Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Curse of the Wendigo. Enjoy the 5000-word chapter. I don't own RWBY; Monty and a few others do.

It was by the next day that Velvet had started acting… Oddly weird when it came down to it.

Coco watched as her partner tore into a piece of steak, something that she had abhorred doing before or was at least reluctant when it became obvious.

Her teeth had become slightly sharper, tearing through the meat like a wolf would have done so. She ripped part of the flesh off and shredded it.

"Ok… Did you lose a bet or something?" Coco stated before she shook her head. "There's never been something like that. You don't eat meat like this." Coco said before Velvet ripped part of the steak, her sharpened teeth cut through the steak like it was a piece of paper.

Velvet dropped the piece of meat. There was a silence as of the time being. she rubbed at her nose, looking down at the ground as she started to dab at her neck with a napkin.

"Sorry, I'm hungry." Velvet said before she got up from the table and left to go back to their dorm for the time being.

"Ok. Why is Velvet acting like this? She's been a little tiring, for now, she's been all over the place since this morning." Coco said as she turned to look at the others. "There's something weird going on. She got up like she was processed." Coco said as Fox shrugged.

"That mission did seem a bit off, but she already told us some giant monster slaughtered the Grimm attacking Velvet," Fox said while he sighed. "If it was so easy? We had a lot more problems to handle besides that. There's a lot more to do anyway." Fox said before he rubbed at his temples.

He was greeted by Velvet slowly starting forward. She hadn't yet gotten where it should have been. This place hadn't yet gotten where it should have… And now Velvet was acting like this? Well, she could have possibly programmed herself to act differently, Fox couldn't have seen what was going on inside her head so he couldn't have said anything.

He looked in Velvet's direction and wondered just how often she'd be like this. She wasn't exactly like this often. No, she wasn't at all before it came down to it…

(With Velvet)

Velvet proceeded through the group of people like they didn't exist, she felt faster, stronger, and a lot better than she had a few seconds ago. She hadn't yet gotten that out of her systems.

Velvet looked around as she straightened up, her ears started to twitch as she turned to look around before finally sniffing the air, something she pondered if that was entirely alright for now. There was a lot more to have done and question.

She looked at a Black-haired boy with piercing yellow eyes which made her reminded of Blake. It almost made her wonder if they were related before, she sniffed and air again and ran away before she turned to have looked around… There were a few seconds of silence for now. this hadn't yet been done and dusted.

She sniffed the air with interest. There was a rather familiar scent with which to have given some sort of power here. Something that she had wanted.

She left within seconds and left the boy curious who had been too decided for now. It had been something that had gotten out of hand on his mind.

Coco and the others watched as Velvet stopped only to pick one of the shreds of meat out of her teeth. She had still been too nice for it as she frowned and almost teared up before running deeper into the school with tears.

"Ok, she's going to be scary…. Fox? Do you think you can talk to her? I want to ask the doctor what the hell that mark on her was from, it didn't heal with time." Coco said while she sighed and rubbed the wrong way when it came down to it.

She rubbed at her nose before she looked downwards at the being. There were a lot more horrible things afoot she believed and something had yet gotten off track. Whatever this had been before now? Well, it was a lot more to question and a lot more to have figured out for it all to be said and done… This had yet to have been done and dusted.

She knew more than enough about what would have happened for now if they didn't get this all said and sorted properly.

It had only served to push him further and further where he could best be described for a manner in which she hadn't wished to have been. There was only so much more that has been done to now, only so much more that could have been handled.

Yes, this all had to be ended before it seemed to have been a problematic endeavor. She didn't know what it seemed to have been done and dusted.

(2 hours later)

Velvet seemed to look up at the ceiling before she felt drawn into the desert again. She slowly walked towards her scroll which lasted for a longer time than it should have been. The battery seemed to have lasted for a lot longer than it should have been.

She tilted her head before she sniffed the air. She had questioned what this feeling was for now.

"Large creature sighted near Vacuo's city of Kenyte." Velvet stated as she read over it.

She rubbed at her temples as the moonlight shone down on her. She sniffed the air again and decided she'd continue to look into the creature. It had left her alone after slaughtering a pair of Grimm… Why? Why had it seemed to have spared her not anyone else?

