finish up my responsibilities, and I'll be back by midnight," Artemis said as she walked towards the exit. "You are in charge, for the time being, Zoe." She asserted before leaving Zoe alone with the young boy to care for.

Zoe sighed as she gazed at Percy, who was fast asleep. Sweat dripped down his brow, indicating that he was in a nightmare. Zoe took a towel from a nearby cabinet and soaked it in water before placing it on Percy's forehead.

Zoe reminded herself to ask him later when he woke up about whatever he was dreaming about. Normal people, you see, would simply move on after remembering that it was all a nightmare. However, demigod dreams are far more important and often reveal glimpses of the future.

She pondered a variety of topics while waiting for the young boy to wake up. With all of the monster attacks building up, the great prophecy was surely closing in. The titans were rising, and if no other son or daughter of the big three were born before Percy, he would be the prophecy child. Zoe frowned at the prospect of Percy razing Olympus to the ground. A small voice interrupted her thoughts before she could think any further on that idea.

Percy awoke with his head pounding and a minor ache in his right shoulder. He could see someone sitting next to him, but he couldn't tell who it was in his current state. That is until they said something.

Zoe noticed Percy's eyes flutter open, "I see thou have finally awoken." She said this with a small smile on her face.

"What brings you here, Zoe?" Percy wondered aloud, his gaze drawn to the open flap of the tent, which revealed the sun coming down. "Not that I am complaining, but shouldn't you be eating with the hunters?"

Zoe hadn't realized how much time had passed during her stay in the tent. After looking at the now-cold piece of meat on her plate, she cursed quietly for becoming engrossed in her thoughts. "Obviously, I'm looking after thee... Who knows, maybe thou would have left and ended up in another dangerous situation." She smirked.

"Gods Zoe! You're beginning to sound a lot like my mother." Percy whined and shuddered at the thought.

Percy received a faint glare from the girl, "Whatever, Percy, I'm pleased you're okay." Zoe remarked before becoming solemn. "Don't end up like this again, or I'll be the one causing damage to thy body." She threatened, causing Percy to somewhat cower.

Percy reminded himself not to get on Zoe's bad side ever. Who knew a girl looking like a princess could be so terrifying, he thought to himself, making him smile. "I can't make any guarantees, Zoe; trouble seems to follow me everywhere."

"Just be careful," Zoe said, "the first time thou was harmed, M'lady was racing about the camp in a panic." She laughed at the memory.

Percy's eyes widened before he beamed at how much care his mother had for him. Adoption by Artemis was one of the best things that had ever happened to him throughout the six years he has been alive.

"I should go tell M'lady that thou are awake," Zoe said. "I'll be right back, Percy; don't go anywhere." She said with a slight threat in her voice before exiting the tent into the setting sun.

Time Skip

It had been almost a few hours and Percy was seriously getting bored. Having ADHD was certainly not helping him when he was stuck in a bed with nothing to do. Being the mischievous child he was, Percy took advantage of the situation. He slowly got up from the bed after completely consuming a cup of water, re-energizing himself. The sun had fully set with the moon rising. Percy crept out of the camp and towards a nearby river. Since he was a son of the sea, he had always appreciated the presence of blue waters. His mother had never allowed him to leave the camp without the supervision of Zoe or Phoebe because of the danger his powerful aura posed. Monsters would be able to detect him from a rather large distance away. It was as if Percy's body served as a radio antenna for monsters attempting to assassinate him. It didn't take an expert to guess why Artemis had not granted him permission to travel around anywhere he wanted.

Percy arrived at the water's edge and sat on the soft orange sand. He could hear the nymphs conversing at the river's bottom while he listened to the peaceful sounds of the flowing water and the animals in the forest. Every being around the trees and waters, eyed the prince of the forests with interest. Percy felt at ease when he was in both of his domains: the waters and the forests. This was until he felt a presence behind him, it was familiar and Percy felt like he should know who it was.

Behind him, a blinding hot sensation broke the much-needed silence. Percy turned around quickly, his eyes widening dramatically. A man with piercing blue eyes and sun-kissed hair, as well as a small lyre attached to his waist, was staring at him. Percy recognized the obvious god, eyeing him curiously. Percy had never met his uncle before because Percy himself was still a secret to everyone outside of the hunt.

