My Heart Bleeds For You PT.2

It had started like any other day, well any other day since we had found Aang.
My brother Sokka begging that I let him kill Aang, then me adamantly telling him no, then me and Aang going off and just messing around having fun.
It was normal up until we came to the abandoned Fire Nation war ship, it was a scar from the first raids on my village nearly fifty years ago.
I hadn't wanted to get any closer, but Aang insisted. Normally I wouldn't be the one to be pressured into a situation I didn't want, but for some reason, I felt the need to impress Aang.
So in we went, exploring the gigantic metal structure, going pass old weapons, and even some skeletons,
That was when Aang finally became aware of the century long war he had been in the ice berg for. The moment he realized that everyone he knew was all but gone.
I've never been the compassionate type, not since the cave, but in that moment, I really felt for Aang. Like I could relate to him and that we could understand each other.
That was also when I had an epiphany. No matter what, I couldn't let Sokka harm Aang, I had to protect him. Whether it was for my sake or his I can't be sure.
But that moment didn't last forever, as we had found ourselves setting off a old booby trap in the ship that set off a flare, and locked us in the ship.
I thought we were trapped, until Aang scooped me into his arms bridal style and told me to hold on.
He jumped out of a hole in the ceiling, and brought me back down safely outside of the ship on the ground.
I must say, that moment made my heart jump, but I couldn't dwell on it long, I knew the village and possibly a Fire Nation ship could have saw that flare, so we needed to get back to the village.
Of course when we got back to the village, Sokka and the rest of the people were waiting for us. My brother then started spouting how Aang was signaling the Fire Navy with that flare and needed to be banished.
Of course the rest of the village thought that was the real reason, but I knew he only wanted Aang banished for…. His own reasons.
His smirk said it all.
Of course Aang being the kind soul he was, would have gone in peace, but I couldn't let that that happen in good faith.
I would have gone with him if that Fire Nation ship hadn't showed up, if that strange teen with a Scar hadn't demanded for us to give him the Avatar.
The Avatar hadn't been seen in over a hundred years, the world believes he was killed along with the other Airbenders in the air nation genocide, and that he was never reborn.
But I suppose given the fact that Aang was the last Airbender, I could have suspected it. Although it didn't make the reveal any less shocking.
He ended up giving himself up, so that we could safe.
I knew right as the ship pulled away we had to go after him, I couldn't let him die.
So I decided to go after him, me and Sokka after some convincing, set off on Appa, to go and rescue him.
Although when we caught up to the warship, it became very obvious, that Aang didn't exactly need the help, he appeared to be in the avatar state I had heard about from legends.
He looked so powerful, not to mention pretty good looking as well, but that's all looking back on it now. At the time I remember feeling a little scared.
But no matter what I felt. It was obviously destiny for us to help Aang along his journey, Aang had promised me that he would help me get to the North Pole to find a master.
Sokka was more intrigued at having a chance to finally be back in a prime hunting environment, so that decreased his hunger for Aang….
For Now.
