Chapter 4: Traps of the Past

At the Super Mario Bros. and Prika goes in deeper into the temple, it soon gets so dark that their eyes are only seen.

"Well, feed me sunflower seeds. I can't see anything but our eyes," Daisy exclaimed.

"This looks like a job for Firehand Mario!" Mario said.

A flame is then seen in Mario's hand, brightening up the place. But everyone soon noticed Yoshi and Birdo having a French kiss together.

As Luigi covers Prika's eyes, Yellow Toad shouts, "Yuck! Mushy stuff!"

"Yeah, you two! Right in front of Prika?" Blue Toad added.

"What? It was dark," Birdo said while she and Yoshi stopped.

Once Luigi uncovers Prika's eyes, Mario finds an unlit torch hanging on the wall and says, "Let's light this temple better than before."

When he flicks his flame onto the torch, it causes all of the torches to lit up.

"Papa is the light to us all," Prika said sweetly.

"Sweet of you to say that, Paprika Pepper," Mario said, petting her head.

"Hey, look at this," Peach points out some drawings and hieroglyphics.

"Wow. What are they? They look ancient comic strips," Prika commented.

Luigi said, "Well, star spice. These are what you call hieroglyphics. They were invented before the alphabet letters we have today."

Then Daisy added, "But there are Sarasaglyphics. They are telling how my people arrived on foot to this land."

"Cool. But what about these?" Prika said.

Prika then shows hieroglyphics of five tribes of Sarasaland kneeling before some Flower-like Gods that look like a Rose, a Dandelion, a Daffodil, a Daphne, a Daisy, and a White Swan Coneflower.

"Did your people use to worship gods, Daisy?" Peach asks.

Then Daisy responds, "I thought it was a myth that we used to pray to gods. But the Sarasaglyphics say that my kind was about to die in starvation once they arrived at Sarasaland. Until they encounter these six giant beings in the form of flowers: rose, dandelion, daffodil, daphne, daisy, and white swan cornflower, pleading to them for their aid in exchange, they will treat them as gods. And as promised, they granted them the end of hunger with permanent crops. As time passed, these Six Flora Gods remained worshipped by my people while they continued to grant them harvest in repayment for their loyalty."

"Remarkable. They are like the Star Spirits, but Flower kind. But what happened to them?" Luigi said.

But everyone then comes across a bottomless with a vine tied to the other and one close to where they are standing.

"This must be one of the temple's traps," said Peach.

"Should I use my telekinesis to go over it?" Prika suggests.

"Allow me, Prika," said Daisy before grabbing the vine.

She pulled it so quickly that it made the other part of the floor come towards them, and the pit disappeared.

"See, Daisy-flower? Your super strength is special," said Luigi.

"Yeah, but not good enough. Let's go," said Daisy, walking to an entry as everyone followed.

"I just don't get it, Daisy. You have a good personality and great strength. Does this power mean that much to you?"

"I hate feeling left out when it comes to magic. I can't even use power-ups."

"Blame Nintendo for that. There are times when they don't give the fans what they want. That's why they always turn to fanfiction," said Mario.

In the other room, there are more Sarasaglyphics, but the cravings have the Flower Gods casting a spell upon the people of Sarasaland for them to fight aliens that look like Tatanga.

"No way! Are these aliens Tatanga's kind?!" Mario shocked.

"Apparently so, Bro," Luigi answered.

"Daisy, translation, please," said Peach.

Then Daisy replies, "It says here that one day an alien race known as the Katsini arrive at Sarasaland to invade for enslavement. My people sought their Flower Gods for help. So, they granted them a strong power to wipe the race out."

"Well, after meeting Tatanga during our Super Crown events, it was clear that some had survived," said Yoshi.

"No kidding, Yoshi-honey. What else does it say, Daisy?" Birdo asks.

She said, "But granting my people this power cost the Flower Gods' life, which sent them to descend underground. In the end, my people defeated the invaders, and the aliens fled. In case of their return, my people placed all their powers within this temple."

"Hang on. They could've used it to stop him the first time, and I didn't have to save the day. I feel dropped," Mario crossed his arms.

"Well, it's clear that my people have forgotten all about this piece of history," Daisy spoke.

The Toad Twins then said, "Hey, what's that?"

The Toad Twins pointed out to a statue of a bouquet of a Rose, a Dandelion, a Daffodil, a Daphne, a Daisy, and a White Swan Coneflower.

"That must be the Flower Gods. I wonder if this is how they appear before everyone," said Yellow Toad.

"I think this represents all the six types of gardening: flower, woodland, scented, herb, fruit, and vegetable," said Blue Toad.

But then the statue starts to move to reveal its vine arms and root legs.

"It's another booby trap," said Birdo, as Yoshi tried to hold his laughter in the background.

"I got this!" Daisy said, cracking her knuckles.

With one punch, Daisy knocks it into the entrance and falls apart.

"Again, are you sure you want this power so badly, Daisy? Your strength is powerful," Peach said.

"Heck, I do, sister," Daisy responds.

"Now, Daisy-flower. Let's think this through. What if this power isn't as powerful as you imagine," said Luigi

"You know how much I hate disappointment, Luigikins."

"We're going to be here all day," Mario shook his head.

After Prika starts to yawn, Mario takes her in his arms, puts her in his overalls, and says, "Luckily, my overalls are good enough for baby carrying."

Prika then goes to sleep as everyone goes into the entry. Back outside, Rosalina is walking around with Baby Luma, Lubba, and Polari.

"What flowers do you think I can get for Prika, Mama?" Baby Luma asks.

"Say, you've got quite the shine for Mario's baby girl," Lubba commented.

"Wasn't it obvious from the start?"

"Of course, it was."

"Well, Prika seems like the kind of Luma would like any flowers," Rosalina said.

"If you want to be romantic, get red roses," Polari added.

But then the group spot the feeling of the people of the Chai Kingdom running past them in free.

"What is going on?" Rosalina asks.

Just then, the Toad Brigade came over to them for Captain Toad to say, "Rosalina, do you realize that Sarasaland is under attack by aliens?!"

"No."

"Okay. So, we need your help," said Toadette.

"Sleepy-head, tell us that everything will be alright at the end," said BankToad, carrying his sleeping companion on his back.

"Daisy…rescue…defeat," he muttered in his sleep.

"How is that helping?!" Hint Toad shouted.

"Come on. We need to defeat the enemy and quick," said Mail Toad.

Then the two groups run towards the location of the mothership, which is above Sarasaland Palace.
