What did he mean Harry's childhood has not been a normal one ? James thought Harry's childhood might be without him and Lily but he would still have friends and magic to depend on or-or if something bad happened ? No , James shouldn't think like that.
James looked up at the headmaster with a definite gaze.
"Tell us" demanded James holding lily tightly
"Very well' said Dumbledore "harry came to hogwarts many years ago not A pampered prince neither as well nourished as i wanted him to be"
"What do you mean"shrieked lily "what did they do to her?"
" please let me continue" said Dumbledore politely , while lily felt silence
"They didn't tell him about magic so it was all new to him, the first time he walked in the great hall was the first time I saw him. He met his three best friend soon after"
Then Dumbledore stopped
"Go on…" said lily
"I dont think harry will want you to know this' said Dumbledore lily raised her head and shouted at him " please lily seeing from Harry's point of view he would not like you to know of his childhood , it was painful for him once i made him recapitulate the events of 4th year to him . It will be painful for him to recap a lot of years"
James was angre, very..angry! Dumbledore wasn't telling them everything about harry which they needed to know . He wanted to shout on him .
" TELL ME!" James screamed
Lily looked silently at her husband , she had never expected James to disrespect someone before .
" You have every right to be angry at me but Harry wouldn't want you to know , you can ask Harry for it . But i warn you it will cause emotional breakdown unless you don't want that" said Dumbledore quietly
" Can we stay in hogwarts?" Said james definitely as not wanting 'no' for an answer
Dumbledore looked up and then after a few moments Said
"You have every right to stay in hogwarts but given the circumstances people believe you to be dead , it will shock them if they see you roaming around in the halls which i am sure you couldn't resist in doing after 14 years"
" we will be careful" answered james quickly
"James" said Lily, turning to James ' ok Dumbledore we will not stay in hogwarts but could you please let us see harry tomorrow?"
"You can see your son…but not right now."
"But-'
"Harry also expects you to be dead , he will not take it very nicely when he sees you alive . He has been through a lot , as parents you have every right to see him , but he will only take it as a mean joke" said Dumbledore
James desperately wanted to see Harry but Dumbledore's explanation made sense. He wanted to see Harry; he didn't care what the old men said. He just wanted to meet him to hug him to tell him everything will be all right now that they are back.
Dumbledore lifted his wand and pointed it to a cattle
"Portus" Dumbledore cried softly
The cattle glowed blue and then turned normal
"This,'' said Dumbledore gesturing to the cattle, " will take you to our hideout . I will warn you , you might found Sirius there but make sure not to reveal yourself as it will be the same case of harry with him"
Lily looked unsure for a second then asked
" When can we reveal ourselves to harry?"
" i will see" said Dumbledore kindly
Lily seem to be satisfied with the answer but james answered
" What do you mean you'll see , just let us see Harry tomorrow !"
" james!" Cried lily " Dumbledore explained to us please calm down"
James looked unsure and the nodded, Dumbledore told them to hold the portkey and like that both lily and james teleported in grimmauld 12 place.
