Prompt 11: Nerd
We Meet Again
*Five Years Ago*
"What a nerd!" A student exclaimed before pushing the young girl's shoulder. "Stop trying so hard! No one cares!"
"Yeah yeah, that's right!" She then slaps the books out of her hands before laughing at the papers scattering across the floor.
"And look at her glasses, they're so thick!"
They all laugh again like some broken record.
"And who the heck braids their hair these days? How ugly!" She makes a barfing noise this time.
The 'nerd' frowns before cowering in place. Tears were building up and she bent down to pick up her supplies. When she did, one of the girls surrounding her stepped on her paperwork. They continued to laugh obnoxiously before she ground her foot, smearing the dirt on the sole of her shoe on the now crumpled paper. That was the last straw. Her tears finally reached their limit and spilled out of her eyes, falling onto the lens of her glasses. She bit back her lip, not wanting to cry in front of these bullies. She didn't want them to see. She prayed for help though it would never come.
That's when a certain voice called out.
"HEY! What are you doing!?"
She kept her head hung low in fear and shame when another set of shoes appeared before her eyes.
"Let her alone!"
The girls scoffed while waving her off. "This has nothing to do with you Korra, scram!"
"Hah?" That ticked Korra off before she cracked her knuckles. "It does now. You think ganging up on some poor girl is gonna help your grades get better Karen?"
Her possy gasped and 'ooo-ed' at the fight.
Karen only hissed at them before pointing at the 'nerd'. "And you think protecting this nerd is gonna boost your popularity!"
Her possy 'ooo'-ed again.
Korra only scoffs before giving them an arrogant grin. "As much as I appreciate the thought, I don't need to do much to get people's attention."
Her possy gasped at that, getting Karen to scowl deeply.
"Tch, let's go. This ain't fun anymore." She spat out before storming off. Her followers were quick to follow and once they turned their backs, Korra stuck out her tongue at them.
"And that's what I thought!" She sees Karen stick a middle finger at her and Korra flicked one back in response. Once in the clear, she turned to bend down to help her out. "Hey, you okay?"
The 'nerd' only sniffled before wiping away her tears. They ended up silently gathering the papers and once collected, Korra dusted off the dirt before handing them over.
"Here, sorry they're a little beat up and all…"
The 'nerd' quickly snatched the pack out of Korra's hand before clutching them close to her chest. Korra frowned at her defensiveness before taking in her details. She then smiled before complimenting.
"For the record, I think glasses are cute. Although…" she then reached up to take off her glasses, "You'd look cuter without them." She then gave her a bright lopsided grin.
The 'nerd' blushed heavily before taking back her glasses in a flustered manner.
"Oh whoops— sorry." Korra then backs off before adding, "And your hair too, braids are cute and all but I think you'd look beautiful if you grew it out and let it flow naturally." She then threw her a wink. "Anyways, I'll see you around?" At her last comment, Korra turned around before waving her off.
"Ahh—" the 'nerd' reached out, wanting to say something but a cat caught her tongue. She fell short of words and before she knew it, Korra was out of sight. She frowned before mumbling to herself. "T-Thank you…"
*Present Time*
Leaning back in her chair, Korra parked her feet on the desk before balancing a pen on her upper lip. She rocked back and forth before falling forward when the professor announced their arrival. "Alright class, everyone settle down. Today we'll be covering…"
Following her usual routine, class ended like normal and she was out the door, heading towards the campus cafe for some coffee. When she got there, she waited in line and ordered her usual. By the time caffeine was in her hand, she took a sip with a sigh of relief before sitting at the corner table.
"Let's see…"
She pulled open the campus networking app before reading the latest news. She swiped around for quite some time when a gasp caught her attention. She looked at the source before eavesdropping on his words.
"Holy fuck she's hot!"
"Damn, what a babe."
Naturally, Korra's eyes followed their line of sight and her eyes widened as well. She let out a soft whistle in agreement.
"Dang, she sure is beautiful…"
As if she had heard her, she looked in Korra's direction and made eye contact with her. Korra flinched slightly, having been caught staring, before giving her an awkward grin. The beautiful babe smiles back before heading up to the corner to order something. Korra finally tore her head away in embarrassment. She sipped some more of her coffee before stealing a glance at her. Her eyes happened to fall south before running back north.
