Prompt - Stray

Inside the art classroom, a couple of students stood in front of their canvas pulling their last streaks on their painting, while behind them passed the class teacher to see them do their work with a pleased smile.

"Your painting of the house is really impressive, Lily!" Commented the teacher making the girl with the fake pink-colored hair smile.

"Thank you, Miss Goode," Said the short girl, then the teacher moved on passing by a light-brunette, which was painting on the fur of a golden retriever a brown belly.

"Is that your dog?" Questioned the teacher making the teenage girl nod.

"Yep, that's Rosie," Responded the girl making the teacher nod.

"It's quite good. Are you going to add additional details related to her fur?"

"Yes, but tomorrow, when the paint has dry," Responded the girl making the woman nod and move on to a tan-skinned girl, that had painted geometric shapes on it, inspired by a familiar artwork.

"This was inspired by Simantha Della Rosso. I just did it with different shapes,"

"It actually looks great, Bebe," Complimented the teacher making the girl smile, afterward the teacher passed between all the students to get to the front of the class. "Students, if you haven't finished, don't worry tomorrow you've got another day, if you'd like to work on it. It's 7'o clock and I have to close the classroom," Warned the teacher earning a nod from the students, which grabbed their brushes to go wash their heads off.

"Holly, can you come over to my house?" Questioned Bebe. "My parents are gone over the night,"

"Sure, I can," Responded the light-brunette girl joining her friend by the lavatory to wash her brush. Afterward the two left and a girl with short, brown hair came to the lavatory, followed by the pink-haired girl to clean their brushes as well. Afterward they took a piece of tissue to dry it and went to place it down on the hold of their canvas. The brunette took a look again at her picture, which was a painting of a landscape. Holly passed behind the brunette, then took a look at the image and placed her hand on the girl's shoulder.

"River, that landscape looks amazing, what place is it inspired by?" Questioned Holly making the student smile.

"It was shown yesterday night throught the weather forecast on TV. I don't remember the place, but it was the one from SimTV2," Answered the brunette. "I have seen yours of your dog. It looks fascinating,"
"Thank you," Responded Holly, then the trio walked out of the classroom making their way across the corridor, then Holly stopped as her cellphone inside her pocket began to ring and she took it from her pants pocket to attend it.

"Who is it?" Questioned Bebe watching her friend attend the call and River made her way to the outside leaving the girls in there.

After stepping out, she gazed around the area where the school was located and looked at her right to see behind the local swimming pool the sun setting making River smile at how magnificent it appeared. River went stairs down, then heard a strange noise making her stop and move her face up to analyze if she had heard something at all.

"What's that?" Questioned the brunette, hearing a quiet noise, sounding like a animal-like whine. River looked at the stairs to see if she would see if the noise would come from there. River bowed down to the stairs to see if she would find something there. Meanwhile on the sidewalk on the ground appeared a small animal with a glass stuck in its head trying to find its way, getting in the stair's direction, then hit with the can on the stairs. The animal began to whine, slowly reminding someone of a puppy, this earning River's attention, which looked back at the ground to spot the can moving making River wide her eyes surprised at seeing it move.

"Oh no!" Spoke River getting down to meet the young animal, then watched the puppy run in another direction and River got to follow him into the road, then it turned in a U-turn back to head towards the stairs again, where it smashed with the glass against it, crash-landing with his butt, followed by whining. River got back to the sidewalk down on her knees to pick up the little puppy up.

"Don't worry, I'm going to help you," Promised the girl, then looked at the glass stuck on the dog's head making River warp her face, unhappy from wondering how she could help the puppy out of there.

Up at the school stepped out two teenage boys, who stopped at the entrance laughing from being chatting with each other about something. One of them, who wore a cap and had his head shaved noticed the girl holding something on his hand, then looked at the blonde boy in a blue shirt look away from the friend confused to see River there with the puppy.

"Ethan, Parker, good to see you here. I could use some help," Stated River making the blonde nod and walk down along with his friend to join the girl, which showed them the puppy.

"Why? Is that a dog?" Questioned Parker curious at seeing the animal stuck inside the jar. "What's that doing on his head?"

"Where did you find him, River?" Questioned the blonde, watching the girl roll her eyes on the ground.

"He was here on the ground. I heard something whining and spotted him here like this," River explained making the boys nod, then Ethan looked at Parker, which mirrored his facial expression and the blonde grabbed the puppy to hand it out to the friend.

"Hold him from under the belly, I will pull the jar out," Warned Ethan making the friend nod.

"Careful, I have seen, that the glass doesn't show any free space for the pup," Mentioned River making Ethan nod.

"Okay, look you have the thinner finger out of us three. Grab him gently by the neck, the way dog moms would do with their pups," Coordinated Ethan earning a nod from the brunette, which pressed the thick skin behind the dog's neck together gently and observed the blonde move the glass slowly with the two dark-head's help. Ethan saw, that he was getting the jar off the pup, then River used her other hand to shove her finger into the glass to help Ethan out, afterward, he made it to get the glass out of the puppy's head. The puppy had revealed its head, which was a little dirted by nature yogurt, which had been inside the jar and Ethan passed his finger over his head.

