Chapter 1: Lost
A woman (Elesis - 21 - Blazing Heart) with red crimson hair tied in ponytail standing on the deck of the ship, waiting for her little brother (Elsword - 18 - Lord Knight) who was her slave- Ahem, her 'helper'. He carried a load of packages containing their clothes and things they bought during their trip to Hamel. He boarded the ship and put them down with a sigh.
"At least you could help me a bit in carrying your pack."
"Come on, they are not that heavy. It's not gallant to make a lady carry a pack."
"Ha… I just don't understand why you chose to combine your swordsmanship with magic?"
"It's my path I have chosen thanks to the magic of flame I have within me, kid. You got a problem? Or do you want to taste my flame again?"
"I will skip. You forgot you almost burned the house?"
"Haha~"
She hugged his neck and pulled him closer. That made the boy feel uneasy because of her carefreeness.
A while later, the ship departed for Velder. She sailed on the sea along with her sailors and travelers. Two siblings watched the sea, feeling the breeze. It's rare for them to have a vacation in Hamel in order to strengthen their sibling bone, but the time was too short and they had to return.
Elesis sighed because it's not enough to be closer to her brother. She looked at him, who looked to the left and right as a knight in duty. The boy had become a true Velder Knight. He's serious, unlike her, who was carefree and more open to her feelings.
She wished Elsword should relax and enjoy the vacation.
The ship had been sailing for half an hour until Elsword noticed the mist became thicker for unknown reasons.
"Strange. I don't remember the mist should be here at this hour."
Elesis, however, noticed the faint trace of magic among the mist. She didn't know what it was because it's completely strange.
"Elsword, I don't think this is normal mist."
"How do you know?"
"Just feeling."
The ship continued its path until they heard the faint sound of flapping. It became louder and louder as they heard it gliding above the ship. Terror filled the ship. Some urged the captain to sail faster. However, the compass's needle was spinning wildly, making the old man unable to determine the direction.
Once again, the swifting sound came back along with flapping sounds. Elsword looked up and found the shadow that was horrifying the ship. Even just a glance, he recognized that it's a dragon.
"Something's up there!"
"Everyone! Get inside now!"
All sailors guided travelers inside the hull except Elsword and Elesis. They stayed with their swords summoned, ready to engage.
A terrifying roar echoed in the sky. The beast struck and broke the mast that wobbled the ship. Those on the deck lost their balance while the hull was filled with horrified screams.
"Damn it, we can't see anything."
Elesis wanted to use her flame to clear the mist, but the ship was made of wood. She couldn't get the ship caught in fire. She felt the surge of power was approaching and saw a giant fireball passed by above the ship.
"What the hell was that?!"
"We're gonna die!"
"Shut up, fools. I ain't gonna let this ship sink, no way!"
Captain set the ship to full course and sailed away from this damn place. Elsword and Elesis heard the wings flapping from the stern. The man ran and called out Armageddon Blade, extending his blade further and swung the sword. While he couldn't land a solid hit, the beast felt the danger and changed its course upward.
Elesis saw it and began throwing multiple blazing orbs at it. They homed the target and landed explosions. The damage was not much but it did enrage the dragon. The mist was cleared a bit, revealing the full view of the red dragon.
"Cannons are ready!"
One of the sailors said after all cannons were loaded. The dragon's shadow moved near the surface of the sea and was heading from the starboard.
"Fire!"
A barrage of cannonballs struck at the shadow. It successfully forced the shadow to glide up once again, avoiding the death caused by it. The mist became clearer a bit to reveal the red dragon that Elsword and Elesis found bigger, bigger than one in Berthma. The presence itself caused those on the deck trembling.
"What is that…"
The dragon stared at the ship and gathered the power to his mouth, forming a large fireball. Elesis sensed the danger.
"It's about to fire!"
The dragon showed ruthless and launched the destructive fireball at the ship. Elsword, by his instinct, ran and hugged Elesis while pushing her off the deck, protecting her from explosion.
"... Kugh!"