Korra admired her features in silence.
Dang… that's a nice ass. Her legs are long too… her hair looks amazing. Damn this woman is attractive…
To her luck, she walked over to where Korra was sitting, right next to her side actually, to wait for her drink. Of course, Korra quickly tore her eyes away from her and continued to scroll through her phone before mumbling to herself to play it off. Of course, she wasn't staring, of course not.
"Oh, a welcoming party…" she then looked at the calendar before deciding, "Sure… I guess I'll go."
Korra felt this gaze over her shoulder and she tried looking over to her right without turning her head. Was the attractive woman looking at her? Pshhh, no of course not. There was no way someone like her would look at Korra. Sure, she would say that she was pretty attractive herself but that was a relative opinion. Not all people were into fit and toned women after all.
"Alright, time to go…"
Packing up her stuff, Korra made her way out with her leftover coffee before taking on a last glance at the attractive woman. To her surprise, they made eye contact again before smiling at each other courteously. After that, Korra made quick work and left the cafe. She scratched the back of her head before sighing happily.
"She sure was attractive."

"Hey Korra!" An excited voice calls out.
Korra turns at the sound of her name before smiling brightly, "Hey Bolin! I thought you said you were busy, what are you doing here?"
He quickly plops down onto the empty seat next to her. "Are you kidding me? Most of our high school peeps are here so obviously I gotta come!" He then wraps an arm over her shoulder before taking a swig of beer.
At that, Korra laughs before joining him, clinking her glass with his. "You should see Karen," she then nods her way, "Still bitching about the littlest things ever."
On cue, her screaming could be faintly heard over the loud ruckus of multiple college students. "Why does this kebob have veggies? I asked for a chicken one!"
"Ma'am… the skewers are listed on the menu with what comes with it."
"Unacceptable! Where's your manager? Bring him out this instinct!"
Snorting at that, Bolin faced Korra. "Aside from Karen being Karen… how have you been? Any new gossip going on? Oh! More like did you hear?! Asami Sato is back in town."
"Who?" Korra scrunched her face at the name. "I don't remember someone with that name."
"Come on, you know! The 'nerd' she only went to class for like two weeks before transferring out. I felt like she went overseas or something like that for an elite private school."
"Ahh…" some sort of recollection hit her, "I think I remember her…" an image of her cute braids and thick glasses flashed in her mind. "No wonder I never saw her around the school again. I always thought she disappeared or something. You said she transferred overseas?"
"Yup! Though I have no idea how she is and what she's doing now, I just heard she's back in Republic City. I think she scored at the top of her department actually, she's pretty legendary. I heard she was dual majoring in mechanical engineering and business?"
Korra whistles at that, "Damn. Talk about one smart cookie. I wonder if we'll ever run into her."
Bolin shrugs at that. "Who knows, the campus is pretty big. Besides, I doubt she remembers us. From what I recall, a certain someone…" he glanced in Karen's direction, "was being a bitch to her. There's no way someone like her would want to hang with us if all our school gave her was trauma."
Sighing at that, Korra slumped down onto her table. "True… I feel bad. I wished I could have protected her more. What's wrong with having a big brain? Nerds are awesome!"
Her friend holds up his fist for a bump. "True to that Kor! All hail the nerds!"
Korra gave him a dorky grin. "Hail nerds!" They bumped fists.
After a couple of rounds of beers, Bolin was a little tipsy when he got up to excuse himself. "Sorry Kor, I'm gonna call it a night. I got an early shift tomorrow morning so I should crash before I crash at work."
"Aight~!" Korra waved him off clumsily, "See you later Bo~!"
Bolin barely kept upright as he made his way to the door. "Later!"
Once she was alone, Korra yawned before taking another bite of her chicken skewer. She moaned in bliss when she ate one of the veggies. "Fuckkkk this shroom is good…" she then took a sip of beer before toasting to herself. "Free beer is the best!"
Out of nowhere, someone clinks their glass against hers. Korra raised an eyebrow before making eye contact with the lady. She saw double vision for a split second before somewhat registering her voice.