Apollo gasped when Percy turned around. Two eye colors that Apollo had by no means predicted to see ever in his entire immortal life. Both pupils had striking silver and sea green mixed into them. Each eye, however, was more defined in one of those colors. His right eye was defined by silver while his left eye was defined by green. There was no way Uncle P and my dear sister would have a child right? His eyes burst into a dark angered blue just at the thought. He pushed those mear imaginations away, believing that Artemis would never be able to have a child. He pondered in his mind, "I mean, after all, she was and still is a maiden goddess." It was best to let the kid introduce himself first before jumping to conclusions. The harsh blue color in his eyes faded away.

"Hey kid, what's your name?" Apollo asked him with some suspicion.

"Uhhh," Percy started unsure if it was a good idea to answer the question. His mother had specifically told him not to tell anyone who he was or they would be put in grave danger. The guilt of causing harm to the hunters or his mother was building up to him. However, before he could ponder anymore, a female voice pierced through the thick trees. One that Percy recognized instantly. The same one that told him not to tell anyone who he was. He instantly knew how screwed he was.

As the voice approached, Percy tried to run but it was too late.

"Percy!" His mother breathed a sigh of relief before noticing who was standing next to him, "Apollo?! "What are you doing with my son?" she yelled at her brother, completely unaware of what she had just uttered.

"Hey sis, I was just..." Apollo said before Artemis' words registered in his mind. "YOUR WHAT?" His suspicions were confirmed.

Artemis' eyes expanded to the size of a ufo before she covered her mouth. This was her stance for a few minutes before she decided to make sure her foolish brother didn't tell anyone. But not before at least pretending it was merely a slip of the tongue. "I'm sorry, I meant... I intended to say, superstar! I just recently discovered the child, who was an expert in archery and fighting." She said hoping to fool Apollo.

And it was successful... Almost. Artemis had totally forgotten that her brother was the god of truth and could easily detect if she was lying or not.

Being the overprotective brother that he was. "Explain," Apollo demanded.

"Fine…" Artemis said reluctantly. "But only if you swear to not tell anyone else unless I grant you the permission to."

"I, Apollo, swear on the River Styx that whatever my sister is going to tell me will remain a secret unless she gives me permission to inform others."

Artemis sighed, "His name is Percy and I adopted him about three weeks ago."

"Who's his real parent? I can tell he's a demigod even without your blessing." Apollo said as he studied Percy for a moment making the boy shrink in discomfort.

"I…" Artemis paused looking away for a minute. "His real father is Poseidon." She said slightly nervously.

Apollo gave Artemis a worried look. "Are you aware of the risks you're taking by adopting him?! Uncle P would be furious if he found out..." He said while looking towards a small river nearby, pondering what might happen. The sea was one powerful enemy, there was a reason why Zeus had made the council up of mostly his children.

Artemis paused, lost in thought. Her brother made a sorrowful but accurate point, but there was no turning back now. She couldn't just leave Percy in the woods; she couldn't abandon her own child. That would make her identical to any of the disgusting men she has killed over the years. Plus, what would her hunters think if she told them Percy had been abandoned in the forest? "Of course, I'm aware of the risks, Apollo, but there's no way I'm changing my mind now, and no one, including you, can convince me otherwise."

Apollo sighed, knowing there was no way to persuade Artemis to reconsider her choice. However, there was another alternative he might try, and perhaps Artemis would appreciate it. He turned to face Percy, who was observing their conversation as if it were a tennis match. Apollo's hands created a dazzling gold-colored light that flowed through the air into Percy.

With a stumble, Percy's body felt like it was in flames. A burning sensation coursing through his feet all the way up towards his brain. For the second time in weeks, he let out an agonizing scream of pain.

Artemis rushed towards her son just before he fell to the ground. The consequences of two powerful blessings built up inside him. Artemis shot Apollo a questioning look with narrowed eyes.

The god of healing understood what she was telling him to do instantly. Apollo walked towards her and picked up the still immobilized Percy and sent more golden energy into him. This time, however, the powerful beam was a calmer and warmer shade of gold instead of the harsh bright color it was when Percy received the blessing.