Elsword woke up, choked with sea water. He coughed it out and breathed for air. He looked around and found himself on the shore of an unknown island along with pieces of woods and cargoes shattered. From afar, he found the ship was shattered and burning while she was slowly sunk.
"Sis… Sis!"
Elsword got up, searching for his sister. He found the sight of red hair being drifted to the shore before he rushed to get her. He pulled her to the shore and checked for her breath, nothing. He tried to press her chest a few times to help her breath, and he succeeded. Elesis jolted up and coughed.
"You woke up, sis!"
"Elsword…?"
She found Elsword kneeling beside her and looked around in confusion.
"Are you alright?"
"I'm… good. Where are we?"
"We drift to the island we don't know. The ship got destroyed by that dragon."
"What?! That damn lizard! It came from nowhere and ruined my day!"
Elesis groaned and fell back on the shore. She's right on one thing. The dragon suddenly appeared and destroyed the trip back to Velder.
"What now?" Elesis asked.
"First thing, we need to find a place to shelter. We don't know what this island has and it's dangerous to explore without preparation." Elsword said as he stood up.
"So… Stuck on the island, with just two of us?"
Elesis got up. Elsword then found a good view from above while standing and saw her cleavage, making Elsword blush and look away. She didn't pay attention to her clothes every time she's near Elsword, which made the man unable to understand her. On the other hand, Elesis found his embarrassment and giggled.
"I'm just kidding. I will check those scraps and see if I can find anything."
"Alright."
Elesis got up and walked along the shore while Elsword headed to find a suitable place nearby. She found scraps of woods burnt and damp that couldn't be used. A few crates that were broken, with some still intact.
Grabbing one crate, she searched inside and found some useful things including dried foods, fresh water contained in bottles, and an axe that looked pretty new. This should be good to cut down trees without using their swords. The right tool for the right job. She took a cloth and wrapped those she found inside before she continued searching.
She was thinking about the adventure she went on with Elsword. The little brother now became more mature than the time she had left him at Ruben to stop the evil. He's higher than her that she had to tiptoe in order to reach his height and he's more handsome, no longer the cute face she found. His swordsmanship improved significantly to Sieghart style, her family. To be honest, Elsword could overcome any challenge without her aid.
But that's not what she wanted.
Because of that, Elsword couldn't see her true feelings, a wild flame burning without being restrained by rules, by her own strength. The flame had helped her open up her emotions freely she wanted.
A step closer to Elsword.
His head, however, was dense as a rock. No, rock wouldn't have a chance. She had made a few hints that were obvious, though some were a bit off. It seemed he didn't understand woman clearly.
she sighed and continued searching.
"... A lock? Why is this thing here? And this pattern… seems familiar."
She picked a strange lock and stared at it for a while out of curiosity, something she couldn't figure out why and she took it with her.
"Sis!"
The male call attracted Elesis' attention. She found Elsword waving his hand in front of the forest glade. She approached with the package and saw the armor plates on his clothes gone.
"Have you found a good place?"
"Yes, it is. A small cave not far from here. I inspected it. Now we need something to cut the tree for the campfire."
"Then, use this."
Elesis handed him the axe that she found.
"You found it? Great! This won't take long."
Elsword happily took it.
"This way, sis. I will guide you."
He led her to the small cave he found. In there, she saw his Dimension Sword which was placed on the ground along with his armor plates. She went inside and summoned her sword, placed it along with his sword to reserve her energy which was used to hide her weapon from plain view.
"I will get the woods. You need to rest."
"Very well."
She sat on the ground while watching Elsword heading for one of the trees. He swung his axe like how he swung his sword, chopped the tree before it slowly fell on one side. Elsword chopped it into pieces of wood and brought them in.
"I got them."
"Good work, Elsword. Let me."
Elesis set the woods and made a campfire by using her flame to set it on fire. The fire warmed both of them from the cold.
"Hah… Finally…"
Elesis giggled.
"I scavenged a few crates and found enough food and fresh water for a week. So now we need to find more, and we can get water from those coconut trees nearby."