"You mind if I sit here?"
Korra squinted again before her eyes focused for a second. "Oh… you're the hot babe from the cafe." She then smiles brightly before answering, "Sure! Gooo forrr itt~!"
She giggled before taking a seat. "You good there?"
"Totarrlly peaaaachy!" Korra slurred out with a thumbs up. "I haveent sheen you aall night?
"I just got here actually so I'm a little late to the game." She said in a casual tone, but in Korra's eyes, she looked like some goddess.
"Whast your name?"
She smiled sweetly before answering. "Asami."
"Awshamiii?" She giggled happily, "Pwetty name."
"Thanks Korra, I'll glad you like it."
"Yourrr wlecome." She then pours a glass of beer for Asami, "Chweers!"
"Cheers." Asami then takes a sip before watching Korra chug her glass. "Say maybe you shouldn't drink so much.
"Wass make you day that!"
"..." Asami then lets out a breath before sliding some forward. "At least eat something then. You're gonna have a bad hangover if you don't."
Korra giggled and for some reason, her mouth moved. "Ownly if you fweed me!"
Asami cocked an eyebrow at that statement before smiling deviously. "Sure."
Sober Korra would have been shocked and would have probably said something like "Wait what?! Really?!" Whereas in comparison, drunk Korra was a loose cannon. She simply gave her a big grin before opening wide with no filter as if they were besties or were even dating.
Not to mention, sober Korra would have definitely died of embarrassment getting fed by a hot-ass woman that she hardly knew. Heck. Especially the way she fed her. Not that Korra could tell but Asami had this amused smirk on her face as if she was flirting with her. She leaned in realllll close to feed Korra that their legs were pressed together. To top that off, after Korra took a bite, Asami also bit off a piece from the skewer.
Sober Korra would have fainted at this point.

"Urgh… fuck my head…" grasping her head, Korra forced her eyes to peel open before glaring at the ceiling. After a moment, she closed them again before rolling over onto her side. "Ahh… the blanket is so soft."
She sunk even further into the mattress, thriving in the fluffiness and fresh-smelling soft sheets.
"..."
Her brain began to boot up.
"Wait… since when were my sheets this soft?" She mumbled in a hoarse voice before groaning and opening her eyes again. She blinked once. And then twice. "The fuck… this isn't my…"
Her eyes snapped out.
"Where am I?!"
She shot upright to only groan in pain at her pounding headache.
"Ow ow ow… fuck… what happened? Let's take a step back…"
She closed her eyes to remember what had happened. Most of her memory was blank but she did recall some bits.
"Korra, that's enough! No more beer!"
"Eyyyyy, noooo dront shay thatt!"
"Come on, I'll call you a taxi, what's your address?" Asami then trips to help Korra up before almost dropping her when she doesn't have strength in her legs. "Korra!"
"Oof—" Korra practically slammed into Asami's arms and she giggled as Asami tried to get her upright. Once she was sort of on her feet, she popped her head up to come face to face with Asami's face. "Damnnnnnn, yourrr talllll!"
Asami gruffed before swinging Korra's arm over her shoulder. "Come on, let's get you home."
"Butt I dontt waant tooo!"
"Korra…" Asami somehow safely made her way out of the restaurant with a clingy Korra on her arm. "Come on, what's your address?"
Korra spat out something incoherent before grabbing onto Asami's ass. Asami's eyes widened and she snapped her head at her with a cocked eyebrow.
"Hehehhee, you're so tight."
"..."
Loss for words, Asami sighed before repeating herself. "Come on, where do you live?"
"Your eyes are so pretty."
"Korra… come on, answer me."
"Hehehehehe he heeee!"
"Hah… we're getting nowhere."
Korra's mouth dropped before she slapped her mouth shut to scream silently. "Oh my spirits. Korra, you fucking dumbass! What have you done!" She then drags her hand down her face before snapping around in search of Asami.
"What the hell do you think you're doing!" She angrily whispered. "You barely know this woman and you get drunk as shit in front of her?! You're fucking crazy!"
She then winced at the pain from her over-excitement.
