Just when I pulled up into Arendelle, I decided to have a look around. If this was going to be new kingdom, I had to know where everything was after all. I can't run around blind inside of my own kingdom.
I did see Elsa on my tour. The people of Arendelle say that she is going to be queen. I examined her as people started conversations but they were all put to an end with the raise of a hand. Elsa, the new queen of Arendelle, doesn't care for her subjects, just like father. He didn't care about me and let his sons do the same to me. She's a recluse.
There is no point in marrying her. She wouldn't listen to a thing I have to say. Maybe I should just go to another kingdom and have better luck there.
That's when it hit me. Literally. A young woman with ginger hair and a green dress crashed into me, knocking me off of Sitron. "Oh, I'm sorry!" she said quickly. "I didn't mean to-" She stopped halfway through.
"No, it's fine. I was just getting off," I said. I helped her up and she removed a bucket.
"Hi. I'm Anna."
"I'm Hans."
She stood there, smiling at me. She exhaled deeply. The bells tolled and that took her out of her trance. "Oh! I'm going to be late for my sister's coronation!" she cried.
"Your sister's- are you the queen's sister?" I checked.
"Yeah, I am! Pleased to meet you, Hans, but I really gotta go!" She ran off before I could say anything else.
This is it. I found her. My wife. Once I marry her, I can steal the throne from Elsa. I can marry Anna, and kill Elsa. Then father would see that I don't need to be the youngest and weakest brother. Then I would finally come out of their shadows. Then father will finally respect me.
I gathered in the main hall of the coronation. It's a lovely castle but the chairs are small.
I sat down in the corner, to watch, to examine. Some guy sat next to me and a few minutes before it started, he fell asleep on me. Ugh, are all the people here like this? I tried to push him off but he just returned onto my shoulder. I tensed my shoulders and sighed. I have to get used to this. He's not moving and I'm not going anywhere until this is over.
During the after party, it was time to dance. I went to ask Anna to dance. Mostly so I could get away from her sister. She's been giving me glares of all sorts since I got here and I don't even know why. I haven't done anything, just plotted.
"Anna, would you care to dance?" I asked.
"Yes! Of course!" she cheered.
While we were dancing, she told me her life story. Trapped behind doors for all of her life. This is her first time going outside of the castle. She's been stuck inside with no one to talk to, her sister didn't even look at her, and worse, she has no parents.
Her story sounds almost like mine. She has a sibling, although I have twelve others and all but one hate me, I do have parents but mother barely speaks to me and father despises me, I've been locked in the shadows of my brother, invisible to the rest of the Southern Isles. This could work. Taking the kingdom for my own. Anna is too naïve to know what I'll do.
Elsa's gone crazy. She apparently has been gifted with ice powers and is now on the run. Now I really need to kill her. She is stronger than me and f she figures out my plan to take over her kingdom, she will kill me. I need to be swift and clever to drag her into my trap. She can't stop me. Not when I'm so close.
"What? Do you have powers too? Are you cursed too?" the round faced duke of...Weaselton was it? Whatever. I need to protect Anna. I have already asked her to marry me, which she agreed to without hesitation, so it would be necessary. "No, she's normal," I replied, coming up next to Anna and putting my hand on her shoulder. She glanced at me with a look on her face that I should rephrase what I said. "In the best way," I told her. She smiled and looked back at the duke.
Elsa running loose could ruin everything I've planned. It could ruin how far I've gotten. It could ruin me coming out of my brother's shadows and proving to father that I'm not a worthless nobody. Prove to him that I could be just as powerful as my brothers, stronger in fact.
Anna put me in charge to run her kingdom. She ran off to go find Elsa, so I have to do what I'm told. I can't ruin my picture. I have to be a good fiancé and show Arendelle what I want them to believe. They will hate me once I kill Anna, most likely, but once I become king, they can't overthrow me. This kingdom ruins on heir lines, just like mine, so this should go smoothly once I marry Anna and kill Elsa. Just like that.
Except Elsa running away put a small break in my plan. But that's okay. I just have to wait for Anna to come back with her sister and put up my plan for a little while longer after that.
I think Elsa is on to my plan however. Anna and I came to her earlier to ask for her blessing and she declined. She said that 'you can't marry a man you just met.' She doesn't trust me, not like her sister. Elsa is a tough obstacle to get through. I can manage.