"I go it. Man, I never expected we would end up like this."
"Come on. You're not little anymore. You can handle this by yourself. Besides, don't you think It's a good blessing that you're getting stuck with a woman? I don't mind if you want to fulfill your 'desire'."
Elesis teased with a smirk, lifting her chest a bit. That got the man blushing slightly and looked away.
"D-Don't joke like that, sis."
Elesis giggled at his embarrassment.
"Anyway, we need to rest a bit."
Elsword got over with his embarrassment and nodded. He leaned his back on the wall while Elesis used the coconut leaves to form a temporary bed and laid down before she closed her eyes to take a nap. Elsword hoped he could escape the island with his sister. Unknown to them, the lock Elesis picked up shattered into glitters and touched the Dimension Sword.
After a week of living, they both adapted the condition they were in now. Elsword had gathered necessary things to build and fortify the place they were living while Elesis gathered food. However they believed it's time to leave this place. By making a raft, they should be able to leave the island.
However, there was a strange problem.
The mist suddenly appeared. They couldn't see the horizon. They found it abnormal that the mist surrounded the island, but not onto the island. They had to make a choice between sailing or not.
And so they sailed.
As they went into the mist. They were hoping nothing would happen to them while passing. To their surprise, they found another island.
"What the hell?"
Elsword spoke in confusion. They sailed and boarded the island to check the surroundings, only to find out.
"It's the same island."
Elesis said. Indeed, they both found the cave they were living in with the campfire that was still sparking. They suspected the mist and tried to sail again, only to yield the same result.
"Ah great, we're stuck in a damn place with no chance to escape."
In the end, they set the raft near the cave and rested. They wouldn't be able to escape without finding out the truth about the strange mist.
Until..
"Wait, the cave."
Elesis noticed the path hidden in the cave that Elsword didn't find before.
"What?"
"Have you checked the cave carefully?"
"I did."
"Then how did you miss this?"
"I don't know. Last time I checked, I didn't find it here before."
"Should we?"
They both looked at each other and nodded. It seemed they had a clue on whatever was happening on the island. They picked up their swords and headed inside the cave deeper. Elsword held the torch to light the path as it got darker and darker. They both felt like they were going inside the mountain of a volcano.
"It's deep. How can I miss this?"
"Probably. Something must have hidden it until now. Be on your guard, Elesis."
The path became wider as they walked. They noticed a few ocean-colored crystals on the wall that lighted up as they approached.
"Interesting. They seem to have light magic." Elesis touched one of the crystals and inspected it.
They both kept walking until they arrived at a wider space. However, they saw the path was above the deep hole that they couldn't see the depth. Ahead of them was something shining on the altar.
"Something's there."
"Elsword, are you sure we have to get it?"
"It's the only way if we want to know."
Elesis nodded. Elsword headed first. He slowly walked on the rock bridge after putting his sword on his back. He inspected the bridge and seemed to be fine.
"It's ok, Elesis. Let's go."
The woman nodded and followed Elsword. However, they didn't detect the seal below the bridge glowed and then.
Crack!*
"?!"
The bridge was destroyed by unknown force. Elsword and Elesis fell into the hole.
"Aaaah!"
"Elesis!"
Elsword tried to reach Elesis. He grabbed her hand and pulled her closer as he hugged her, using his own body to protect Elesis as instinct. The wall became sloped and had both of them sliding on the unknown path until they exited and fell on the water, once again. A loud splash echoed as they both landed in the water.
"*coughs* Damn it…"
Elsword and Elesis got themselves wet again. The water was not shallow so they didn't get injured from falling. They swam and got off the water, breathing to calm themselves from the 'great sliding'.
"You alright, Sis?"
"Still good, Elsword. This won't kill me enough."
Elsword sighed in relief. He looked around and found the path with light crystals showing the way. They saw how many crystals showed up, meaning that they're almost there.
Not sure what awaited them ahead, they proceeded slowly until they found something that left them speechless.
A ruined castle.