Velvet hummed and slowly slipped into the closet where she had her clothes. She looked at her clothes before she started to slip into them, pondering where the beast had been before now.

She questioned what to have done if she tracked them down. The monster was much stronger and faster when it had found her, yet it had left her alone. There was so much more on her mind which made her tilt his head she clicked her head while she prepared to have done something

(Near Kenyte)

The beast looked up at the moon. It sniffed the air as bones and tendons snapped like they were little pieces of chicken. The beast growled before it surged forward, pieces of sand swirling around it… The beast screeched as it saw something explode out of the sand towards him.

The deathstalker screeched, its fangs slowly dripping with venom as it charged forwards at the beast. It was something that angered the Grimm while it attacked with all it had, its claws slowly started to have carved into themselves.

This place was something else. The beast slammed into the Deathstalker and slammed down the hill. It roared at the giant beast and backpedaled, dodging several of its stabs which tossed dirt all around them. The beast roared, too unsure of what had been coming, how this had been all coming down to it or him.

The Grimm watched as the sand slowly started to have fallen on them. The beast was prepared for the charge and held out its giant hands to intercept the monster which slammed into it with him. It roared in the Grimm's face, prepared for the worst.

"Gr…." The Beast seemed to growl out before he sniffed the air and tossed the scorpion to the side.

This was a tilt of his head before he clicked his head and slowly started to think of what this problem had been. There was a lot more to have been prepared for… This idea had been digging into his mind. It cut and slowly started to wiggle through his mind which seemed to have done before.

It clicked in his mind that this was all said and done slowly. He was happy. He was a lot more thought in his mind that made him laugh before he seemed to have done something smart. That would have been a first.

This hadn't yet gotten to be boring. It had thrown him off, making his senses dulled and torn from all the wear and tear. He wasn't too sure what it was for now.

The beast roared, gripping the giant scorpion's pincers as it began to look for a way to see through its armor as if it didn't exist. Still? That would take time… And he was thrown backward by the Grimm's tail, the tail barely missing his shoulder.

The hulking wolf-like beast was thrown down the dune, sand whirling around him. He hadn't yet questioned what it was all said and done… It was all so odd for now.

The beast watched as the Grimm charged around before he unfurled his claws and slashed at the Grimm's arm which parted into the sand.

Its right pincer broke apart and slowly started to flow away into dust as the beast roared and set upon the weakening Grimm. The Grimm tried to swing its tail towards it before it tossed the beast to the ground.

The beast looked at its shoulder where it had been clipped and thick red blood slowly started to have pooled on the sand. It roared before it slammed its fists into the creature, shattering its stomach which had been something that finally killed it.

This was fun, an enjoyable task if not for the fact that the piece of trash animal had harmed him. He hated the idea of having been harmed, of having been hurt. Twice the Grimm had managed some sort of cheap shot that had broken his skin, twice it had made him too tired, too thrown off by such an odd little task.

Well, this wouldn't have been over easily. The beast looked at the beast before tossing its corpse down the dunes, dusting himself off before he looked down.

He rubbed at his nose. He was weaker which it had been done and such. He was annoyed, very annoyed for the monster that this was all over and dusted. It seemed to have gotten to such a problem… This problem hurt and it cut into him, he didn't even know where the smell was coming from that had drawn him here. The damn nose he had seemed to have a thousand new scents all cluttering it.

"Grr…." The beast said before a Bullhead slowly started to have done for now.

No, this couldn't have been done for now. She seemed to have been prepared for now. This could have been done without for now. He was terrified of what would happen if they caught him which he prepared for now.

There was all too much on the mind. So much that it had hurt worse than before… Yes. This was going to have been such a problem. It was all too done for now. Such a fun thing that it should have been going on and on and on, however?

The beast was silent for a moment before a scent cut the air in half. It knew this smell. It knows what it was. The scent was so familiar, so odd. It hadn't yet passed through the beast's brain that it wasn't alone in this world.

However? A small part of his brain decided to wait. He could outrun the craft if the machine slowly started to have approached him.

There was an interest that he didn't want to focus upon for now. It'd have been a nice little idea to have waited and seen what came after this, too unsure what to do otherwise. There was so much he could have done to remedy this….

