Prologue
The lands of Yonder are a name given by the 5 great clans that live in this vast landscape. The history of their beginnings has been mostly forgotten but some parts have been recorded through the songs and tales of the elders. All they remember is the sky erupting into fire and the twolegs disappearing off the face of the land. With the twolegs gone, the world was theirs to conquer. Over time, cats made their way into this fertile land, far from the chaos of ash and fire and smoke.
The first civilizations to settle around the lands were known as the Northling Cats. Their real name has been lost to the annals of history. They were different from the southron cats. A brutal and savage race, the Northling cats had several different Kingdoms scattered across Yonder and for a time, they were the undisputed rulers of their domain. For countless generations, the Kingdoms fought against each other, spilling blood with tooth and claw until one day, a new enemy emerged.
The Southron cats who had been driven from their ancient home had arrived at the land of Yonder. These were the original clan cats. It was said that they followed the star of a dying warrior which would lead them to the promised land.
At first, the many different northern kingdoms welcomed these newcomers with open paws, offering them moors, rivers and forests to hunt on in exchange for their support in their petty squabbles. They taught the clans the ways of using the teeth of other beasts to stud their claws, and how to use the skulls of larger animals as armour and protection. The clans taught the Kingdoms about the warrior code and of the power of Starclan.
The clans cats wanted more though and a war between the two civilizations began. This was known as the War of the False Star. As both forces fought for dominance over the land, heroes and villains from both sides emerged. The battles that followed were so bloody and grave that even the warrior ancestors of the clan cats took part in a battle in the heavens, fighting the pantheon of the Northling Cats.
The clans won however, driving their defeated foes into the mountains. Then they spread out, claiming these new lands as their own. Hundreds of Mountain cats had died in the wars but their ways were not extinct. Some of their cultures were absorbed by the clan cats. Their Leaders took on the title of Kings and adopted the practice of gifting territories to loyal warriors. The Northern cats that survived took on the clan cat's naming culture and learnt how to fight like proper warriors.
Generations later, 5 powerful clans now rule Yonder. They live, fight and die under the open sky.
This is their story.
