This chapter is mostly segway into the first major arc in the fanfiction so far, where we'll finally be introduced to the story's antagonist group in the chapter after this. While this does have slight filler in it, considering that this chapter introduces more characters from Tokyo Ghoul and implements them into this AU as they are needed, some more detailed than others, this chapter could be considered a slice of life one, and who doesn't love those?
Author's notes will be at the bottom, thank you for reading this chapter.
Groggy from last night's romp with his unofficial boyfriend— which in itself was a debated label— Haise woke up covered in a cold sweat and was sticky with their combined ejacule. Having fallen asleep with his cheek pressed up against Juuzou's small breasts with the femboy's arms still loving embracing him by the back of his head and back, Haise smiled while listening to his slow heartbeat pumping inside of his small chest.
'The morning alarm hasn't gone off yet… Wonder if it's worth falling back asleep?' Haise thought curiously to himself, as he did his best to not wake Juuzou up as he strained his eyes to get a look at the Bluetooth alarm clock, which sat on top of the end table he had by the side of his bed's headrest. 'Six-forty in the morning… Eh, might as well get an early start,' Haise thought to himself with a slightly disappointed look in his eyes, as he mentally prepared himself to get their mornings started before their employees would start showing up.
"Hey… Juuzou… Juuzou, wake up," Haise said with a scratchy voice, and couldn't help but feel all warm inside as he watched Juuzou wake up in a cute and sleepy manner. That's when Haise realized that his member was still buried deep inside Juuzou, and the warmth that he felt around it only made it that much more easier for him to get fully aroused the longer he stared up at the femboy who he figured had no right being as cute as he was.
Staring around the bedroom while trying to get his morning bearings, Juuzou's barely-opened crimson eyes made their way down to Haise's gaze, and that's when an exhausted smile began to spread across his make-up smeared lips. "Ah… I see you're already up; mmmph… In more than one way, it would seem," Juuzou said jokingly in a tired voice of his own, as involuntarily pushed his hips down against Haise's. Before things could get too steamy, Juuzou turned his head slowly to the alarm clock
"… I think we got time," Juuzou said optimistically with a mischievous glimmer in his tired eyes, as he reached down with his hands to grab a hold of Haise's ass. "What do you say, Haise? Care to make this a 'magic morning'?" Juuzou asked without really waiting for an answer, as he started to thrust his hips down faster-and-faster against Haise's, all while keeping his lover in place by pushing his pelvis into his.
While Haise always strived to be the more responsible one out of the two of them, the truth was that no matter how much he tried to convince himself to not give into his hyperactive libido, the half-ghoul hadn't gone a single morning without having a 'round-two' with Juuzou since they moved into their agency's upstairs apartment.
Blushing just as much as the femboy was, who was still wearing the torn lolita dress he had since last night, Haise raised himself up to press his forehead against Juuzou's, before proceeding to lock lips with him while he began thrusting himself in-and-out of him. By the time that they had finished their morning quickie, they were scheduled to open in forty minutes.
Needing to get ready as soon as possible, Haise had to carry Juuzou in his arms after having came inside him, as they made their way to their private restroom to bathe away the aftermath of hardcore sex from their bodies. With Juuzou needing more time in the shower to remove his smeared makeup and cover up the hickies on his neck with a fresh coat out foundation, Haise was responsible for getting the coffee ready and whipping out some breakfast for the both of them.
Knowing that they were going to need to eat at their desks that morning, Haise prepared chorizo breakfast burritos with sautéed vegetables and salsa; a recipe that he had learned from the Americans while he was a peacekeeper for TSC. Due to Juuzou oftentimes dressing sloppily, or as he preferred to call it 'quirky', it was his turn to take over manning the kitchen, after he was done in the bathroom.
While Juuzou was filling their double-insulated travel mugs with just the right amount of creamer to suit one another's liking, Haise was going through the tedious process of getting his outfit together and his hair brushed; something that Juuzou knew to be more so a mental practice rather than a practical one, due to Haise's fluffy hair always ending up doing its own thing, despite how much he combed it.
