Opening Words
Hello everyone, I never expected I would write a fanfic for Touhou with a certain amount of original world building that doesn't belong to Touhou lore but I decided to push my luck and try it for the first time to see how it's going.
Still, I hope my first try for a Touhou fanfic would give everyone a nice story to read. I hope you all enjoy it!
Because this story contains a certain amount of original world building along with OC characters acting as a main character so I would love to write out the list of trivia below in case you need to check for extra info
List of OC Characters in the story
-Vạn Thư (万書, Myriad Books): A hermit librarian in Hakoniwa who escaped to Gensokyo. Her pen name was Chidori (千鳥, Thousand Birds, Plover), it was a fake name used by her for decades in Hakoniwa during the war.
-Sengi (千欺, Thousand Deceptions): A Shogun in Hakoniwa who became the new Emperor after the Warring State Era
-Thiên Điểu (千鳥, Strelitzia Reginae flower): A dummy decoy created by Vạn Thư who entered Gensokyo searching for her creator. Her name is a combination of 千 (thousand) and 鳥 (bird) which could also roughly translated as 'Thousand Birds' in Han Nom language.
-Himari (陽葵, Good Hollyhock): A kind and wealthy businesswomen at the Human Village in Gensokyo
-Legendary Crane (伝説の鶴, Densetsu no Tsuru): One of the founders of the Great Library of Hakoniwa
-Alternative Yukari Yakumo (八雲 紫): A parallel version of Gensokyo's Yukari Yakumo, she is one of the founders of the Great Library of Hakoniwa who had been forgotten from the history after a failed power struggle against the Legendary Crane who erased her name from all of the historical records in Hakoniwa. She had a great knowledge about time space manipulation and she developed various scrolls while adding the abilities to counter other parallel version of herself in the other worlds due to her obsession about the theory of parallel Yukari.
Major States in Hakoniwan Warring State Era
-Maruyama (円山): A state created by the Emperor loyalist who wanted to preserve power for the Emperor and dispose the power of the Shogun caste
-Raika (雷火): A state created by those who wished to keep the power for the Shogun caste and turn the Emperor into a ceremonial role
-Senka (千花): A state created by Shogun Sengi who turned the farmers into an army to defeat both side and claim the Emperor title for himself
Other Trivia
-Hakoniwa (箱庭, Little Garden): A name of nation inside a dimension far away from Gensokyo. It is also a name of that isolated dimension as well.
-Kotou (孤島, Isolated Island): An isolated world which was meant to immigrate the Gods, magical creatures and other magical beings from Hakoniwa into this world under the creation of Alternative Yukari. It is similar to Gensokyo in a sense that those who ceased to exist in Hakoniwa would end up in Kotou and the boundary barrier created by her scroll would hide their existence from the people of Hakoniwa.
-Duality Brush (二元筆, Nigenfude): A magical ink brush from Vạn Thư that could create magical scroll or burn it. It's a symbol of creation and destruction.
List of scrolls in the story
Note: Every scroll inside the Great Library of Hakoniwa always has a false-safe mechanism where the user could chant to disable it even if they run out of magic. This was meant to deal with the situation where they run out of magic as the basic rule of creating or activating a scroll was to pay a certain amount of magic to use the scroll so it was inevitable that the user will eventually run out of magic.
+Scroll of Immortality (不死の巻物, Fushi no Makimono): A scroll that granted the user the ability to become immortal.
+Scroll of Teleportation (瞬間移動の巻物, Shunkanidou no Makimono): A scroll that could teleport into a different world but its exact coordination is always unknown and it requires knowledge about the existence of the different world.
+Scroll of Dummy (模型の巻物, Mokei no Makimono): A scroll that could spawn a dummy decoy with an imperfect mimic of the original user but their personality could develop on their own as time grew by.
+Scroll of Disguise (変装の巻物, Hensō no Makimono): A scroll that allows the user to disguise as a different person including their identity. Because it only drain magic per cast it was easy to use it as the user could keep one fake identity for themselves for the rest of their life.
+Scroll of Illusionary Dimension (幻想次元の巻物, Gensō Jigen no Makimono): One of the most troublesome scrolls in Hakoniwa, this scroll was supposed to teleport people from various location into one desired location in Hakoniwa and people could exit at another location after the scroll duration ended or somebody disabled it
It was meant to be used for war where the scattered army could relocate at a certain location where their army regrouped to a critical mass in order to attack the designated location once their preparation is completed. Instead, the scroll randomly pulled people into a random location or in some case it pushed and prevented people from accessing that location for unexplained reason.
+Scroll of Dimensional Barrier (次元障壁の巻物, Jigen Shōheki no Makimono): A scroll created by Alternative Yukari Yakumo to prevent the other parallel Yukari from entering Hakoniwa including other beings from other dimensions who tried to enter Hakoniwa.
