In Suzunaan book renter, Kosuzu brought a new book into her room with a happy smile while Akyuu sat on the chair waiting for her
Kosuzu: Akyuu! Another book of Hakoniwa Records series!
Akyuu: Let's see how the story of Warring State Era in Hakoniwa unfolded!
Kosuzu and Akyuu sat together reading the story of Hakoniwa Records written by Chidori in excitement as it was highly addictive and extremely detailed to the point Akyuu believed the writer had been a part of the story instead of imagining it.
It was an extremely long story about Warring States Era in another nation named Hakoniwa that stretched for decades but the story also mentioned various magical creatures scattering everywhere around the nation in details. To Akyuu it was nothing sort of a fairytale with an insane amount of realism since she never knew about any place named Hakoniwa no matter if it was the Outer World or Gensokyo.
Kosuzu: It's like the writer of this series was actually part of the story! Everything seemed so detailed to the point of unimaginable! Its feel so real!
Akyuu: Chidori was truly something, I had been reading many books for many cycle of my life but none of it ever feels original but detailed like this one.
Akyuu was being in a deep though. Outside of Suzunaan, various villagers of the Human Village lined up in queue to read the story in excitement as Hakoniwa Records quickly rise in popularity within less than a year.
Far away from the Human Village, Reimu had been reading it with excitement. Apart from the murder solving story written by Agatha Chris Q this story hooked her attention the most because of the extreme details inside the story.
Reimu: Chidori huh? I wondered who this writer was.
Marisa: Seem like a new person arrived in the Human Village. I heard that there was a person who arrived at the village at night then rent a house.
Meanwhile at Geidontei, a new customer arrived but she looked like a normal person despite of her hidden popularity
Miyoi: It's nice to see you again! What would you like to have today?
Vạn Thư: Just the previous sake as usual anyway.
Vạn Thư yawned with a bored face. Behind her was Mamizou who had been staring at her with an amused face. Vạn Thư had been folding paper crane while waiting for Miyoi.
Mamizou: You seem to have an interest of making paper crane wasn't it?
Vạn Thư looked at her own paper crane with a satisfied smile
Vạn Thư: For sure it does, having a thousand paper cranes means achieving a greater purpose
That night Vạn Thư and Mamizou began have a small chat but Mamizou knew something was wrong about her
Mamizou: (Her speaking manner and her knowledge are lackluster, that's means she is new to this village. However, something was wrong about her…)
Suddenly Suika casually entered Geidontei in front of everyone as if nothing happened. Ironically only Miyoi rushed toward her dragging her inside while other human looked at her in confusion.
Mamizou: You didn't seem to fear her wasn't it?
Vạn Thư: Why though?
Mamizou: Don't play fools, you knew about the myth of Oni wasn't it?
Vạn Thư: Hmm?
Vạn Thư just casually making another paper crane with an obvious face. Mamizou grimaced as she understood she didn't have much interested in that.
Mamizou: (So you are not a villager in here, could it be…)
Vạn Thư: You were the same type of magical creature under human disguise I might ask?
Mamizou shocked at her word as she suddenly asked
Vạn Thư: While I don't know much about this so called Gensokyo world but I do know about magical creatures and they love to show up at night under the human disguise. I bet you are just another one under the disguise. Of course we can't just speak it up in the public wasn't it?
Mamizou: So you are the same as we do? A Yokai? That's weird, I never seen any Yokai without a Yokai energy like you.
Vạn Thư: I'm not even sure what Yokai actually means but I'm sure I could sense your unusual behavior back then.
Mamizou became interested
Mamizou: How so?
Vạn Thư: For starter, you didn't seem to fear about that girl earlier anyway. On top of that, I heard from those drunken guys that Yokai had been walking among the human at night. I had been researching about various magical creatures deep inside the vast forest back in my hometown so I could sense some unusual magical energy radiating from you and her. Miyoi too emitting such energy for me to sense it
Mamizou: You came from the Outer World wasn't it?
