Sasuke the Bounty Hunter, willing to chase down anyone for the right price. Or at least that's what they said about him. You see, while drifting between villages and hunting bounties, the residents of those villages would make up rumors about him. Like "He lost his left arm while hunting down the basilisk" and "The reason why he rarely speaks is because he lost his vocal cords during a scuffle".

None of these trues, but there's barely any entertainment besides people in the rural parts of the land. So they make do with their imagination. Sasuke inadvertently made himself the Empire's countryside "Robin hood". Did Sasuke hear a word about about this? Nope...

Anyways, when Sasuke arrived at the gates of the Capital. He was impressed of the scale of it. It was massive, each building made of bricks. Huge walls and narrow walkways made the Avenger claustrophobic.

While walking down the road, he stumbled upon drunks asleep in alleyways and on sidewalks, malnourished orphans looting the pockets of the unwary, street urchins watched him like a hawk to scout if he was an easy lick or not. One even attempted to rob him at knife point in an alley, but a hardened glare and and a small genjutsu made him run away. No doubt to warn his clique about cloaked raven haired man.

The more that Sasuke walked, the more of that dirty Capital he saw. Deciding that he saw enough, he entered the nearest tavern. He wasn't interested about the drinks or pretty women who keep eyeing him but instead Sasuke needed info. So he sat down in a corner booth back against the wall; ordered a drink and sat there. Watching and listening for anything unique.

"Man that Esdeath general has been really harsh on us"

"...yeah ever since that victory against those barbarians..."

New info: "Esdeath is a celebrated General for the Imperial Army"

"Bro you hear what happened to those nobles on Juhon Street?"

"Ye, I heard that Night raid hit them..."

New info: "Night raid is an assassin group targeting the Empire's nobles and high ranking officials"

Esdeath was walking towards the "Rabbit Hole Tavern" she got a tipped that a certain raven haired bounty hunter has been spotted in the city. She had heard such rumors about this man about being insanely strong to being extremely kind

When she arrived at the tavern, she had a look around. Noticing him in a booth facing the door. She sat herself at his table and introduced herself.

"My name is General Esdeath and I wish to give you an offer"

The man stared at her blankly before opening his mouth to say.

"I am Sasuke, what's this offer?"

"I want you to be a member of my elite"

"Elite, you say? What's in it for me?"

They spent a solid 30 minutes discussing his salary, his services and what not. Sasuke ultimately said no sort of, instead he wanted to be a hitman, a shadow if you will , she'd pay him in money and let him use her connections in exchange for being the person she'd used to do all sorts of legal grey zone and criminal work, doing assassination of officials she didn't like and what, with the right to refuse the job if he wanted.

-2 year Time skip- Sasuke is about 31-

Sasuke and Esdeath's contract evolved through time. One point Esdeath would pay him to go do something, he'd do it. But now they just keep in contact with on another with Sasuke being a spy contact.

While Sasuke was once again in a small village investigating a lead. Using Esdeath as his way of getting his foot in the door, he's set up a proper information network. He no longer needs the blue haired general but doesn't he doesn't want to end the "give and take" relationship with her since she is a high ranking military member. She still has use.

Shaking his head, his mind drifted towards the investigation at hand. For some reason he found an rather old Konoha Leaf Protector. Judging on the serial number stamped on it, it was made before the 3rd great shinobi world. Finding this means that there was other shinobi from the Elemental Nations. Although this was the only one he's found. He has found mentions of feats of chakra but these books were authored before the first Emperor came into power. So exaggeration was to he expected, but every story has a root and every lie has truth.

Before he can dwell on this anymore, a loud squawking sound was heard. Looking up into the sky, only to see the flying noisemaking rat Esdeath seems to prefer to send messages with. He held out his forearm and the pigeon landed on his arm. Sasuke untied the paper roll attached to his leg and set the bird on the ground. The note read

"I need information against night raid, do this and I'll get you in contact Marquis Haruki"

Sasuke read the message and flipped the paper and found a little note left by one of Esdeath's little soldiers, "Jaegers" she calls them

"Mr. Sasuke, you like the bird? I named it 'Kai', also when are you gonna visit again? Smile :)"

"She really wrote 'Smile'? Weird kid" Sasuke said aloud.

The bird chirped in agreement

RANT A/n OK so i did say that Sasuke was gonna work with Esdeath as a spy. Some people were concerned that Sasuke was gonna become a toe licker but I tried to avoid it and I was like im not bout to write a whole ass slice of life section with Sasuke and Esdeath on a mission. It was kind of tough trying to link the two characters. You might ask "you said sealmaster sasuke where he at" Bro you have any idea how hard it is to convey a seal master like Jiraiya is a "seal master" but seal master is barely a title anyways in the series. SO that being said imma probably gonna have Sasuke be like "your sword got powers? Hold on gimme some ink so I can make mine absorb the power of God" Totsuka Blade type beat. Anyways hope you enjoyed.
