Madison stood close to Dorothy. She does feel scared but continue to glare at the Witch as she was petting Toto. She was worried about Abby, but she was relief that the monkeys didn't took her and also with Tin Man, Lion, and Scarecrow. She can't imagine what the witch will do to her and how she'll escape like Toto did in the scene.
"What a nice little dog." said the Witch as she petted Toto and placed him in the basket. She turned to face Dorothy, who was frighten and crying, and Madison, who was trying to keep a brave face on. "And you, my dears. What an unexpected pleasure. It's so kind of you two to visit me in my loneliness." she said.
"What are you gonna do with my dog? Give him back to me!" said Dorothy as she was in fear. "All in good time, my little pretty. All in good time." "Oh, please give me back my dog." she begged. "Certainly, certainly, when you give me those slippers and the necklace." said the Witch. Madison placed her hand on the necklace and Dorothy answered, "But the Good Witch of the North told us not to."
The Witch frowned. "Very well." she said and turned to the wing monkey as he was near the basket, "Throw that basket in the river and drown him." "No!" Madison cried out. "No, no. Here, you can have your old slippers but give me back Toto!" "And take this necklace too, alright? Just leave Toto alone." said Madison. The witch smiled with please. "Those are good little girls. I knew you two see reason."
She bent down and began to take the slippers, but once she got close enough to reach her fingers were burnt. Then she tried to reach the necklace until she felt her hand burned and screamed in pain. Madison was shocked to see what the necklace did to her. "Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't do it. Can I still have my dog?" Dorothy asked. The Witch yelled, "No! Fool that I am, I should have remembered. Those slippers and that necklace will never come off, as long as you two are alive."
Madison's heart was pounding as she stood close to Dorothy with her arms wrapped around in protection as the two looked at hag witch. "But that's not what's worrying me. It's how to do it. These things must be done delicately, or you'll hurt the spell."
Without the witch notice, Dorothy and Madison notice that Toto poked his head out of the other side of the basket. He jumped out and began to run. "Run, Toto, run!" "Get out of here boy!" the girls shouted. The witch turned and saw the little dog escaping. "Catch him you fool!" she shouted at the monkey.
Toto ran down the staircase and scampers over drawbridge as the Winkie guards throw spears at him. "Run, Toto, run! Run, Toto, run!" Dorothy cried out as she and Madison were at the window to see the little dog escaped. "Atta boy." said Madison. "He got away! He got away!"
The Witch was furious. "Oh! Which is more that you will! Drat, you and your dog! You've been more trouble to me than worth one way or another. But it'll soon be over now!" She marched over to the table and grabbed an hourglass to show the girls. "Do you see that? That's how much longer you two got to be alive." she said. The girls look frighten but Madison kept glaring at her. "It isn't long, my pretties. It isn't long! I can't wait forever to get those shoes and that necklace!"
Just as she was about to leave, she turned to face Madison. "And as for you, a brave face like yours won't stopped the time." she said. "I'm not afraid of you." said Madison. "What did you say?" "I said, I'm NOT afraid of you!" she yelled. The witch quickly stood in front of her. "Do you really think you could not be afraid of me. Just imagine what nightmares I can give you and what terrible things I can do to you." she growled but Madison stood her place. "You may be in my dreams or even taunting me with your tricks, but I'm still won't scream or even be scared." said Madison. "We'll see." said the witch and then she quickly left the room leaving Dorothy and Madison alone.
Madison sighed with relief as she was gone and took a few breaths. She looked at Dorothy as she was crying with fear. "I'm frightened. I'm frightened, Auntie Em! I'm frightened." she cried. Madison quickly sat beside her and hugged her friend with comfort until...
"Dorothy! Dorothy! Where are you?" a voice spoke. The girls turned at the crystal ball and saw an old woman. It was Dorothy's aunt, calling her name. "It's me. it's Auntie Em. We're trying to find you. Where are you?" she called out.
"I'm here in Oz, Auntie Em, with a friend. We're locked up in the Witch's castle and I'm trying to get home to you, Auntie Em!" said Dorothy as she trying to call out to them. She leaned into the crystal ball seeing the image of her aunt fade away. "Oh, Auntie Em, don't go away! I'm frightened! Come back! Come back!" she cried as the crystal ball turn dark until she gasped as the crystal ball show the witch appeared. Dorothy quickly moved back away, and Madison had her arms wrapped around her.
"Auntie Em, Auntie Em! Come back! I'll give you Auntie Em my pretty!" the witch mocked and cackle evilly as the image of the Witch disappears. Dorothy continues to cry as sand in the hourglass comes down while Madison tried to comfort her.
"It's gonna be alright, Dorothy. Don't lose hope. I'm hoping that Toto will find the others and they'll come to save us." said Madison. Dorothy looked at her and nod. "I hope you're right Madison. I hope you're right."