Although Haise knew how to tie his own ties, he always made sure to kneel down to allow the shorter half-ghoul the reach up toward his neck. Smiling at how concentrated Juuzou's eyes were while he was adjusting the length of his white tie, once the femboy had tied Haise's neck accessory to his preferred liking, he brought him closer to his face by grabbing him by his white tie. Locking lips with another to get their fill of each other's kisses before needing to play their roles for the day, Haise and Juuzou had to restrain themselves from having a repeat of that morning.
With Haise's bedside alarm clock going off to signal for them that it was time to go downstairs, they broke off the kiss while Juuzou went to collect their briefcases. When it became apparent that Juuzou was taking longer than usual, Haise couldn't help but to feel concerned about whether or not they had lost something of value. Walking over to their walk-in closet, where they kept a good majority of their valuable belongings at, Haise opened his mouth to speak, but was quickly silenced the moment Juuzou turned around to press his finger against his lips.
"Shhh…" Juuzou instructed with an adorably determined look on his eyes, before handing Haise his mug of coffee in order to free his hands. Lifting his arm up and pulling back the long sleeve of his black and long-waisted trench coat, Juuzou used his smartwatch to activate the 'find my phone' app, and signaled for Haise to listen carefully with him. With their keen sense of hearing being what it was, it didn't take long for the two half-ghouls to figure out that their phones were.
"Aw, damn it…! Do you think we missed any calls?" Haise asked with a worried look on his face, as he handed Juuzou his mug of coffee back before the two of them began power walking out of their apartment, and through the hallway outside of their front door.
"Probably. But oh well, it happens, ya know?" Juuzou mused nonchalantly as they made their way downstairs into the office, before nimbly going over to Shirazu's desk to pocket his own phone. "Here," Juuzou said in an upbeat manner, as he slid Haise's phone into the pockets of his black slacks, but not without playfully groping the young man's crotch after doing so.
"J-Juuzou…! K-Keep that behavior saved for later…!" Haise scolded with his face becoming a crimson shade, as he shoved the perverse femboy's hand away from his visible erection. "We don't have time for this; you know Mutsuki always comes to work early," Haise scolded while trying to recompose himself, as he made his way past the front desk and to the front door, so that he could enter the code onto the keypad mounted near the doorframe.
Just as usual, Mutsuki was the first one to show. Having been coming into work as Haise's private assistant since he had left TSC along with the rest of his quinx squad members, Mutsuki always made sure that he was an hour early to his shift, and made it a habit to bring his boss a gift every morning. Although he was usually a shy person who identified as a boy, Mutsuki always made sure to greet Haise with a warm hug before presenting him with his present: a caramel latte with extra whipped cream.
With Mutsuki being in charge of reaching out to those who had left a voicemail or email to them, in regards to the cases that they were investigating, Haise decided to wait for his agency's three deputies to arrive in order to give them an update about what he expected from them for the day. With Shirazu, Urie, and Saiko, who of course arrived ten minutes late to her shift, all informed with Mutsuki writing out a memo for the rest of the investigators beneath the deputies to read when they were scheduled to arrive, Haise made sure that all was in order before stepping aside to have a word with Juuzou.
Having thought that Haise was getting more and more brave with his feelings, Juuzou eagerly awaited to see what the other half-ghoul wanted from him as they entered his private office. Although the idea of joining Haise in assisting Arima's mission to investigate an old military outpost was very promising, Juuzou silently felt disappointed that their private meeting didn't end up going anywhere other than just being strictly about business.
With the team of junior investigators, who were all a mix of human and ghoul, being tasked with the assignments given to the deputy investigators, Haise and Juuzou made their way downstairs into the basement to retrieve what they needed from their own agency's armory. Making sure to set aside the weapons and supplies they would need for their excursion that day, Haise and Juuzou made sure to pack their large duffel bags and made sure that Mutsuki took inventory of the amount of ammunition they were bringing with them.
After all, quinque-metal bullets from the bones of dragon orphans weren't cheap, and they would need to make sure that the TSC would reimburse them for them properly. 'Good deeds don't pay the bills,' as Haise put it.
