Adelaide
"Racing Royalty, our racing future, Angel, Princess, and everything else." The cheers call for me every season, and I'm used to it. The crowd of cameras flash on the Wonderful Cruz Ramirez, and I just park without saying anything. No one disrespects the norm out here.
My father, the Great Lightning McQueen, coaches Cruz Ramirez, but he condemns my behavior. Someday, I, the Lovely Adelaide McQueen will succeed along with the Fabulous Hudson Hornet, the Great Lightning McQueen, and the Wonderful Cruz Ramirez. "Doc Hudson, or the Fabulous Hudson Hornet, quit in 1954 and somehow came to Radiator Springs and met me. It's been forever until…." My father said.
Does it ever change my mind? No! Like father, like daughter. This family is the greatest family. My father is a great racer! My mother is the most glorious consort! Caleb and Zachary shine so bright with me.
I glance at Caleb as his young, innocent, and childish looking face glances at me. He leans his side on my fender, shaking. However, the shaking subsides around me. My mother looks at both of us and smiles. Caleb and Mom's turquoise eyes calm me down and send me home. We three look alike with our Porsche faces.
Zachary and Dad have something up their hoods, but I turn my back on them. Zachary gets it most of the time. Dad's greatness holds it back. We three look alike in build and eyes. However, Zachary's eyes are a little darker tone of blue compared to me and Dad's. Zachary narrows his eyes at me, and I pant and run away from him.
All of us attend far from home in Florida during a sunny afternoon. Cruz passes the competitors halfway through. Will Cruz land in first place or not? Good thing she's beating the competitors. Caleb, Zachary, and I drive around the pits until something calls for me.
"Caleb, can you please tell Mom or Mater?" I ask.
"About what?" Caleb says.
"I'm gonna check the pits."
"For what?"
"The tires are running out! I have to do it. Besides, I need to prepare myself for racing."
"Oh, alright."
The racing world will only allow me in. Caleb and Zachary are forbidden to partake in this sport. Caleb stares at me with those innocent eyes, and Zachary glares at me. Caleb and I fiddle with things at the pit stop, and Caleb and I fiddle like kids. Zachary's just…He's just there. What a party pooper.
Caleb talks about the idea of us racing side by side. It's such a fun and amazing story. Will that dream come true? Maybe. The world might not accept us, Caleb. You'll see. After your crash, they might turn their backs on us for life. Mom and Dad might not love us. They'll disown us, and we're done for.
"You can't race. It's dangerous. You might…crash. Maybe, you should work at the pits or be a racing expert," I say.
"Are you sure about that?" Caleb says.
"About what?"
"Not setting my tire on the track?"
"Yeah, I gotta get going. We can talk later."
"Alright, see ya."
I was helping Luigi, Guido, Cruz, and Dad. I push a tire rack, but the rack topples down like a toppling tower, and the tires scatter. This'll be a crappy day, and they won't get spares. Too bad the tire rack broke into pieces. How would they give Cruz tires now? They can't. I roar with laughter, and people can hear. However, everyone at the pits glares at me. I apologize to them.
What will they do? I'm just trying to help! This is my business, and it's my business when it's about racing! It's my business when it involves the Fabulous Fabulous Hudson Hornet's Legacy.
"Luigi, Guido, I got more spare tires ready!" I say.
"We already got a new rack," Luigi says.
"That's absurd! You should thank me for doing this!"
"Didn't we say 'we already got a new rack?'!"
"At least I got you prepared, and that's what matters!"
Dad glares at Luigi and I from his pit platform. His eyes narrow at us. Cruz passes three turns in first place and in the final lap. Go Cruz! You can win the race! I believe in you! We all believe in you!
Dad approaches me, and we stay silent. It's so weird like this. What do you want, Dad?! The bickering does enough damage, and everything might blow. I'll always be a burden. When will I be enough? When will I ever be enough for them?
Luigi and Guido might get away with it. Who knows? I don't care. I don't care whether they suffer or not. They'll just get what they deserve. They're such party poopers. They should be doing their jobs like real pit crew members.
