She hated life. She hated everything related to life. And she had every right, for life has given her nothing but suffering and hardships, even now, here she was, laying on the hospital bed glaring at the ceiling angrily.

As if it wasn't enough she was a orphan who got kicked out of the orphanage as soon as she turned 18 , plus with enough debt to last for decades, now she had extra debt added to her because of the hospital fees.

Oho but the hospital fees weren't the worse part. That stupid weird light just had to hit her.

She figured the light wasn't her imagination,not anymore. What else could explain the way she looked right now?! And staying in a coma like state for 3 months even though she was just found laying down on the grass unconscious?!

The only sane explanation was the light that hit her had something to do with this.

Well at least for her it was sane, because the doctors thought she was saying stuff because of just waking up from the coma,and left her for 5 more days of bedrest. 5 more days of debt added to her.

They didn't actually say their thoughts to her, but she could read their faces really clearly. They made the same faces that peopl make when they're trying not to agitate a crazy patient, or just someone who they thought was crazy.

But that wasn't all.

Immediately after she woke up, she could hear everything happening outside her door.

From mothers giving birth,their babies crying in the second floor to the new patients entering the ER on the first floor. If she tried to focus she could even hear what was happening outside the building of the hospital. At first she thought she was going crazy, and it didn't help that she couldn't even tell anyone. This actually happened 5 days ago.

That's right,she had actually gained consciousness 5 days ago, but she couldn't move. it was like she was stuck inside her body while being forced to hear every little sound the world outside made. Eventually though she got used to her new hearing abilities, and used them to hear gossip for entertainment. Three days ago, after she 'woke up' again and after seeing her new look in the mirror and freaking out, she heard the doctor in charge of her speaking with one of his nurses.

They were talking about her and her case. How her case was really weird and couldn't be explained scientifically. He had also mentioned that there were hospitalised around the same time as she was and two of them had woken up from their coma that same day. And both of their appearances had also changed. One of the patients named Blossom, when she woke up her eyes had turned pink, pink!

It was so hard to believe but at the same time for her it wasn't because what she heard after made her understand. both Blossom and the other girl claimed they had each been hit by a light before they had their accidents. Blossom said hers was a pink light and the other claimed she it was blue. This had made the doctors and nurses really confused but Buttercup understood.

She hadn't yet told them,she didn't see a reason to, but her light also had a colour. it was lime green. It seems that the colour of the light affected each of their eyes' colours.

She wondered if the other two senses were also sharpened like hers were, and also if these happenings were related.

Maybe it was another crazy scientist's experiment that affected them after the scientist fucked up. It was just a theory but not impossible. This town had a history of such things.

She was curious of the fourth girl they mentioned. They were about to talk about her but were interrupted by an emergency and didn't talk anymore about it. Was that girl related with what happened to the three of them? Did she also get hit by a light? Did her appearance also change?

Her questions were answered today. It was early morning and she had woken up and was walking around the hospital for some exercise. The doctor had finally given her permission to get out of her bed seeing she didn't have movement problems anymore. Apparently if you stay without moving for three months the body forgets how to function, at least that's what she got from the doctor's explanation.

"This can't be scientifically possible!" one of the nurses yelled and the others hushed her.

"Quiet Mary!" another nurse whisper yelled at her co-worker."You can't yell like this in the hospital especially about this case. What if someone hears that there's another weird girl just like the other previous three." she continued

This made Buttercup stop and turn to where the voices were. In one of the corners of the main lloby ,there was a circle with 5 nurses talking to eachother. They were in their break shift and had gotten together to talk about the weird phenomenon they saw this morning.

Buttercup could hear them even if they whispered. So she sat down in one of the benches, her back facing them, looking down at the floor focusing on their conversation.

Then the previous nurse, Mary spoke up again in a much quieter voice, "I understand Lara. But this is just too crazy! First the green eyed girl then the baby blue one, which has the least change in her appearance, then the pink! And as if pink eyes weren't already unnatural now we got purple eyes?!" If Buttercup wasn't sure weather their conversation was about her and the other two this just confirmed it. She shifted a little in her seat focusing even more on the conversation.