"He probably was hungry and thought he could eat from this without getting stuck," Commented Ethan making River nod. "The little fella could use a wash on his head," Commented Ethan watching River put her thumb in her mouth, then passed it over one part of the dog's head.

"Perhaps a quick bath?" Questioned River watching Parker shake his head.

"I heard, when we adopted our dog, puppies shouldn't be bathed," Mentioned Parker making River furrow her eyebrows confused about that info. "You might damage their skin and they're still growing. That's what the adoption center said,"

"Makes sense," Commented River making Ethan nod.

"A wet tissue might do the trick too?" Suggested Ethan making River nod.

"We got them at home. My mom's friend Molly has her baby, you know. I'm sure she doesn't mind borrowing me one,"
"What will you do afterward with the puppy?" Questioned Parker, then River slowly grabbed the puppy to get him into her arms, then noticed Parker had a small puddle on his hands.

"Did the puppy relief itself on your hands?" Questioned River a little disgusted as she felt the scent of the urine enter her nose.

"Oh that had happened during the removal of the jar, but I didn't want to interrupt the thing," Commented Parker shaking his hands to dry them, making River turn green disgusted by the boy not seeming to care about leaving for a handwash. "Did I do something wrong?"

"I…..thought you would wash your hands….." Commented River watching Parker cross his arms placing his hands on his jacket's sleeves making River roll her eyes at the blonde, which understood, why River felt nauseous about it.

"Eh…...he's a man…..." Commented Ethan, making Parker furrow his eyebrows at his friend's comment. "Will you keep the puppy in your house?"

"I think my mother would allow me to keep him. When just for a day or two, until he get him to see the vet," Commented River making Ethan nod, then Parker raised his finger.

"Actually….the puppy is a female," Stated Parker. "I didn't feel anything else under it,"

"That's great I guess," Commented River, then watched Ethan glimpse under the puppy's belly to check its description, then River moved the puppy away from him with a frown. "Hey! Give the girl some privacy,"

"I just wanted to make sure. Why in the world would I care about a dog's gender marks?" Asked the blonde making River shrug her shoulders.

"I don't know," Answered River, then she looked at Parker, which just gazed at the two teens. "One question, if there's a chance I can't keep the puppy, do you think your dog would be up to take the parenting role for her?" Questioned River making Parker move his arms, not having a decent answer.

"Dani's a male. I don't think he's up to parenting, unless it was his own litter. Also he doesn't have a girlfriend for that issue as well," Mentioned the raven-haired making River nod.

"Alright," Responded the brunette glimpsing down at the puppy, which had her head leaned against the girl's chest.

Later at the outside of the home, where River resides, she passed along the sidewalk followed by the two boys, which glimpsed at the home.

"Oh that's the house Lisa and VJ once had thrown eggs at!" Mentioned Ethan surprised, making Parker look confused at the friend.

"You saw the video. How weren't you aware of it?"

"I meant, I had no idea River lived in it," Corrected Ethan making the friend nod.

"Yes, except I wasn't home on that night, but my mother and her friend," Mentioned River making the guys nod, then watch the door open up to see the roommate of River's mom get out to the patio and spotted River along with the boys.

"Oh hey, are those your friends?" Questioned Molly making River nod.

"Well, classmates, actually," Corrected River. "Could you borrow me Sandi's wet wipes? We found this little dog here and he could use a little cleaning,"

"It's in the bathroom. The usual place," Responded Molly, then walked further on the path taking out from her jacket a cigar pack.

"Isn't she a cook at the bistro down there?" Questioned Parker looking at Ethan, which shrugged his shoulders.

"Yeah, she is," Responded River. "Do you guys want to come in or?"

"It's fine. I have to go home and see how things are doing," Stated Ethan making Parker nod.

"And I uh…..have nothing to do, but I'd be appreciated to get home early...or not so late," Responded Parker making River chuckle.

"Alright then. Thanks for your help. I will look out for this little fella here and tell you how things are going," Stated River making the boys nod. "See you next day," River said waving at the boys, which waved back making their way together along the sidewalk to head home.

River entered into the house, then went across the kitchen room to enter the bathroom and sat her inside the lavatory, then stepped a few steps aside to take a wipe out of the package and returned to watch the black-brown-colored puppy try to climb out of the lavatory, while whining.

"Hey, hey, hey don't worry. I'm just going to clean your head. I won't hurt you, I promise," Spoke the brunette grabbing the puppy gently around her body, then scruffed the head of the girl gently to remove the yogurt stains off the fur. During the task, the teenager noticed the fur was cleaner, then threw the wipe into the trash bin beside the toilet bowl and held the puppy up to analyze her from the sides.

"You look well for now," Commented River holding the puppy closer to her face to watch it sniff her face, afterward it licked her own snout making River smile and hold it with her hands closer to her. "You know, I'm going to look into the fridge to see if we got something we could give you. Otherwise, I have to search for alternatives for you until we can go to the vet to have you checked up, what do you say?" Asked River, watching the puppy glimpse at her neutrally. "Don't worry, we'll find you something," Promised the brunette walking out of the bathroom while carrying the canine.
