How had they ended up on this topic of conversation? Of all things about his life, about his whole universe, why was this what she had to ask him to teach her?
"Well, you start by kind of… pursing your lips together."
Rivet was sitting next to him on the roof of his garage, a somewhat common occurrence nowadays for the two of them. They had started a little ritual between the two of them, where at the end of the day they would sit and watch the sunset while they ate their dinner. It had started a few weeks ago when they had to wait for a late delivery. Now he looked forward to it every day, right up until now that is.
"L-like this?" She asked, and did just that, pursuing her lips together like she had just eaten something bitter or sour.
"Less tightly, and you wanna keep them parted just a bit."
She did as instructed and he suddenly realized the mistake he had made in instructing her to do that. Now he was being forced to make eye contact with her dazzlingly blue orbs while her lips were just as he had told her to make them and so tantalizingly close. It felt like not just his face, but his whole body was on fire right then.
"R-right… A-and then you would press your lips against the other person's. And then they wou-" As his lips came together to say the word 'would,' her upper body shot towards his. She took him completely by surprise with the impromptu kiss, though to call it that was a bit of a stretch. She was clearly unpracticed, not only by the fact that she had asked for his instruction on the act but also that it played out more like some giant or other such outside force had mashed their faces together, their lips landing in the vague area of the other's.
The contact was only for an instant before she pulled right back, but it was still more than enough to set his mind ablaze. It had been long enough to feel her warmth, smell that unique mix of oil and her own scent that he immediately became addicted to, and taste the sweet hints of her lips on his.
She immediately avoided his eyes that were wide with shock, staring back off into the distance.
"L-like that?" She asked with a squeak. He wasn't sure how to respond at first, emotions swirling and churning in his heart and mind like a roiling storm. He sat there in a stupor for a few moments before resolving himself, internally saying:
Screw it
"No." She chanced a look back at him, and he swore he could see a blush beneath her fur thanks to its light color. "More like this."
He reached over and grabbed her chin, gently turning her the rest of the way towards him. This second kiss was longer and most certainly better. Rivet still didn't know what she was doing, but her enthusiasm more than made up for it, and she'd get better with time anyway. After all…
It was only her first lesson
