Chapter 3: Chat Fight

.

Adrien made a quick run from the school and headed toward an ally where he could transform. He was lucky that his driver was already a good distance away from him so he wouldn't pick him up right away. Once he checked that there was no one around, he opened his shirt a little to let his kwami fly out.

"I wonder what kind of akuma we got today?" Plagg thought out loud.

"Only one way to find out. Plagg, claws out!" he called his transformation.

He searched through the area where the news said the akuma was. He could see several people running down the street, so he headed the opposite direction of them. There his sight landed on it. He didn't recognize this akuma, so it wasn't a repeat victim. It was a woman, small though, and he couldn't see her face. Her costume was a deep red, almost like blood, and she had a long black hood and cape. There were also some strange spots on certain parts of her body, not like his lady, they were fewer and farther between with different colors. She was also carrying some kind of staff and assaulting the Parisians that were trying to get away. He couldn't tell what her powers were, and Ladybug hadn't arrived yet. So, he would have to take his chances before someone got seriously hurt.

He jumped in and blocked the akuma's staff with his own. The people ran away as soon as there was an opening while he held her off. She was strong, but he could still hold her back. Most of her head and face was covered by her hood. All he could see was black lipstick, and some markings on her cheeks. She withdrew her staff, and got ready to swing again. He blocked her, and then went on the offense with a few swings and kicks of his own. She was able to evade him, and back away several yards. The akuma's stance said she was ready for him, but she hadn't said a word.

"Quiet one, aren't you? Usually akumas start demanding my miraculous by now." he took a moment to look at her. He still couldn't see her face, and the different colored spots had some kind of markings on them, but he couldn't see well enough of what, he was too far away.

"You're not the one." she finally spoke.

"Huh, the one what?" her words confused him. Maybe the object of her being akumatized hadn't been found yet. Maybe he could reason with her. "Look, whatever happened, and whatever Shadowmoth promised isn't going to make anything better."

"Get back you Imposter!" she screamed and charged at him.

"What!? I'm not an Imposter! I'm the one and only Chat Noir." he met up with her, and parried his staff with her a few more times. "I don't know what paw-sesses you to think I'm and im-paws-ter."

"You're not Real! You're not the One!" she landed a hit on his side, and he slid across the road.

"Meow-ch, your words hurt worse than your hits." he gasped for breath as he got back up. "I think you've got a bit of confusion going on here. Once Ladybug fixes everything..."

"Like I'll Believe your Lies!" she cried out. She then took her staff and tapped it to the road. Then she murmured something that Chat didn't understand.

All of the sudden the road started to crumble and fall apart, and headed in his direction. He tried to jump away, but the damage happened too fast, and he slipped among the falling rubble. He was able to grab hold of an edge to save himself last minute and pull himself up again. He turned around to look at the damage. It was so strange what she did, and so familiar. That power acted exactly like his cataclysm.

"Okay, here's where it would be a good time for Ladybug to show up." he started to get worried.

"I won't waste my time with Imposters like you." the akuma glared at him, or he assumed she was glaring at him. He still couldn't see her face very well.

"Alright I've had enough of this." with his baton at ready, he ran toward the akuma again.

Unfortunately, she got the drop on him by using her power again, this time sending the destructive power right in his path. His feet sunk into the crumbling stones, and one of his legs got stuck. Immobilized, all he could do was watch as the akuma headed toward him with her staff ready to strike.

"You won't get away from me!" she cried out.

He got ready to use his cataclysm on her, seeing no other way out of this without his lady. But before the akuma could touch him, she was struck by what looked like his staff, and she was sent into the ditch she created. Where did that come from?

"Boy this day is getting weirder and weirder." he heard a familiar voice.

"Nice of you to join the party, mi-..." he stopped himself when he saw who it was.

It was Lady Noir standing with her staff still out from striking the akuma. What? How was she here? This was impossible. He had his ring! Was this some kind of trick? She turned to look at him, but rather than recognizing him, she seemed just as confused. He quickly wiggled his way out of his trap and took his stick in a defensive stance in preparation for whatever happened next. He didn't know where his lady was, and this couldn't have been her, even if she had a different miraculous.

"Who are you?" he demanded.

"Who am I!? Who are you! Some sort of bad copycat!" she took the same stance as him.

"Very funny. I don't know what kind of game Shadowmoth is playing, but he must be slipping if he thought this could trick me somehow."

"I don't know what you're babbling about, but you must be the new akuma meant to copy my powers." she accused.

"What!? I'm not an akuma! You're the one that's probably an akuma, or a sentimonster!" he accused back.

"I'm the real thing, kitty-cat, and when I'm done with you -"

"I'm the one that's the real thing!" a thought struck Chat Noir. "Oh I see, you must be the Imposter person that akuma was talking about." he pointed where the akuma landed and looked, only to find that she had vanished. "Hey, where'd she go?"

"Oh great, now she got away, because I let you distract me, you bad kitty!" she growled.

"Hey, who're you calling bad!" he hissed.

"I call it like I see it." she smirked.