Another nurse spoke up "And not only that, don't say this to anyone though, the purple eyed one, she had actually fully healed from her injuries 2 weeks after her hospitalsation -" a bunch of gasps interrupted the nurse and she made a shhh sound to them. This also shocked Buttercup. It was impossible to be healed from a car crash this fast. She had this much medical knowledge at least.

"But that's impossible! He wounds were too severe that it was even said she might go in a vegetative state!" Mary,the nurse from before exclaimed.

"I know but that's not the only crazy part- don't interrupt me until the end ok?" the other nurses nodded not saying a sound. They were all focused on what she was about to say, even Buttercup, that she was holding her breath in anticipation. "So as I was saying, she had actually healed 2 weeks after her accident, everyone was shocked when they found out. That time I was her main nurse, I was in the room with her parents and doctor Blaze. The parents asked the doctor to keep making it look as if she was still heavily injured. They even offered a large sum of money but the doctor refused the money, he accepted their request thought. As she was still unconscious we thought it was a mistake. And even if we spoke of it we would be claimed as crazy. Then when we were trying to give her some supplements by syringe, the needle broke in half. Every needle we used on her kept breaking, and it started also happening to the other three! They all kept breaking the needles when we tried to pierce the skin . Eventually we stopped trying because we were having a shortage. "

Buttercup looked at her arms in shock. How was this possible?! No wait, that wasn't that important, she already figured part of the reason why, now she had a worse emergency.

Does that mean that I can't do more tattoos?!!

For Buttercup this was the worst news she had heard. She had just started her tattoos last year 6 months after getting kicked out of the orphanage. But because economy she only had three small cheap tattoos she got done at a sketchy tattoo shop. They see didn't look bad as they were mostly simple and without much detail, and the tattooist was quite talented even though his prices were extremely cheap. She had a skull with spider lilies surrounding it in the back of her upper left arm, a moth in the inner side of her right arm and, the very first tattoo she got, a buttercup flower at the side of her left forearm.

She had been saving money and working her ass of for a big tattoo on her back. She had everything ready for it, design and everything, she only had few more dollars left to save and a day to schedule. Now it was all for nothing?! She swore when she found out who was responsible for this she would -

"Six days ago, we did a routine check up on her, a brain scan to be precise, and the results showed something extraordinary!" Buttercup snapped out of her thoughts and continued listening.

" The results showed the brain was completely healthy, even more than the brain scan she has before her accident on her yearly checkup. The results now showed the brain was 5 times more healthy then before. After the other three woke up and mentioned the light the doctors asked her parents if they had noticed such thing. They said they saw a purple light hit her right before the car ram her over. It was actually the reason she had stayed on the car's way actually,as they claim that after she was hit by the light she stood in her place looking dizzy and didn't mover when the car approached. We thought that there was no way that at the same day four girls were hit on the same day by a light that led to them being bed ridden for three months. But today she opened her eyes. And as you already they were purple. " The nurse ended her story.

The other nurses were speechless. They looked at their friend with a shocked look on their faces. They couldn't even make one single thought.

As for Buttercup, she too was shocked. Even though she was suspicious of such thing it was still unbelievable. She stayed few minutes more to listen for maybe more information but then another nurse that hadn't listened to the conversation came and called the 5 nurses because their break had finished.

She got up and headed to her hospital room. She was looking down at the ground, deep in her thoughts when she bumped with someone and fell to the ground, snapping her out of her thoughts.

She looked up to see a tall man with his hair gelled back, a chiseled shaved chin and square face and a lab coat looking at her shocked.

"Buttercup?" he asked. Buttercup looked at him weirdly.

"Do I know you?"

"Oh I'm sorry. I'm Professor Utonium I came here looking for you and the three other girls that have the same case as you." he explained.

Buttercup got up and glared at him" And how do you know about this?"

"I know everything about your condition. It is the effects of Chemical X."

"Chemical what?" Buttercup asked confused.

"Chemical X. A powerful new chemical I was able to create,a really small amount of it unfortunately -" the professor got interrupted suddenly by Buttercup.

"So you're the ass that is responsible for this! Give me my three months back! Why do I have to get affected by your crazy experiments or whatever!" Buttercup yelled angrily. People had stopped and were staring at them making the professor smiling nervously.