Meanwhile, over at the 20th Ward where a very pissed off manager sat alone in her office, Anteiku was having a particularly busy morning to say the least. Not only did Kaneki never show up for his interview, despite how confident Enji was that he would, but Eto wasn't going to be available to help Touka run things at the coffee shop.
With her missing boss' daughter planning on spending most of the day at the Kafka Agency, Touka was left to stew over the fact that she wasn't going to be able to hire a new waiter, so that she could finally give her two employees some well-deserved time off. Seeing how she wasn't going to be needing to conduct an interview anytime soon, Touka decided to head back out the dining area to do her managerial duties.
But before she could begin taking the orders of the tables who needed to be served, there stood an athletic woman in her forties at the door of her office. Standing before her was Touka's very own mother, who stood slightly taller than her, and unlike her, had white short hair with her straight bangs swept all the way to the side, so that both her violet eyes were visible. Surprised to see her mother, Touka's eyes widened and her breath fled from her lungs.
"Y-You… M-Mom, you're... Y-You're back already?!" Touk asked with both excitement and confusion from the fact that her mother was standing before her, still wearing her large duffel bag on her back, with her white rabbit gas-mask hooked onto the carabiner attached to her belt.
Dressed from head to toe in desert camo fatigues that she had looted from the body of a deceased American marine that she had stumbled upon while scavenging, Hikari Kirishima couldn't help but to imagine herself as one of those marines she remembered seeing in those viral videos; emotional videos that showed mothers coming back from the Middle East to be welcomed back by their loved ones. This similarity was cemented when the older ghoul felt her daughter's loving arms wrap around her torso, as Touka embraced her mother with relief and tears beginning to shed in her eyes.
"Oh my God…! I-I thought you weren't coming back until next week…!" Touka stuttered out with a trembling bottom lip, as she buried her face into her mother's collar, and felt like a little girl again as she hugged Hikari even tighter.
Returning the hug while picking her daughter up from the ground to playfully swing her from side-to-side with her impressive upper body strength, Hikari kissed Touka on the forehead before setting her back down on her feet. "It's good to see you too, baby-girl…" Hikari said with a loving voice, before her smile wavered as moved onto the reason behind why she was home early.
"… I heard about what happened to Mr. Yoshimura, Touka. I… I wanted to make sure to be here until we can figure out what happened," Hikari said in a concerned and slightly fearful voice, as she gazed down at her daughter's teary eyes with her motherly instincts kicking in full throttle. "I… I don't think I could bring myself to be apart from either you or Ayato; not when I can't be certain that you two will be safe without me."
Although Touka wanted nothing more than to have what was left of their family living together like a normal unit, the young ghoul didn't want to be seen as a burden. "You shouldn't have to worry about us, mom… We got Yomo here, and Eto's never too far away from the coffee shop," Touka tried reasoning, as a way to reassure her mother.
Furrowing her brow from hearing Touka having placed so much of her confidence into her younger brother, the man who she still blamed for her husband's death, Hikari let out an elongated sigh. "While…. While I don't have any doubts in Eto's capabilities, it wouldn't be fair of us to rely on her for protection, especially when she's dealing with the loss of her own father," Hikari reasoned, all while purposefully choosing to not speak about Yomo. "Besides, what's wrong with a mother wanting to spend more time with her own children? Especially… Especially Ayato," Hikari said with a low voice, as she thought back to the message she received from Touka about everything that went down last night.
"Ah… Yeah, I… I wish I had something good or reassuring to say to you right about now, mom." Touka replied back in a similar tone, as she thought about her younger brother's behavior, and how it had been getting progressively worse over the recent years. "I… I saw him with a bunch of flyers in his room… You know? When I told you about how I came up there to talk to him about what he did to Hinami?" Touka asked, while making sure to downplay what she actually did when she stormed her way up to Ayato's bedroom.
"You mean when you and your brother got into a physical altercation, and Yomo had to pull you two apart from each other?" Hikari asked with an unamused and disapproving scowl on her face, which elicited Touka laugh uncomfortably while nodding her head. "Not that I don't think Ayato deserves to get some sense knocked into him from time-to-time, but… Still, he's your younger brother, Touka; you should be a role model to him, not his punisher."
