Prologue
In a room in a hut in a small village, a unicorn mare was seen exhausted in bed where she had just given birth to her own colt.
Her name was River Harmony and beside her was her earth mare mother Ocean Rose where there was her draconic alicorn stallion husband Astral Haze.
River was given her colt by the visiting doctor where she took a good look at him.
River: Astral, come see our son.
Astral walked up to River's side and looked at the newborn. He had a twisted unicorn horn.
Astral: He has your horn.
The newborn then spread out draconic wings.
River: And he has your wings.
The newborn colt opened his eyes to show they were blank.
River: His eyes! He's..
Astral: Blind..
Ocean: Don't you start getting upset because my grandson can't see. The night sky is great.
Ocean Rose walks towards the window and opens it where the stars shone down into the room.
The clouds moved where the northern star shined bright in the sky where the blind colt faced towards it and reached out like he was trying to grab it.
River: What is he…
Astral: North Star.
River: Oh?
Astral: That's his name. North Star. The way he's reaching for the northern star even though he can't see it must be a sign. A sign that our son is destined for greatness.
River smiled where the couple hugged as they brought their son close.
River: I love it. North Star. Our little prodigy.
Ocean: Eh heh heh. About time we have another hero in the family.
Astral: Oh come on. I'm still young. And I'm going to see my son grow up. One way or another.
River: And we'll be proud of him.
River handed Astral his son as he carried him.
Astral: And I'll make sure he's raised in an Equestria that is united.
North Star smiled as he grabbed Astral's snout who smiled as tears of joy flowed from his eyes.
Astral: My son. My little pony.
(24 years later)
North Star is seen all grown up where he preps his satchel as he puts on a black scarf as placed on a special belt.
North Star takes a deep breath as he heads towards the door where he walked across a picture of a pony.
North Star: Wish me luck dad. Just you wait, I'm going to make your dream become a reality. You didn't to die for nothing
North places his hooves together and does a bow towards his father's portrait as he heads out.
North Star is at the village's border where the whole village of many creatures were there to see him off along with his mom, grandma, and younger sister, Obsidia Scream.
River: Your father would be so proud of you.
Ocean: Because we are.
North Star: Thanks every creature.
North sensed the emotions of his sister and used his enhanced senses to face her.
North Star: What's wrong sis?
Obsidia: Why can't I go with you? You need a partner to help you.
North Star: I got that covered.
Out of the crowd, another creature jumped into the air and landed beside North. This was Desna Maverick. Part unicorn, part Kirin. He was also North's best friend. He was like a brother to him.
North Star: Des is coming with me.
Desna: Yes I am.
North Star: Besides, we need someone to watch over the village. It's the last place in all of Equestria that accepts Friendship, magic, and harmony. Without it, we'll be lost.
Obsidia was sad as her ears flipped down.
North Star: Come on sis, don't be sad. Once the magic returns and friendship is restored, I'll come home. I promise.
Obsidia: Pinkie Promise?
North Star: Cross My Heart, Hope To Fly, Stick A Cupcake In My Eye.
Obsidia hugs her older brother who hugs her back.
The two separated as North and Desna left the village who was cheering for them as both sides waved goodbye.
Desna: Well North, what first?
North Star: From what my dad told me before he passed, he said to meet a stallion named Argyle. He lives in Maretime Bay, home to the Earth Ponies.
Desna: Anything else?
North Star: He said he lived in the Lighthouse. He even has a daughter who is around our age.
North brought out one of his journals and gave it to Desna who opened it where a folded map was unfolded as Desna looked at it.
On the map, Desna saw three separate locations which were home to all three breeds of ponies.
Maretime Bay, home to the Earth Ponies. Bridlewood, home to the Unicorns. And Zephyr Heights, home to the Pegasi.
Desna: Well, let's get going.
North Star: It's time. Time to reunite pony kind and restore friendship, and magic.