Vạn Thư: Hmm…depending on which world you would imagine…
Flashback
Vạn Thư: Before a long and brutal Warring States Era happened in Hakoniwa. Back when I was a young girl about 140 years ago I became a student for a retired librarian deep inside the isolated forest.
When I first finished writing my first magical scroll I gained immortality and the capability of being ageless through the Scroll of Immortality. My teacher burned that scroll and along with other dangerous scrolls to prevent it from falling into the wrong hand.
I had been taught that all of the dangerous scrolls must be burned to prevent other from abusing it. After he passed away I inherited his library for more than 100 years along with a peaceful village sitting next to my library.
But my peaceful time in the forest was about to end, Warring States Era happened and a Shogun named Sengi met me with a promise that he will end the bloodshed and return the scrolls back if I helped him by writing magical scrolls.
Because my scrolls siphon my magical power every time I created or used a new scroll. I became weaker as time grew by repeating that process over and over. By the time the war was over I almost depleted my own power for those scrolls.
Because I didn't interact with the outside world over a long time I didn't realize I was a chosen librarian and the scrolls slowly corrupted him and his generals even if I was the one who used those scroll. Being a chosen librarian protected me from its corruption, my teacher forgot to teach me this important information as he was too old when I became his student.
After his victory Sengi began to execute and hunt down anyone who tried to oppose him but he only locked me behind the library as he couldn't kill the only one who knew how to use those scroll. He then hoarded all of my scrolls then confiscated the scrolls back in my hometown into his Imperial Library as the corruption caused him to be greedy for scrolls and he demanded me to activate those scrolls by his command or else I will be locked in that library forever.
He tricked me and broke his promise but I soon came to a conclusion that it was the scroll's influence that corrupted him.
He didn't know I still have enough magic and a final trump card to destroy my own creation. I created the Scroll of Teleportation during my time in imprisonment at the library to escape from the Imperial Library after I set the whole library on fire with a few candles.
Before they could capture me I teleported away to Gensokyo as I had been researching everything I could about this world before escaping.
End of flashback
Mamizou: What happened to the Scroll of Teleportation?
Vạn Thư: I burned it to prevent other from abusing it. By the time I came here I already became a powerless librarian as I lost my last bit of magical power for using that scroll. Hence why I only write the Scroll of Teleportation as the last trump card since I knew my magical power was deteriorating rapidly.
Miyoi and Suika had been hearing their whole conversation for the whole time.
Miyoi: Could you write me that scroll again?
Vạn Thư: For what though? You will be all disappointed. I refused to write any scrolls as I got sick of it, those scrolls always led to disaster. The corrupting of Sengi and other people was a proof of it. None of those scrolls would work without my permission to activate it or my magic to manifest its magic.
Suika: Even if the Yokai could wipe every normal human out of sight?
Suika smiled wickedly, yet Vạn Thư showed a bored face
Vạn Thư: Magical creatures are not my fear. I had been playing with them long enough to understand them. While I know the human in here afraid of Yokai I'm sure the Yokai would wipe them out of existence long ago if their fear was actually true.
Had they become extremely powerful in Hakoniwa I'm sure I won't even end up here if they choose to wipe out everyone in my place.
Suika: Well you was right about that though, there was a balance of existence between the Yokai and human so both sides relied on each other. Yokai can't attack human in the Human Village and human must fear the Yokai to feed their existence. Still…I'm sure you won't refuse Miyoi's wishes right?
Vạn Thư sighed as everyone looked at her with a hopeful face
Vạn Thư: You are all nasty just like Sengi… Still, I will make your wish come true but don't hate me if you failed to use this scroll.
Vạn Thư began to write a short scroll and leave it to every Yokai around her. She then leaves Geidontei as she yawned
Miyoi: Eh? You are leaving?
Vạn Thư: If you could make it work then I will be very disappointed.
She then walked away without looking back
Miyoi: Such a strange person…
Mamizou: The scroll didn't work though…I can't feel any magic inside it…
Suika: Burp…she tricked us then...
Mamizou looked at the scroll with a bored face while Suika and Miyoi laughed.