"Ugh… Y-Yeah, yeah but like… He's not making it easy on me, ya know mom?" Touka argued back respectfully, all while still not trying to pretend that she wasn't in the wrong as well. "I… I just want what's best for him too, and… I'm scared for him, mom; I really am."
Completely knowing what Touka was going through, especially when the thought of ever seeing her little boy dead in the wastelands was something that gave Hikari nightmares. "… I'm going to talk to him after I greet him and have you two help me unload the truck with your uncle. I'll… I'll make sure he gets the message through that thick head of his, I promise," Hikari said reassuringly, as she gave Touka a head rub before walking past her daughter to set her heavy duffel bag down in the middle of the office floor.
"In the meantime… Why don't you take a gander at what mama's brought home? I've found some pretty neat stuff, if I do say so myself," Hikari said with a proud look on her youthful face, before gesturing with her hand for Touka to get down on the floor to look through the valuable loot she brought home.
Kneeling down with her knees against the carpeted floor, Touka watched as her mother left the office that used to belong to Kuzen Yoshimura. Once Hikari had closed the door behind her, Touka turned her attention back down to the large heavy-duty olive-green duffle bag.
'It's like Christmas morning in the apocalypse…' Touka thought jokingly to herself, as she unzipped the bag before beginning to sort through all the valuables, which included a good number of bottled coke-a-colas, along with expensive looking electronic devices that ranged from designer headphones, to all the way to high-tech rifle with a white emblem printed onto the side of its rectangular barrel, that looked straight out a fifties-era sci-fi movie.
"What the hell is this…? Is this a quinque…?" Touka muttered to herself with a perplexed look in her single-exposed eye, as she brought the side of the rifle's carbon-metal alloy barrel, in order to decipher what exactly she was holding in her hands. Being careful not to accidentally dislodge the large yellow battery that was loaded above the trigger of the gun, Touka brushed her long bangs away from her face in order to get a better look at the tiny white text at the lower end of the futuristic firearm that read 'AE9 Laser Rifle'.
Upstairs in the quaint coffee shop, Ryouko had gotten to speak with Hikari shortly, while the two mothers went to their respective apartments. Having received an apology on behalf of her troublesome son's behavior, Ryouko would have been lying if she said that she wasn't upset with Ayato's behavior, but let Hikari know that Hinami would be willing to hear his apology once he was ready to give it to her.
After having spent her morning getting Hinami ready for her online classes, along with doing the morning chores while preparing herself for her housekeeping job, Ryouko made sure that her coffee was hot and ready as she marched downstairs and out of Anteiku's door. Finding it coincidental that she was starting the first day of work at her new job at the same place that Eto had discovered the other day, Ryouko was hopeful that her position as a housekeeper for Kafka Agency was going to be far better than her previous jobs working as a maid.
The sky was blue, hardly a cloud above to prevent the sun from shining down on the city of Tokyo; it was the ideal weather that made Ryouko feel great, as she rode the bullet train from the 20th Ward, all the way to the 1st Ward. From the train station, Ryouko was able to walk over to the detective agency, where she felt her heart racing in her chest the moment she set foot into the cozy lobby of the agency.
Walking across the white-marbel floor until she was standing before the black circular desk of the very young front desk receptionist, Ryouko smiled sweetly at the teenage blond girl as she said, "Good morning Ms. Shirazu! I hope your morning hasn't been too hectic…!"
Smiling back from behind the monitor of her laptop, Haru Shirazu— who was the younger sister of one of the deputy investigators of the agency— greeted the ghoul mother by replying back with, "It's wonderful to see your beautiful smile again, ma'am! And don't worry about little ol' me; it's my job to deal with hectic people!" The young thirteen year-old said with a positive smile on her face, as she quickly signed the young mother into her digital muster sheet, before buzzing the door open for Ryouko to go through.
Once inside and past the work floor that was filled with cubicle-enclosed desks, Ryouko was walking by an aisle of private offices, where she recognized someone in one of them. Ryouko did her best to show Eto respect, as she passed by the glass-walled office where the young half-ghoul was discussing the events that led to her father's disappearance to Juuzou, who despite his goofy appearance, was doing a good job keeping up with typing out everything that Eto told him to him descriptive detail.