"Alright Senti-Noir, I'm gonna finish you off, and then take care of that akuma." he ran in her direction.

"Like I'm going to let some poorly copied cat akuma get the better of me." she retorted.

"I'm not a copycat! You're the Fake!"

In a split second, their batons clashed. They were at equal strength, so Chat tried to go under and swing a leg at her feet. But she used her baton to lift herself up and over him and tried to take a swipe at him with her claws. He took the moment to spin his baton to deflect it, then struck her hard, and knocked her away. She quickly bounced back up and made to strike him again.

This continued on for several minutes until they both heard a rumbling in the distance. Both cats turned in the direction of the sound to find a dust cloud forming a few miles away. Chat Noir wandered if Ladybug was over there. She might be in danger and needed his help. Here he was wasting time with this other cat. He would worry about her later, right now he had to make sure his partner was alright.

"Sorry Senti-chat, that's my cue to scat." he leaped off to the roof of a building and didn't look back or pay attention to the girl screaming after him.

He got there as quick as he could, but what he saw sent a whole new level of questions going through his head. There was someone that looked like a white version of him, another one with stripes, and Ladybug behind the striped cat. He raced over to get to Ladybug but got sideswiped by something that came up from behind him. He almost lost his footing, but he saved himself to see what happened. It was that Lady Noir again, only she was running past and away from him, and heading in the direction of...

"LADYBUG!" he cried out to warn her.

...

Ladybug couldn't make sense of what was in front of her. How had Chat Blanc happened? And where did this Tigre Mauve come from? If he had recognized her, she would have thought that Chat Noir got a hold of the tiger miraculous somehow, but that seemed more unlikely. He acted a lot like her cat, his face and hair style seemed similar, he even had the bell, only it was silver. Unlike Purple Tigress, the bolas weapon was all wrapped around his waist like a belt, and he had a tail connected to the suit. Was all this some sort of illusion made by Shadowmoth? Before she could contemplate it any further, she heard her name being called out. She turned to the direction of the voice, only to find something coming right up to her face. Next thing she knew, there was a staff pointed at her, and a very angry looking cat girl.

"What did you do with Red?!" the girl hissed.

Ladybug look at her for a second and recognized her as when she was Lady Noir from the pictures on the Ladyblog. How could that be? What was going on here? And what did she just ask her? "Who?"

"Don't give me that! The copycat I'm willing to let slide, but if you did something to my beetle..." she tapped her staff under Ladybug's chin in warning.

"I don't know who or what you're talking about! Who the heck are you anyway!? How are you Lady Noir!?" Ladybug was reaching her limit.

"Maotif?" Tigre Mauve spoke out next to them.

"Huh? Why is everyone saying my name wrong?" the cat girl sighed in annoyance, then went back to Ladybug. "Look you have three seconds..." before she could finish, she got tossed aside by Chat Noir.

"You leave my lady alone!" he growled in a near rage.

"Chat! You're okay!" Ladybug cried out in relief, but was still confused.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Are you alright, bugaboo?" he reached out to her in concern, looking her over for any injuries.

"I'm fine, but do you know what's going on?" Ladybug looked back to the other cats. The black one that looked like her had gotten back up by then, while the tiger one was looking at both of them in concern.

"My guess is Shadowmoth made some weird sentimonster copies." Chat gave his best answer.

"Okay, now I'm mad!" Lady Noir, or whoever she was, got back up to face Chat Noir again. "I'm getting really pissed with all of these copycats."

"And I'm getting tired of you calling me that!" Chat stepped in front of Ladybug to shield her. "I'm gonna put this cat down once and for all."

"Hey, you leave her alone." Tigre Mauve stepped in ready to strike.

"And I don't know who you are, but I'll deal with you next." Chat Noir hissed at him.

"I'd like to see you try." he growled back.

"I'll take both of you on." the girl cat added.

Ladybug wasn't sure how to handle this. She didn't know for a fact if these new faces were akumas, sentimonsters, or were somehow just miraculous holders. Should she let them use up their powers, and wait for things to cool down? Or maybe she should head out to get some reinforcements, but she didn't want to leave her kitty alone in all this. Either way this was going to be a serious three-way cat fight. Wait... wasn't there one more? She quickly turned to see Chat Blanc getting ready to attack all three of them.

"Chat LOOK OUT!" she screamed.

Chat Noir saw the assault coming, and quickly jumped away. The other two were far enough away so they didn't worry about getting hit. However, Chat Blanc still turned to them as if they were also a target.

"Oh right, forgot about you." Tigre Mauve said.

Chat Blanc didn't say anything back at him, but brought out some cataclysms at his fingers, and flicked them at each cat. They dodged it easy enough, and then he started to shoot out more. It was like a bell rang to start the fight. All of the cat like people started hitting and kicking at each other while trying to evade the attacks from the white one. Then Chat Blanc was chasing them away from Ladybug.

"Chat Noir, Stop!" Ladybug cried, worried about what would happen if he fought Chat Blanc one on one.

Naturally her clumsiness took that moment to kick in and she tripped over some of the rubble. She landed on her knee pretty badly, so it took a second for her to shake it off. Then she heard someone coming up from behind her.