"Please calm down and listen to me." he said and Buttercup continued glaring at him, and if looks could kill? the professor would be a dead man buried 6 feet under, nonetheless Buttercup didn't say anything which made professor Utonium continue" The chemical X in itself was stable , unfortunately my pet monkey now known as Mojo Jojo, threw a tantrum all over my lab and broke the container leading to an explosion. I think the lights that hit you, their colours were maybe the combination of the ingredients that I was cooking under it."

"I planned using just a small drop of chemical X on the ingredients, it was another on of my experiments, I was trying to mix sugar,spice and everything nice together and see what would come of it. Which I think are three of the four colours of the light, pink,blue and green.I was actually contemplating whether to add lavender or not in the mix. I was curious to see what would happen but I figured that I should try it in another experiment as I didn't have a lot left. When Mojo bumped into me, he made me spill the whole container on the mix. I got angry and tried to catch him and calm him down when he jumped over the shelf where the mix and chemical X were and broke it. As I mentioned before this created the explosion and led to the four lights being created and flying away, then accidentally hitting you four. " the professor finished and stared at Buttercup waiting for her reaction.

"Who's Mojo Jojo again?" She finally asked and the professor looked at her with a surprised look on his face. Really? All this information and this is what she asks?

"Uhh... my once pet monkey now turned super evil genius trying to destroy Townsville for the past three months and getting better at it..?" the professor explained. He then remembered that Buttercup had been unconscious when Mojo Jojo started his attacks until now, and she didn't know what had been happening these past 3 months.

"And what do you want from me and the other three?" Buttercup continued asking, she continued glaring at him but it was less than in the beginning.

"I - no We need your help. Actually the mayor had wanted me to recreate a new chemical X and use it to assemble a team mutated by the chemical to help fight Mojo Jojo and also keep in check the monsters from Monster Island if possible. Unfortunately I can't create another chemical X in such short amount of time which is why I've been searching for the ones that flew away. Though I didn't expect nor wanted for the chemical to have already fused with humans. But since time is of the essence-we can only last 1 week with Mojo's attacks before being defeated - I wanted to assemble this team with you four. " The professor answered.

"And what do I gain if I join this little 'team ' you speak of?" Buttercup said airquoting the word team with her fingers.

" Well I know that you are an orphan and in debt. I can help clear of all your debt, let you stay at my house and I'm the only one who can help you control your new powers and perfect them. Also I can do a better job, if worse comes to worse, than the hospital can in healing you." he offered.

"And how do I know you have the money for such and you're not lying?"

"Well my profession over the years has given me enough money that honestly sometimes I don't know what to do with it. And we are in desperate need of help so there's no reason for me to lie to you. You can continue your normal life, with some upgrading and save the city. It's a win win situation don't you think?"

Buttercup looked down at the ground thinking about what the man said. She thought that it was too good to be true that maybe the man was lying there was definitely a catch. All her dept that she owed would be paid by this strange man and she wouldn't have to worry about money anymore all in exchange to beat the ass off a crazy monkey.

"Very well, I accept your proposal."Buttercup finally spoke. The professor smiled "Thank-"

"But no funny business."Buttercup interrupted him.

He smiled again relieved "Of course. I give you my word as a scientist."

Buttercup nodded leaving it at that. "Now let's go find the others."he said and they turned to leave to find the rooms offer the other girls in the hospital when they were stopped by a voice.

"Don't bother we're already here." the professor and buttercup turned at the voice and saw a young girl with pink eyes approaching them. Next to her was another girl with baby blue eyes and blonde hair. When they approached the professor spoke."Blossom and Bubbles correct?" he asked and the two girls nodded.

"We know about everything we heard it. "The girl known as Blossom spoke first.

"Not that we meant to, it's just -" Bubbles spoke but was interrupted by Buttercup.

"You can hear everything happening in this hospital wether you want to or not. " Bubbles and Blossom nodded at Buttercup's words.

"Well that's good. It shortens the time we have to waste in explaining. And yes, to answer your questions, you will have the same benefits as I promised Buttercup." said the professor motioning at Buttercup.

"That's good then. Means we gain something while risking our lives." said Blossom.

"Very well then. Let's go get the last member of our team. " The professor said as the four of them headed to the room of the fourth girl they needed to complete their team, Brielle.
