Prompt - "You washed your hands?"
Inside the community school during the break, the two teenage boys Ethan Bunch and Parker Langerak went to the restrooms to relieve themselves. Both were distanced at the urinals from each other, to respect each other's private area as most students do in public spaces.
"You know you can't always count on people to help you out. There's a point you gotta learn to your own wave," Mentioned Ethan. "Good, that you're now not copying people's homework to get good grades. You can study on your own too, you just have to figure out how,"
"I know, Ethan. I know. When River offered me help and we learned together for the exams, it felt easier for me. Alone I feel like I'm not doing anything right,"
"What did you do before, when you were doing the homework with me? Besides the copying part? How did you learn without me?"
"Where should I know?" Responded Parker. "I just remember copying all your homework. I wrote everything down on the sheet or my block and that's all. Perhaps, that's how I learned. This week I've been reading the stuff for the next test and I feel like I've got nothing inside my head,"
"Have you tried to read to yourself one of the questions and answer it out loud to you?" Questioned Ethan moving back from the urinal fixing his pants, followed by the urinal flushing. "Or use any of the methods you had with River?"
"I've been reading to myself the questions and answering myself, I've been copy-pasting the quiz onto a new sheet. I still feel like nothing has entered my head. Back there at the test and froze. I barely do that, even in the time before I got offered help. After you and Bebe went steady,"
"Perhaps you should talk to someone else about it like Holly," Suggested Ethan. "You might just be nervous or frightened about failure. If you now fail this test it's not the end of the world. You studied previously along with River, you have improved, made good and decent grades, and your average punctuation is great as it is now. Not as good as mine, but good enough to help you to the next grade," Ethan tried to comfort the best friend, which stepped back from the urinal watching it flush while adjusting his pants. "River's just got a cold, she will be fine next week. If you have the chance to talk to her, tell her, what was up and eventually she can help you find a way or two,"
"Well, she figured out how to get rid of my distractions, so I have a good feeling about that," Stated the raven-haired boy walking together with the blonde to the lavatory, so both would wash their hands.
"Oh you were a pro at distractions. You could be out there at the beach with the entire class and while everybody would admire the ocean….." Ethan commented pressing the button of the soap dispenser to obtain soap, followed by the friend, which did the same and rub the soap around his hands. "You would look up at the sky as a seagull would pass by carrying a fish on his beak…..." Mentioned Ethan watching Parker using the soap, afterward he set his hands under the running water tap to rinse them. Ethan dropped his mouth surprised at the friend, then watched him turn off the water tap. "You washed your hands?" Questioned Ethan surprised, then Parker shook his hands and looked at the best friend.
"I beg your pardon?" Questioned the friend back, which didn't listen to the blonde.
"You just have washed your hands,"
"Yeah, so?"
"You never used soap before," Mentioned Ethan. "You would just pass your hands under water and that's it," Stated the blonde making Parker nod, then look at the lavatory the rest water left through the hole with remains of soap, making Parker tilt his eyebrow and understand Ethan's comment.
"Oh…..uh….I just happened to do that. I actually didn't pay any attention to it," Confessed Parker, then walked towards the hand dryer to dry his hands. Ethan chuckled at his friend's strange reply.
"Something tells me this River does have a good impact on you," Spoke Ethan to himself while seeing his friend dry his hands.
