"Ooh, I wanna a cookie, I wanna a cookie. Pleease?" The little girl jumped up and down, using the counter to help her peek over it. Douxie stifled a laugh, smiling at the little girl.

"Oh, sorry, honey. I don't have enough money with me, and mommy needs her coffee today." The girl's mother looked down at her daughter apologetically before turning to Douxie. "I'll just have that cappuccino please, thanks."

"Awww, no cookie?" Her daughter whined beside her. The lady didn't seem mean, but she did seem genuinely sorry. "No cookie today sweetheart."

"I'll get you that cappuccino right away, ma'am." Douxie said, and turned around to pass on the order to Aaron.

The lady payed for her coffee while she waited, and Douxie turned around once again to get it. The little girl was silent, pouting but well behaved enough that she didn't throw a tantrum. Douxie quickly grabbed something, then passed the coffee to the lady.

"Here you are. One cappuccino. And…" he turned to the little girl and passed her the small package he'd gotten. "One cookie for the little lady, on the house." He winked playfully at the girl, who took the cookie and grinned happily.

Her mother looked at Douxie. "You really didn't have to. I'll pay you back sometime…"

The wizard interrupted her. "Don't worry about it, love. Really. I'm just happy making the little one happy." He smiled at the little girl again, who had already started eating the cookie. The lady seemed to notice that as well, and smiled too, then she turned to Douxie once more, a grateful expression on her face this time.

"Thank you." She said. "There are too few truly kind people in this world. It's nice to see that they still do exist though."

"Yeah, thank you blue-hair guy!" Her daughter said, crumbs falling from her full mouth.

"Lily, what have I told you about talking with your mouth full?" The lady scoffed, but she still smiled.

"Sorry." More crumbs dropped.

Douxie laughed. "You're welcome, love. And listen to your mum, alright? She tries her best, always remember that. And slow down there a bit with that cookie, too."

"But it's yummy." As soon as she realised that she had talked with her mouth full again, her eyes widened and she slapped a hand over her mouth. "Sorry." She mumbled.

"My goodness, Lily. Alright, come on, let's go. We have somewhere to be, remember? Say goodbye to the kind young man."

"Bye, nice blue-hair guy!" She gave him a cheerful wave then ran out the door, waiting as her mum also said goodbye to Douxie, thanking him once again before catching up to her energetic daughter.

Douxie laughed as he watched them leave, seeing how happy Lily looked with such a simple thing, a cookie. As he took the other customer's orders, he thought about how he didn't remember much from his own childhood with his real family. Sure, he remembered how he met Archie, and some of what happened before Camelot, but he had only vague memories of his parents, blurry faces and faint voices.

Perhaps one of his earliest memories that he could remember, still vaguely, but at least it was something, was one of his birthdays with his family.

Pre-Camelot, sometime in his early life:

He didn't remember a specific birthday or anything, but he did remember little things that used to happen. Though his family themselves were vague and blurry, he remembered who was who.

Little flashes of specific things or a specific person went through Douxie's mind.

How his family couldn't afford to do anything big, but his mother would make delicious treats and his father would take time off from work to be there. His cousins, two boys - one a year and a half younger than him, the other a year older - would come over, just as he'd go to theirs if it was their birthday.

They'd spend the day making trouble, his uncle encouraging them, being a con man himself. Though his practice was frowned upon by his family, they had to admit that he did get money. Occasionally, he would teach Douxie and his cousins some tricks, making it look like magic, but that was before Douxie found out he had true magic of his own, of course. He still kept the tricks with him though, practicing them when his parents had fallen asleep.

He had loved his little family, not caring that they had little money to support it. He'd been so happy with just his mother's home-made cream tarts, even if she made them just because they couldn't afford anything better.

He loved it when his older cousin would play the fiddle and all of them would dance outside under the stars, only a few candles and the moon to give them any light. Some of the neighbours might join in, one of them bringing a drum and his wife bringing a flute, making their small dance instantly bigger. They'd stay up until the sun would peek out from the horizon, then his cousins would end up staying the night because it was so late, none of them getting any sleep though.

Oh, how life was different then, Douxie mused. Even the littlest things made all the difference, the littlest things making him so happy. Over the years, that hadn't changed though, since he'd always been on the run, scrounging for whatever he could get. But it kept him humble, and appreciative of everything. Especially the family and friends surrounding him.

His real family was gone long ago, but Archie, and later, Zoe, had been there for him throughout and always would be. Just like he knew the Trollhunters would be there for him, at least for now. Lots of people came and went in his life, especially since his life is significantly longer than mortals', but he still remembered most of them, the ones who were kind to him, and the ones that weren't but made him appreciate those who were even more.

A/N: Shorter chapter, but that's because unlike the others, this doesn't outline a specific event that happens, more him just reflecting and remembering vague things. I honestly don't know where I was going with the ending, I kind of just wrote it because I needed to write more for it, so sorry it's not the best.

Anyway, one more chapter to go. Still have no idea exactly what I'm gonna write for that, but a lot more characters you know and love are going to be there… so stay safe and see ya soon.
