She had heard rumours that there would be a number of temporary students arriving at her school. The circus was in town, and they were sending in some of their younger members to catch up on schoolwork, giving them a chance to take their examinations. In her mind, if she was part of the circus she wouldn't bother, she'd love to join them, travel from one city to another, not worrying about the norms of society, it sounded like a dream.

Harleen was in her final year of high school, she had never had many friends, becoming a bit of a loner. She was intelligent though, she threw herself into her studies, focusing mainly on the sciences, her aim was to become a psychiatrist in the future. Harleen had a troubled upbringing; her mother had died when she was young, and her father was an alcoholic. She had dreamed about running away and joining the circus when she was a little girl, away from her violent father and the life she currently led.

She took her normal seat in form room, sitting in the front right corner by herself. Taking out her study planner and pencil case as her form tutor entered, with four students following her. A young brunette girl called Mary Lloyd, a brunette boy called John Grayson and a pair of red-haired twins, Jerome, and Jeremiah Valeska.

They were introduced to the class before asked to take seats amongst the form. She found it strange, all four of them sat in each of the corners, instead of with one another, Jeremiah in front of the tutor, Mary in the back left, John in the back right and Jerome, sitting beside her in the front left of the classroom.

'You don't mind if I sit here, do you?' he had a soft voice and pale demeanour. She smiled quickly at him, moving her stuff over for him to sit. He sat next to her, giving her another awkward smile before staring off in front of them, silent as form began.
