Two hours later
Don and Robin finally got back from the appointment and saw David was still there, who looked like he was waiting for them.
Sighing, Don told Robin he wanted to talk to David in private, if it was alright, which she agreed, as she was tired anyway and wanted to take a nap.
After Robin and Alan left the room, who was going to prepare for supper anyway, Don turned to David, as he suspected that his visit was related to Colby.
"Is this about Colby?" Don asked, to which David nodded, which confirmed the Senior agent's suspicions.
"Don… I've come to realize that I really screwed up with Colby and I'm asking that I have a few days off to go to DC, so that I can talk with him in person to try to work things out." David started
Don raised an eyebrow, as he had tried to get David to talk to Colby about the Janus List events with no luck, though he wondered if something made him change his mind.
"What changed your mind?" Don had to ask his friend, as he needed to know that David wasn't going to hurt Colby again over this.
"Well, first the fact that Bradford asked me what I was really angry about, then the past few months, I have been missing Colby, and I want to make things right." David answered
"Well, guess I can say better late than never." Don said lightly
"I know Don, I really screwed up but I promise that I will try to make things better with Colby and figure it out." David said
"Hopefully, Colby will be able to feel that you are really trying, given that he seems to have lost hope of making things better." Don reminded his friend
"I know, Don, I really owe him a lot for what I have put him through this year, and I need to ask, is he sick?" David asked
"Last I heard he seems to be doing better but anything can change." Don said, as he had a feeling that Colby might still have a long way to go in regards to his health.
"I figured, as I think more about it, the more I realize that I had accused him of things that he wasn't really doing, so that's the second thing I'm going to apologize for." David said
"What's the first thing?" Don asked
"For doubting him and not being there for him when I really should have." David answered, feeling more guilty as he realizes that he might be running out of time to fix things, or Colby would never talk to him again.