And yet? He did nothing as more Grimm, a massive Nevermore swooped overhead. The Grimm shrieked before unfurling a hail of feathers that he hadn't been prepared for… Several of them cut the truck-sized wolf, knocking him to a knee and causing more of the crimson liquid to spill before his body glowed orange.

The beast roared and gripped the crumbling claw before tossing it as he collapsed to a knee. His aim was off as the appendage did not pierce the Grimm's heart as he had hoped for. No, it simply sliced one of its wings and sent it screeching into the sands as the sound of footsteps made the beast turn.

The girl… The one whom he had encountered only half a day ago. The beast roared, snarling and frothing saliva that mixed with the blood coming from his body. it was a stupid gesture; she could see the feathers had cut gashes into his body which hadn't been deep but had more than softened him up.

He collapsed to his knees. The beast's eyes narrowed at her chocolate ones as she sniffed the air. He was curious for a moment. However? He saw what had drawn her to him. This was a horrible thing, something that had been beyond their saving, beyond what it seemed to have been. There was a nightmare brewing in his mind to which there was no real cure, nothing that could have allowed it to have proceeded this far.

He had passed the blood of himself, the curse that dwell within his body to her. It made him more and more terrified as he preyed on his demise now… That damned mark opposed everything he had wished to have been for now sadly.

There were a few more seconds of silence as he felt it all wash over him. It all cut through him like butter and a hot knife.

She continued to approach as he growled, roaring angrily at her before she stepped up to him. The werewolf growled, puzzling if she was insane to have approached him. Perhaps she had shattered her head on the ground when she had fallen from the dune? The beast might suppose.

She reached out a hand towards the beast's muzzle which puzzled it before there was a piercing screech that made the beast wince and covers his ears.

The Nevermore rose, its wings shedding feathers as it screeched defiance at the group which dared deny it the kills it felt it had been entitled to. There was a moment of silence as the Faunus looked at the beast.

"You're not evil, are you?" Velvet asked as her eyes glowed a supernatural blue.

The werewolf could only stare in horror at what had happened. This was the worst-case scenario at the time. He had infected her with the curse, damn him, damn him to hell and back with all of this.

He knew vocalizing was hard, not impossible. The damned curse hadn't taken away his ability to speak, only made it hard to focus and not give into the bestial instincts inside of his mind. This was all too much for him. It hadn't yet gotten where it should have been for now. The chaotic madness inside his head told him that it had been enough of an answer.

"Yes…." He said, his voice sounding scratchier and hoarser than it should have been.

The Grimm took flight, a group of bugs like Grimm surging behind it… Sulfur Fish, the damned bugs which combined all up and down with this problem washing over his head.

He held out a tree trunk-like arm towards her. He could sense the curse growing inside her body. it wouldn't take root tonight; it was too early. However? He could still see the signs, her eyes burned like him, and her teeth were beginning to adapt to the fang-filled maw it would become when she transformed.

"I'll help." She said before she rushed forwards as he cursed mentally and slammed a meaty hand into the sands, tossing it left and right.

Even as the curse compelled him to take her, vanish into the wastes, and await her breakdown into another of its kind? He resisted, drawing himself to go help her when it resisted and wished that it'd let her succumb to the beast inside.

She rushed the Sulfur Fish, the damned bug like Grimm starting their combination ability which would turn them into a hulking abomination that often feasted upon Hunters. He wasn't sure for now if the curse had driven her mad.

He did know he had to protect her even if it meant his death. That was exactly what it should have been.

The werewolf-like beast charged forward, growling as it decided to kill the Nevermore which would the obvious air support which led to their dangers sooner or later. The Grimm hated him more than the others for now when it came down to it.

The beast attacked the Grimm. The Nevermore had attacked him with the strength that it had from before. It was something that had thrown him down the hill.

He growled and slammed his hands into the sand which kicked up sand and started to swirl around him. He hadn't yet gotten his thoughts together which told him exactly what the hell it was all said and done.

The girl didn't seem scared. He hadn't yet gotten where it should have been for now. This was an odd little thing that had spiraled out of control over and over and over. It repeated itself endlessly inside his mind. There were a lot more problems when it came down to what it should have been.

He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. He wasn't a proper plan when it was all said and done before it seemed to have done with it. He was all over the mind. He didn't know what to do next. The Grimm set in like a plague as the beast roared, driving its hands into the air and bringing them down on the Grimm which dodged for only a moment.