"Are you alright, miss?" she heard a familiar voice, and turned to look. It couldn't be...

As if today couldn't get any stranger, there was the person standing over her that sent things on a whole other level. "Mister Bug?"

"Umm, not quite. Can you help me, I'm looking for my..." he was interrupted by a crash and looked ahead to see the brawl going on between the four cats. "Kitten!"

Ladybug took an easy guess to whom he was referring to. "Is the girl cat your partner?"

"Yes, I've got to help her." he got his yoyo out, ready to zip off when Ladybug stopped him.

"Wait, please. I need your help."

"Huh, with what?" he still had his yoyo out just in case.

"Look, I don't know what's going on here, how you're here, or how any of the others got here. But I do know that we need to stop Chat Blanc first, because he's the biggest threat." she tried to explain.

"So, he's the enemy?" he asked for clarity.

"I- I'm not sure if I would phrase it like that, but whatever he is I know that his level of destructive power is enough to wipe out the whole city." she didn't want to say how terrible Chat Blanc could actually be, but she figured this was enough.

Mister Bug's, or whoever he was, eyes widened in understanding. "So, what's the plan?"

She pulled out her own yoyo. "A little extra luck wouldn't hurt."

They both called out for their lucky charms and were presented with their items. Ladybug received a three-foot sized beach ball, while her male counterpart received a large innertube. They both looked at each other's charms in confusion.

"Well, I'm all for a day at the beach, but I don't think that's the idea here." he thought out loud and started looking for a plan.

Ladybug did a quick look around and saw that all the cats were still holding their own. It also didn't look like they used their powers yet. A plan started to form in her head, and by the looks of it the boy next to her was thinking the same thing.

"Alright, I know what we need to do." she took her yoyo and wrapped it around his innertube.

"Great, the name's Red Beetle, by the way." he added, doing the same with his yoyo.

"Ladybug, now let's go help our kitties." They both took off toward the fight.

By the time they got close enough, the three cats were currently trying to dodge the rapid assault given to them by Chat Blanc. Ladybug and Red Beetle took their chance, and threw the innertube connected by their yoyos, and ringed it around Chat Blanc's torso. Then used the cords, they reeled him back to separate him from the others. Hopefully they could get him close enough to where Ladybug can find the akuma. Unfortunately, the three cats saw this as another chance to continue fighting each other.

"Nice work milady, now I can handle these phony strays." Chat called out.

"No Chat... wait..." she tried to call for him, but she was struggling to keep Chat Blanc from escaping.

"No one is going to be handling me!" the girl cat growled back.

"Ebony Mao, stop." Red Beetle called for his partner.

"Let's settle this. Cataclysm!" Ebony Mao charged at the two.

"Cataclysm!" Chat Noir shouted back.

"Clout!" all three charged at each other one more time, powered up and ready to go for the kill.

It was in that same moment that Chat Blanc countered his restraints. The inner tube was around his torso and upper arms, but his forearms were still free. So, he grabbed hold of the cords, yanked at the two bugs, flung them overhead, and aimed them in the direction of the cats. Ladybug saw the opportunity and took her pokadotted beach ball, and placed it in between the two cataclysms making it absorb the destructive power. This gave them a small collision with their partners, but no damage. However, this did nothing to stop Tigre Mauve's clout power, and everyone got thrown several yards apart, getting the wind knocked out of them.

Ladybug's ears were ringing, but she forced her way up to look for her partner. "Chat Noir, you okay?"

"Barely." he grunted.

Red Beetle crawled over to his partner. "Kitten, you still with me? Can you get up?"

"That did not feel good." she was trying to catch her breath.

Tigre Mauve was the most fine out of the group, and looked over at the two pairs of heroes. Ladybug saw that he wasn't going to attack again, but rather was thinking over everything in front of him. "I'm not sure what's really going on here, but something tells me that none of us are the enemies here."

"No, I don't think we are." Ladybug was sitting up now with Chat, then looked behind him. "But that one is!" she called out.

No one had time to think. Chat Blanc had freed himself and prepared a mega-cataclysm, and held it high over his head. He then allowed it to expand and spread over them. Ladybug didn't know what to do or how to stop him. She didn't have her lucky charm, and everyone had used their powers. Nothing was preventing Chat Blanc from wiping them out. All she could do was grab hold of her kitty, and wait for the end.

"Wayzz, Shelter."

An: Well, I hope that was a nice bit of action for everyone. I always hear from writers how difficult it is, and I can understand, having to put in a paragraph of what only takes three seconds to happen. And concerning the names of the alternate heroes; Not that they were bad, but I figured that if you're going to make their background a bit different in order for them to gain different miraculouses, change the names up a bit. Plus, I was always confused with the name Lady Noir whether they were talking about the hero or the ship name, so I chose the name Ebony Mao. Then to me Red Beetle sounded better to shout out for the miraculous cure. One last thing, I haven't come across any yet, but if my story about these two has any similarities to other people's works, I promise it is purely coincidence. I hope this keeps everyone's interest for the next chapter.