"Still… how the hell did I end up here…"
She closed her eyes in an attempt to get answers again.
"Hah… since you won't tell me where you live, did you just want to crash at my place? I live relatively nearby so that's probably the safest bet for you."
"Oooooooooo~ slweepover at Shamii's! Yeaahhh!"
"You sure are something." Asami shook her head softly before dragging Korra away.
"Hah…" Korra's mouth twitched before she buried her face in her hands. "I can't believe I just…" grumbling to herself, she sighed again before attempting to roll out of bed. She wasn't sure how long it took but she eventually stumbled her way into the kitchen. Once there, her eyes widened when she saw Asami. So it wasn't a dream…
Asami was sitting at her kitchen counter, reading a book. Her hair was tied up into a loose ponytail, showing off her elegant neck, however, the main difference and attraction that Korra noticed was the fact that she was wearing glasses and for a slip second, she was reminded of that one girl she saved back at the beginning of high school.
"You're…" Hesitating to put her thoughts into words, she froze when Asami turned to face her.
"Oh hey, you're awake." She then closed her book before getting up. She grabbed a few items in her kitchen before offering them to Korra, "Water and meds, for your handover."
Loss for words and being thrown off by her situation, Korra kindly accepted them. "Thanks." She then pops a pill before drinking the glass of water. "So… uh…" she blinked before recalling her name. "Asami."
Asami grabs Korra's glass and sets it in the sink. "Yes?"
"I um… I'm sorry, I wasn't planning to bother you and make you take care of me."
She then started chuckling at that confession. "It's okay, no worries. I didn't mind it."
"O-Oh… okay."
Asami smiles again before offering Korra some coffee. "Caffeine?"
Korra's eyebrow creased slightly from her heavy headache. "Yeah. Thanks. That would be great."
They ended up sipping their beverages in silence. However, during the whole sipping exchange, Korra stole glances at Asami. That was something about her that was so nostalgic but she couldn't put her finger on it.
What was it?
Her vibe?
But how would Korra know her vibe if they literally just met not too long ago?
Her features?
Did she know someone like her? Maybe they had a class together at some point? But Korra would have remembered someone like her. So then why was she so familiar? As she wracked her brain trying to figure out this mystery, she spaced out while giving Asami this intense stare. Of course, Asami feels that pressure and finally turned to face Korra with a curious look.
"Can I help you?"
"Huh?"
She smiled before expanding. "You're staring."
That makes Korra's cheeks burn up. "Oh— I uh— s-sorry! I didn't mean to stare. I just um, you seem familiar to me and I don't know why."
Asami chuckled before she leaned onto her counter, resting her chin on her fist. "Wouldn't you want to know why?"
"Huh? What do you mean by that?"
Deciding to throw her a bone, Asami tossed a couple of hints. "You don't know me but you also do." Korra's face only grew in confusion. "I actually returned back from the states not too long ago you see…" She said with a smile, eyes not leaving Korra's. "Finished studying overseas." She added to clarify while crossing her legs.
"..." Korra's lips expanded at her attempt to juice her memories. She was so close to wringing out her identity and when Asami pushed up her glasses, her eyes widened before she snapped her fingers. "OHHH! RC high, freshman year. You were that gal Karen was bullying!"
That finally brought a bright smile to Asami's face which made Korra's heart flutter. "Yup, that's me. I never got a chance to thank you back then." She sounded remorseful and the slight frown on her face made Korra sad. Thankfully she cheered up before she said, "It really meant a lot, thank you."
"Oh— y-you're welcome!" Korra scampered out before rubbing her cheek bashfully. "Um… you look good."
Caught off by the compliment, Asami blushed slightly, and then having realized what she said, Korra blushed as well before clearing her throat.
"A-Anyway, you gotta bring me up to speed with how you've been doing."
Asami was quick to brush off her shyness as well. "Sure… but before that, why don't we get some breakfast or a snack if you're up for it."
Before Korra could answer, her stomach growled. She blushed slightly before clearing her throat into her hand. "Yeah, sounds great. Though my head is killing me a little so how about something light?"
Smiling warmly, Asami stood up to grab her purse. "Sounds perfect."
