My newest poem for The Tale of the Princess Kaguya. This is a form of poem called sestina. I've never written one of these before, so this required a lot of thinking that I had to put my all into it.
The first two lines were floating around in my head, so naturally I wrote them down to start the poem.
Now that I'm finished talking let's get on with the show.
She came from the moon
Whose light gives off a glimmer
A bright pearl so cold
Glittering brighter than snow
In the winter it glows more white
When the dark night gives off fog
Kaguya stands in the fog
Under the light of the moon
Whose skin is so white
It seems to glimmer
Almost as iridescently as snow
Still the night is so cold
Although the palace is cold
It is surrounded by a fog
Yet someday it will begin to snow
Daring to outshine the moon
Though no other can show off a glimmer
Comparing both on its natural white
A noble princess with skin so white
Standing in the frigid cold
Gazing at the moon's bright glimmer
Relishing the comforting embrace of the fog
This is not her moon
For up there there is no snow
Although the earth has snow
It can be more white
Even more so than the moon
And it would be just as cold
With the gloominess of the fog
You can still see a glimmer
Kaguya herself appears to glimmer
She stands alone in the snow
Surrounded by the pale fog
Both are equally white
Paying no mind to the cold
Never wishing to return to the moon
I like to think of this as my best poem. ^_^ I never thought my poems would be this good. I hope to find more inspiration to write these.