With the only thing left to do before starting her actual job being that she needed to speak to the owner of the business, Ryouko made her way to his office and knocked on the door. Waiting outside the office while hearing what sounded to be like scrambling coming from the other side of the door, Ryouko was eventually greeted by Haise's personal assistant and secretary, who was in the midst of wiping his lips with his black dress-shirt's sleeve, as he opened the door for her.
"Ah, good morning Ms. Fugucchi…! Y-You're here sort of early, aren't you?" Mutsuki greeted with a white substance on his bottom lip, even after he had tried to hastily wipe it out while opening the door for her.
Trying to ignore the fact that Mutsuki's breath smelled like something that Ryouko couldn't quite put her finger on, the ghoul mother smiled graciously back at the dark-skinned boy, Ryouko replied back, "The early bird gets the worm, as they say, right?"
Unable to help himself, Mutsuki smirked at the ironic comment and thought to himself, 'Yeah, that's one way to put it.' Quickly brushing aside his own thought that he found to be amusing, Mutsuki took a moment to slightly close the door on Ryouko in order to look back over his shoulder, before looking back forward at the confused mother with an apologetic look on his face. "I'm sorry about that, I just had to make sure that Dadd-I mean- Mr. Sasaki… Was uh… R-Ready to see you, was all," Mutsuki stuttered nervously, as he stepped aside to allow Ryouko to step right on into Haise's executive office.
Walking beside Mutsuki's other office desk that he used only when Haise was at the agency and not out doing his own thing, Ryouko looked down at the feminine looking boy's desk and let out a gasp upon seeing a half-consumed frappe sitting beside the secretary's laptop. 'Ah! I remember now! Whip cream! That's what her breath smells like!' Ryouko thought to herself, as she pieced together what exactly was on Mutsuki's bottom lip, all without realizing that she had used the wrong pronouns to address him.
Feeling like Nancy Drew with the way she was able to piece together what she figured to be nothing more than a trivial puzzle to entertain herself, Ryouko walked in on Haise sitting at his mahogany desk. Having been in the midst of quickly trying to do some last minute organizing, Haise was finishing clearing his table top as he looked up to smile up at the older ghoul with an embarrassed look on his face.
"I-I'm sorry about the mess; Mutsuki and I barely just remembered that you were coming in today for your first day of work, and we forgot to make ourselves look presentable for your arrival," Haise apologized with a goofy smile on his face, before standing up to walk around the desk to pull up the seat across from where he sat, "I can reassure you Ms. Fugucchi that this little hiccup doesn't reflect our usual work ethic… Please, have a seat; make yourself comfortable and at home."
Amused and happy to finally have gotten a boss who knew how to treat his female employees, Ryouko's cheeks became a light shade of pink as she sat down in the chair that Haise was still holding. It was then that the ghoul let out a surprised, yet enjoyable yelp, as she suddenly felt Haise pushing her chair in while she sat down in it. "Such a gentleman, Mr. Sasaki! Your parents must have done a great job raising you…"
Not having the heart to damper Ryouko's mood with any sob story of his, Haise simply nodded in agreement to the sentiment that was behind the motherly ghoul's words as he made his way back to his own seat. "Yeah… Yeah, I think so too. Thank you for the compliment, Ms. Fugucchi; that was very kind of you to say." Haise said gratefully, while he motioned for Mutsuki to pull up a seat beside him.
With Mutsuki handing Ryouko a set of janitorial keys along with her first two weeks of paychecks in advanced, the motherly ghoul graciously kept thanking Haise for giving her the opportunity to be given the job of housekeeping, especially when she realized just how much he was actually paying her per week. The two of them discussed expectations from one another, along with others just wanting to get to know more about each other.
Ryouko, charmed by Haise's adorable quirky interests and well-behaved behavior, opened up to her new boss about her own life, as well as mentioning her fourteen year-old daughter. Feeling comfortable enough to share with Haise about why she needed the job, the young investigator gave his sincere condolences to the widowed ghoul, and told her to call him on his personal cell phone if she needed anything, regardless of the time of day.