"Luigi, Adelaide, what is this about?" Dad sighs.
"Adelaide was trying to help us, but we already got everything covered, and this happened," Luigi says.
"Addy, can we discuss after the race?"
"Sure!" I say.
As the race ends, Cruz crosses the finish line, and everyone screams her name. I sigh and mutter under my breath. It's time to get in trouble. I don't utter a word. Here it goes again. It's time for me to suffer from misery.
"Addy, what was this about?" Dad says.
"I just wanted to help them. Is there something wrong with that?" I say.
"No, there's nothing wrong with that. However, you should help when they need it. Do you get it?"
"I think so, thanks."
Dad thinks he's so special. He's the greatest racer ever! He won seven Piston Cups! I'll be just like him. I'll be just like them, the three greats! He drives a few miles away from me, but Zachary approaches me with a smirk. I wish Zachary could get his lavender face smacked. He won't get the hit. He's better off without one anyways.
"Ooh, Addy's in trouble," Zachary says.
"Zachary, can you please stop?" I say, "It wasn't so bad!"
"Well, Daddy hates you, and he likes me and Caleb! Do you wanna ruin the fun?"
"No."
Zachary sticks his tongue out, making a fake silly face at me. The lineage faces me. The saddened feeling becomes sickening. It's been like this for six years, but it could've been longer. He's such a jerk. I'll show him how he feels! I'll show him.
"Good, then listen to me, Mommy, and Daddy!" Zachary says.
"Zachary, that's enough." Dad says to him.
"She needs to know! She's a witch!"
"I already dealt with her."
Caleb and Mom drove a few feet away. They stop and stare at us until the chaos dims. Why are you looking at us like this? Hey, they can't blame me for anything. Mom gives me everything, but I have to give my all back to her. I can't hate her, but I can't love her.
It's complicated between me and Mom, and it's hard for us to get along well. We can tolerate each other's company, but I can't exactly…She's my mother and the wife of a great racing superstar, and I'm their daughter. Well, I should be their daughter, but I'm not.
"I'm so sorry about that, Sal and Caleb," Dad says.
"It's fine, Stickers," Mom says, "Also, I'm gonna stay at the pit stop. You all can see Cruz if you would like."
"I'll go, Mom," Caleb says.
"Alright, Kiddos, don't give your dad a hard time here. Got it?"
"Don't worry, I won't. Besides, he was a great racer!" I say, "Also, goodbye. I love you."
"I love you too."
We go to the interview in victory lane. Dad's probably going to be waiting for Cruz at the time, and he doesn't mind it. He talks to the press anyways. Racers are high status. Be formal and poise. They are the greatest racers under the Fabulous Hudson Hornet legacy after all. Show Cruz respect too!
"Hi, Ms. Ramirez!" I say.
"Hi, Kiddos!" Cruz says.
"Can we come over there?!"
"Yes, you three are allowed if you want!"
We drive up the ramp to victory lane and meet with Cruz, and the boys and I tell the security guards ``we're reserved." The security guard allows us in. Good thing yhe security guard can accept our dumb excuses. It's best to detail everything before looking at everything.
I try to park beside Cruz. Zachary stays away from me, but Caleb doesn't mind. He has middle ground. Caleb trusts our family, the Radiator Springs family and our family only. Everyone outside of our home…stays back from him.
"Congratulations, Cruz!" I say.
"Aww, thank you," Cruz says.
"That was amazing, Cruz!" Caleb says to Cruz.
"Thanks!"
"How did practice go?"
"Practice was going great. Also, I need to talk to Lightning. I'll be back."
We all take the ramp down the ground, and Cruz fakes a smile as her eyes dart to my father's side, stiff. Cruz also apologizes to the press and finishes her interview. Cruz talks to Dad. You better talk about the race!
"Hey, Lightning, how were the kids doing?" Cruz says to Dad.
"Adelaide wanted to help the pit crew, but they already have it covered. As for the boys, they're alright," Dad says to Cruz.
"Did you really want to help Luigi and Guido?"
"Yeah, but they could've thanked me!" I say.
"Don't worry about it, Addy."