It was thrown down the hill. He roared at the giant Grimm which roared in anger. He hadn't seemed to prepare for the beast when it attacked, an eagerness in his moments.

He growled and beat his bleeding chest, screeching in anger before the Grimm tried to swoop down to attack him, more feathers dropping down upon him. It seemed to be so bored as of now.

"Run." Velvet heard before the Nevermore slammed into him, its entire body throwing him down the hill.

It was far too interested in killing the monster that had wounded it. The Grimm roared, screeching at the Werewolf's face to which the werewolf roared back. He reached up, gripping its wings and tearing backward, a terrible ripping noise splitting the air as the Grimm's wings were parted from it.

He was too distracted to notice the golem-like form of the Sulfur Fish slamming into its back. He was thrown to the ground and then felt the creature break apart to try and swarm him.

It was then he heard the sounds of a weapon and turned to see bullets that cut through every single one of the monsters, dicing them into pieces.

"Damn…" The werewolf stated before he clicked his tongue and licked at his wounds as dust-filled smoke slowly started to fly around before the beast stood up.

He clicked his claws on the ground as she slowly started to walk up to him. He tried to growl only to feel his strength wane and start to leave him… ripping and tearing like a damn paper bag. It was a lot worse of a nightmare for now.

This was just too much as it crashed to its knees and made him look over his shoulder. The pain that spiraled through his body felt like a damn anchor weighing him to the ground as he looked over and around for now.

He turned to see her frail and small hands on his face. He felt so small, so fragile around her… It hurt, but he felt as if he had been slowly drifting them down to the bottom of the ocean. He tried to swat her away, tried to show some anger that had managed to scare her. Maybe she'd end this damned curse and he'd be free and able to relax. This would end, he wanted it to end so damn badly.

He wanted so badly to scream, to scare her off. It wouldn't have worked that way, not the way he had wished to see it all comes down to it. They had such a problem that it could only have gone downhill from there if anyone had any sort of say within this as of the time being.

He didn't know what it'd have brought. He didn't want to know. It terrified him to no damn end when it was all said and done. Velvet simply glanced at him as he tried to force her away, she'd get hurt, he knew damn well what would have happened if he lost control.

She simply placed a hand on his muzzle as the werewolf seemed to have prepared mentally prepared for worse, there was only so much he could have done to scare her off besides harming her.

His eyes glowed the hellish red of the Grimm as he glanced at her. Her eyes glowed a hellish yet soft blue as he cursed mentally but physically and said nothing as to how this could have happened and what should have happened to have gotten it so far.

He growled only to fall silent as the girl tilted her head and allowed him to rest his hands on the sand for balance. A light breeze was all that greeted them, it was the only noise they had here and the only one that could be heard for miles and miles and miles.

"You can talk? Why didn't you say anything?" Velvet asked before he tried to push her away. "DON'T…" Velvet said, her fangs slightly peeking through her lips.

She wasn't scared. Of course, she wasn't scared, the curse was just pushing her towards him more and more as of the time being when it came down to it.

"Scared." He said before he clicked his teeth. "Run… Might hurt you, monster." He said while gesturing to himself as he looked around. "I might hurt you." He said before she frowned and looked deeper into his eyes.

"You're not going to be, ok?" Velvet stated to which she seemed to get tilt his head before it came down to it.

"I don't know… Why aren't you scared?" Velvet heard as she tilted her head. "Are you going to be, ok? You're a friend." Velvet stated to which she tilted her head.

He sniffed the air. There was nobody else here besides her and the town. How did she…? Ah, he understood how she had gotten here. She had taken a Bullhead and flown it all the way here. Yes, such a fascinating thing when it has gone the way it should have.

She slowly opened her mouth which showed him all of the fangs within her maw… Or to be blunter? Two massive fangs took up plenty of space and seemed to be as retractable as before.

There was something else here, what she was like him. She was entirely like him. the curse would consume her if it had been anything like him at the edge of the day. This was such an odd thing to have to understand when it was all said and done.

He rubbed at his nose and then slowly reached out towards her again. She wasn't ready for him to have been doing this as it seemed to have been over.

Yes, over. He wanted it to be over for now. There was more to her story than it seemed.