When their hour-long meeting was adjourned, Haise stood up and walked back over to Ryouko, and asked if he had permission to pull her seat out for her, to which the motherly ghoul found very refreshing compared to the sort of men she had been around recently. Motivated to do right by Haise and the agency being operated, Ryouko felt extraordinarily ready to accomplish her daily tasks to not only impress her new boss, but to bring what honor she could to her family name.
When Ryouko finally exited Haise's private office to get the supplies and equipment she needed from the janitorial room, Mutsuki was once again left alone to accomplish her own ambiguous tasks. While Haise and Mutsuki were left alone in a windowless office with the door locked tightly, everyone's day in Tokyo seemed to be going exceptionally well, and things were even looking up for Hinami, who through hard work and her own determination was finally able to get through the hurdle of understanding what 'tone' was in a literature setting.
Had Kaneki and Hide still been in the city on that very optimistic day, then perhaps their luck would have been shining on that glorious day as well. Unfortunately for the two of them who were attacked by the black-hooded figure that had followed them undetected beneath the darkness of the previous night sky, they were no longer with the safe-confines of Tokyo's protective walls.
Did Mutsuki give Haise head underneath his desk, or was he just enjoying the frappe that he had given to Haise earlier? You decide.
Also, apparently I wrote Haise to have a fetish for women and futas who try to identify as being male.
I love the idea of Ayato having a porn stash that Touka or his own mother confiscates from him the moment they find out about it. It would be even funnier if it was Yomo or Arata who were the ones who gave it to him in the first place. That, or Irimi or Uta, I could totally see them giving them to him.
And yes, I'm planning on Eto bonding with Kaneki as friends first, before transitioning into more than just friends as the story proceeds. Considering that Aogiri doesn't exist in the story anymore, and how the antagonists of the story wouldn't have a reason to physically torture Kaneki like in the canon, Kaneki really wouldn't have any reason to dislike Eto in this one, considering how she's not a villian at all in this story.
Yeah I wasn't really a fan of the torture logic to begin with, and him becoming Super Sonic after he took a bite out of Yamori's cheek doesn't really make much sense. He should have been malnourished AF, limping, in shock, and not really able to do anything against Yamori, let alone somehow do backflips and shit.
Now that I'm writing this more and more, I really don't see Haise simping over anyone, or really having a reason to like Eto more than just a friend. He just treats women with a lot of respect and tries to be a hero to make up for his actual behavioral tendencies, so it's not like he really sees Eto as anything special other than she's hot.
I can see Hikari being the one to awaken Kaneki's sexual nature, which in turn would probably make him more aware of what signals to look out for with women. Hikari would probably teach him, and use that as an excuse to have sex with him and relieve her own nostalgia of what it was like to have a partner again, especially since Kaneki is so similar to Arata.
Tbh, Touka didn't really do shit compared to Hinami and Eto in :re, so I totally agree with you on that. With that said, I could see Touka liking Haise more than Kaneki, simply because in this fic at least, he's more confident and charismatic than Kaneki is, even when he'll have white hair later on. That, and Haise is a lot less whiny than Kaneki, which has always been something that annoyed Touka when she was a cool character in the beginning of Tokyo Ghoul, before she was written to just be Kaneki's 'love interest'.
I could see Hikairi's affair with Kaneki as being short lived, and would probably end the moment she moans Arata's name instead of his. That would probably be her wake up call, which she would want to end things between her and Kaneki, telling him that she made a mistake. Leaving Kaneki sad and horny, and Hinami available. Of course, Kaneki would probably want to keep that secret from everyone else.
And it would be fun to have Kaneki going off on a side story to help Naurto and Sakura go on a 'ninja training mission', which would technically make Kaneki an honorary ninja in training after he went along with them to help defend a village from an attack, or to go looting for supplies.
Ochoimaru as a villain would be doable, especially considering that he wants what the main antagonist will claim to have. And I'm glad you enjoy Touka and Eto both being sassy and capable of giving Kaneki shit. As for Enji's lost property, I definitely plan on writing that as a future side arc, where a group of them go with him to try and reclaim whatever's left of his lost property.
Welp, that about does it for now. Thank you for reading, and have a damn good day!