Within a few seconds, the pain in Percy's body faded and was replaced with soreness. He jumped out of Artemis' arms and onto his feat wobbling slightly. His errored balance was quickly corrected by Apollo who stabilized him instantly.

Before speaking, Artemis gave her brother a stern look. "Apollo," she said with a dangerous tone, "could you please explain what that was?"

Apollo let out a chuckle and smirked slightly. "Well little sis, I just made your son over here", he emphasized the word 'son' as he pointed towards Percy, "my champion." Apollo finished with a smug expression on his face making Artemis almost punch him for the look and for calling her his 'little sis'. "Oh, and also I almost forgot," Apollo turned and faced Percy before summoning a golden bracelet with both the moon and sun engraved in it, "You can tap the bracelet and let it transform into a bow which is blessed by me making it awesome." Apollo said handing the jewelry to Percy."

Percy was hesitant to accept the gift, but after a slight nod of approval from his mother, he put it on and tapped it. It transformed into a swift bow with gold and silver streaks, as Apollo predicted. The weight was just right, and the grip seemed to adjust to Percy's small hands perfectly. He fired on a random tree in an attempt to test and shoot the majestic weapon, causing the tree to burst into flames. However, Apollo and Artemis quickly extinguished the flames before they could spread. The arrows replenished themselves, as when he fired the first one, another appeared in the bow's strings almost instantly. Percy surprised his Uncle Apollo with a happy smile and said, "Thank you, Uncle Apollo!"

"No problem, kiddo," Apollo said, smiling. "Now be careful where you aim that thing because it is certainly one powerful weapon."

Percy nodded before Artemis put a hand on his shoulder and flashed him back to camp to face an angry-looking Zoe Nightshade.

Artemis asked her brother a question that was obvious but she wanted to double-check. "Why?"

"Well, isn't it obvious sis?" Apollo laughed again. Artemis simultaneously glared at him wiping the laughter out of him. "Perry or Peter?" He thought as he stroked his non-existent beard for added effect. "Whatever, I thought your son might need some assistance when you finally tell Uncle Poseidon that you adopted him. I had a feeling you'd need some help when revealing to arguably the most powerful Olympian that you practically stole his son." Apollo said this while wearing a golden smile on his face.

"I did not steal his son, as you so kindly put it," Artemis glared at Apollo causing him to flinch. "When I saw his son being beaten by a stupid male, I simply decided to help Percy." She snarled before becoming more thoughtful. "Plus, what if Uncle appreciated that I saved his son," Artemis muttered.

Apollo's smile faltered, "C'mon little sis-", however, before he could finish his sentence, he was slapped in the face by an enraged Moon goddess. "As I was saying, Artemis, you know that's highly unlikely. Uncle P has been muttering about a child in previous council meetings and he appears to be looking for Perry, but your blessing on the hunters' camp greatly reduces his scent."

Slap! Apollo's eyes widened in surprise as he looked at Artemis. Artemis returned his stare with a stern glare. "Percy, not 'Perry' or 'Peter,'" she scolded before softening her expression. "I suppose you're correct, Apollo. Only time will tell, but let's hope the Fates aren't up to anything too dangerous." Artemis let out a sigh. It can be extremely difficult to face reality.

Apollo responded with a nod before vanishing into another random bar, most likely in search of a girl too, well, you know where this is going.

Artemis sighed again, her gaze falling on the spot where her brother had once stood. Even though she despised agreeing with him, the idiot was correct. She'll have to prepare and face the consequences eventually, but for now, all she can do is wait for the right moment to reveal the truth. Let the Fates stitch their way into the future.

Author's Note:
Thank you for taking the time to read the second chapter. I'm aware that the dialogue can be corny and rough at times, but I'm doing my best. Any constructive criticism will be welcomed, and any 'flaming' will be ignored. It's also nice to get feedback and get ideas. If you like the story, please follow and favorite it! I took so long to post this chapter because I had to rewrite the majority of it because the first draft was so bad. Chapter 3 will be available in the coming days or weeks.