I received news that Anna was hurt by her sister. Elsa, the queen of ice, hurting her own sister. Just like my brothers, princes of the Southern Isles. That made me snap. I have to go and get Anna to come home. I have to kill Elsa then and there. No hesitation. A moment of pause could mean the end for me and my army. It could mean the end of my plan, which I keep having to change with all these...difficulties getting in the way. If Anna doesn't ruin this for me, it should be smooth sailing from then on. But first, to the North Mountain.
"Men!" I called. My army came as quickly as they were called. "We need to go to the North Mountain. Elsa hurt Anna, my fiancé, and she has yet to return. Elsa must be eliminated."
"Right! Yes, sir!"
"To the North Mountain!" I called.
Anna is safe, I don't know where she ran off to, but she is safe. I didn't kill Elsa. I decided to give her a chance to hand the kingdom over to me. Instead, I have her locked up in the dungeon. However, once I arrived, a powerful snow storm whipped up and it only got worse the closer to Arendelle she got.
I decided now would be a good time to talk to her, so I brought a few of my men with me. Elsa should be conscious now so she should talk. "It's frozen shut!" one of them cried.
"What do you mean?" I asked. I shook the door with no avail. The door is frozen shut. "Break it down if you have to!" I cried.
Just as they were ordered, they began to kick the door until it broke open. Elsa wasn't inside however and was now running free in Arendelle. "She's gone," one of my men said.
"I know! I can see that!" I replied. My voice rose. Elsa is ruining my plan! I need to find her and kill her! I should've killed her when I had the chance.
"Hans!" a voice called from behind me. I turned to see Kai. "Anna has returned but she is gravely ill."
"Bring her inside. I'll care for her."
I walked away from Elsa's cells and closed the door behind me. Elsa is gone. Anna came back. They can't seem to stay in one spot. Elsa must be eliminated. She's messing everything up.
When I entered Anna's room, I closed the door behind me. I can improvise. Anna is dying so I have to fake that she did and tell them her 'vows.' That she wants me to rule the kingdom in her stead.
"Hans!" Anna called.
"Anna! Are you okay?" I acted.
Her hair is mostly white at this point. I remember what she said before about that single white strand in her hair. She said that she was born with it. "Hans, my hair is white because Elsa hit me in my heart with her magic and the only way to help me is to kiss me!" she rushed.
So her hair is white because of Elsa's magic. Elsa really is powerful. More than she knows. She's dangerous.
"A true love's kiss," I replied.
"Kiss me!" Anna demanded. I smirked. This is it. This is how I do it. This is how I fake out the rest of my plan. Anna will die since her heart is frozen. I will kill Elsa since she killed 'the queen.' Then I will appoint myself king and Arendelle will be mine.
I leaned in closer to Anna. I had to trick her into thinking that I cared about her. She was too naïve and fell for it. I stopped before I touched her lips. "Hans?" she asked in a whispery voice.
"Oh, Anna," I put my hand on her chin and lifted up her head, "if only there was someone out there who loved you." I removed my hand and walked towards the curtains. "Hans? W-what do you mean?" Anna asked, falling off the couch Kai put her on. I closed the curtains.
"It was my plan all along. And since you're going to die, I see no waste in telling you. You see, I was going to marry you to get the throne."
"H-Hans! W-why?" She asked, her voice shaky.
"Remember what I told you at Elsa's coronation? About how I loved you? I lied."
"H-Hans-"
Love was an open door, love was an open door, I began. Could've been so much more with you. With you. Love was an open door. I mean it's crazy. You thought I fell in love with you. Ha! I never met someone who thought that that was true. Our foolish synchronization can have but one explanation, you and I were not meant to be. Say goodbye to the days of your life. You won't have to feel them anymore. Love was an open door. Love was an open door. Couldn't be that much more, with you. With you, it was never an open door.
It was much slower than before. I watched as Anna's eyes watered and a single tear fell down before it froze on her cheek. Anna tried to reach me but she didn't have the strength. I walked towards the fire with a pitcher of water. "You see, Anna? It was all a charade. I never wanted to marry you because I loved you. I wanted your kingdom, Arendelle."
I poured water onto the fire, setting it out. "You'll just die here, bringing the truth with you."
"H-Hans! P-please!" I walked out of the door. "I found what I was looking for."
Author's Note
My mom and I were talking about Hans' villain song. We felt it was incomplete and that his character was the same way. I suggested a reprisal. We all agreed it was a good idea and it would make him feel more complete. So, here it is. The story I thought about and his reprisal! Thank you for reading!