"What are you?" Velvet questioned to which she had been so unwilling to have done such a thing. "What are you doing here? You killed those Grimm, but you left me alive." Velvet stated to which he sighed.

"Monster…" He said before he clicked his tongue. "Please, run. I don't want to hurt you." Velvet heard as she shook her head and looked down.

It was then she heard a cracking of bones within her as he straightened up. Within seconds, she felt herself within the clutches of the beast who had lifted her upwards, clutching her in his claws. His eyes glowed a hellish red as he spoke.

"That mark on you…. You have the curse." He growled, cradling her within his claws as such. "The curse… Within 5 days, you will awaken the beast within, little rabbit. You will come to me as all who have the mark do. That damned Grimm created me, but I will make sure that you join me. I will not be controlled." He said before she growled at him.

"You do not own me… Even if you marked me." Velvet growled to which the beast chuckled. "Leave them out of this, the Wendigo made us… But I'm curious, you do not control me." Velvet said to which he smirked.

"No, but you are drawn to me. That curse will transform you as it did me from a little wolf to a king of beasts." He said as he tapped her arm where the mark glowed. "You are linked to me, just like every being with that mark is, maybe you have the scent, or maybe the curse's magic connects us. I feel your presence when you drew closer, even when you were countless miles away." He added before he shook his head

"What are you?" Velvet asked before he rolled his eyes at her.

"A Canid from what that damned Wendigo calls me, a creature similar to the Grimm, but distinct from them. I do not have their vile taint within my blood, I don't let them control me, and I am not one of their beasts." The beast said before he chuckled.

"You're a Faunus?" Velvet asked as the beast shrugged, looking around the room.

"The form I have when this power fades away… I suppose." He said before he let out a snort. "Reo saw you this morning, I knew for a fact that I saw you, but I didn't expect you to have that curse within you as you did now. It's a lot more interesting when I think about it." He said before there was another snapping noise and his eyes dimmed slightly.

"Run. Stop trying to… Run, please, I don't know what will happen if he gets out again. I don't want to hurt you." He said before he dropped her. "There's no saving me. I won't let the curse control you like it does me. I won't, I can't like it the way you expect it to." He said before he tilted his head to the side before it was all over.

"No, I want to help you." Velvet stated to which he sighed mentally again.

He wasn't sure of what to have done if she denied his advice, he couldn't throw her as that would harm her, he couldn't scare her as she had seemed to fully understand what was going on. He could not even attempt to carry her away, whatever the curse had done had made them both connected.

So instead, it seemed the only course was him cradling her in his arms, one of his hands which was the size of her body clasped around her waist so she didn't fall and his other hand clasping her dainty right one which wasn't even a faction of her size.

It made it seem more like one of those odd movies that he had become accustomed to ignoring back at Vacuo as he tried and failed to release her. He simply decided then he'd find somewhere to wait for the curse to die down and allow him to hitch a ride back to Shade Academy.

"Where are we going?" Velvet asked as the beast sighed.

"Wherever I can think for a moment and get my bearings." He stated before he frowned. "And to explain why you should kill me to get rid of the damn curse you have." He said as he slowly climbed to his feet and moved towards the desert.

He sniffed the air and questioned if it was smart to use the burrow the Deathstalker was from. It was perhaps the only thing that he could think of.

No, he perched an ear up and listened to the noises besides shifting stand under his feet. There was a slight drip of water to the ground which made him inwardly smile. A cave, one where he could have relaxed properly.

"I won't kill you just because of a curse." Velvet said before she hummed. "Your Reo? The one the best told me about?" Velvet questioned to which he frowned and nodded.

"Yes, and I wish you listened to more than possible," Reo stated before he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. "And I'm aware of what that fact more then you seem to be, it's why I'm so damn worried." Reo stated as he frowned, looking at her with interest.

He knew there was nothing he could have said to have talked her down, so he simply hoped she was prepared for the worst of the worst.

Author Notes

Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out from this point the story will slow down and I'll show the main villain next chapter as well as the curse. I don't want this to be too cliché so I'll be cutting some stuff. Next chapter is in 2-10 months and will show both Vvelvet and Reo bonding and more about the curse. Until the 900-6500 word chapter, Lighting Wolf out!
