The sound of someone knocking on the door startled Buck awake. Apparently he had fallen asleep after Bobby, Athena and Chimney left. The sound also woke Jee and she began to cry. Scooping her up, he headed for the door, opening it quickly.
"Hi, Buck! Jee!" Chris cried as he started to hurry into the apartment. Reaching out he juggled his crutches while giving Buck a hug. Looking up he frowned. "What happened to your face?" he asked staring at the bruise.
"What do you mean…?" Eddie asked as he came up behind his son carrying the take out he promised. He broke off when he saw Buck's face.
"Can we come inside then I'll explain? Please?" Buck requested.
"Of course, come on, Chris," Eddie said ushering him into Buck's apartment.
"Hey Chris, can you play with Jee for a little bit?" Buck asked as he sat Jee-Yun on a blanket with some of her toys.
"You just want to talk to Dad without me," Chris grumbled.
"I promise we'll tell you what's going on. I just want to talk to your dad first. Okay Superman?" Buck questioned. Chris nodded reluctantly and settled on the floor next to the baby grabbing a toy waving it in front of her making her laugh. Buck motioned Eddie into the kitchen.

"What the hell happened? Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere else? Do I need to call Bobby or Athena?" Eddie began spitting out questions rapid fire.
"Eddie, if you give me a chance I'll answer all your questions."
"Sorry," Eddie replied sheepishly.
"I need you to promise not to get mad," Buck pleaded.
"Buck, you know I can't do that," the other man argued. Buck sighed he knew that would be Eddie's answer but it was worth a shot.
"Does what happened have anything to do with why Jee is here tonight? I don't think I remember you planning to have her tonight?" Eddie checked. Buck shook his head.
"No, I wasn't supposed to have her. Chimney came over this afternoon and told me about a letter he got from his insurance regarding an ER visit for Jee. She's fine, but apparently during the blackout Maddie was exhausted and accidentally fell asleep for a moment or two while she was bathing Jee. She slipped under the water for a moment and Maddie panicked. She took her to get checked out and thankfully the doctor told her she was fine. That was the last straw, though, and she called me to tell me that she had to leave because Jee's not safe with her. Chim realized I knew about the ER trip and that just added fuel to the fire. He's still pissed at me for keeping that I knew she was leaving from him, so he punched me," Buck concluded. Eddie saw red he wanted to leave and find Chimney and repay the favor.
"So you're telling me he punched you? Did he have Jee with him?" Eddie asked still confused why the baby was in Buck's care.
"Yes, but he couldn't take her with him when he left."
"Why not?" Eddie wanted to know.
"Because Athena arrested him." Eddie gasped in surprise. "She and Bobby were stopping by, for some reason. I never figured that out and when they got here, Chim was about to leave but they saw my face and after a bit I confessed who hit me and she arrested him. She was going to charge him with assault and possible child endangerment since Jee could have gotten hurt if I retaliated. I begged her not to press charges, but she said Bobby could do it on my behalf if I didn't. She cuffed him and sent him to the station with another officer. Once we all came back inside, I begged Bobby not to press charges." Eddie frowned he didn't understand Buck's reasoning.
"Why wouldn't you press charges? He assaulted you," Eddie stated.
"True, but if charges were brought it would end his career. I don't want that. I'm not saying I forgive him yet, but I don't want to ruin his life. Bobby said he's going to require he attend therapy and several other things and if he decides to look for Maddie we're going to all take turns keeping Jee-Yun. I don't think he will like that very much but hopefully if Bobby or Athena explain that it's better for Jee not to have to be drug across the country and kept in her car seat for hours on end and living out of a suitcase at hotels. Athena was heading to the station to release him from holding and apparently leaving him in Bobby's capable hands."

"Shit! That's crazy. I can't believe he hit you. I want to go hit him back," Eddie declared.
"Hitting him isn't anymore right than him hitting me, you know that," Buck reminded him. Eddie sighed he didn't like it, but he knew Buck was right.
"I know," Eddie huffed. "But I don't have to like it. I am still going to give him a piece of my mind, just not with my fists. If you insist, that is." Eddie explained.
"I do insist," Buck answered smiling softly at Eddie as he pulled him in for a hug. "Now what do you say we join the kids and fil Chris in then eat the takeout you brought," Buck suggested. Nodding in agreement the two of them headed back into the living room determined to enjoy their night.

Chimney followed Bobby into the kitchen at his and Athena's house. Athena had stayed at the station when another officer had requested she look over a case. Chim figured that if she wasn't at the station she would have gone somewhere else so he and Bobby could have their talk.
"Do you want something to drink?" Bobby offered.
"Water, please, and maybe an ice pack for my hand?" Chimney requested. Nodding Bobby filled a glass and placed it on the table before grabbing an ice pack out of the freezer and after wrapping it in a towel handing it to the injured paramedic. After grabbing his soda, he settled across from the other man.
"I don't have to tell you how much you messed up, do I?" Bobby asked. Chim shook his head.
"No, definitely not. Athena said you had some requirements I had to complete but she wouldn't tell me what they were." Taking a sip of his soda Bobby cleared his throat so he could explain what was going to happen.
"First of all you will attend at least five sessions of therapy. I can provide some suggestions of therapist or you can find them on your own. However, you will be expected to show me and Buck a signed note from the therapist indicating you've attended each session. If you don't go to therapy on your own, I will find a judge and make it court-mandated."
"Okay, I understand showing you proof, but why Buck? I'm not arguing, I'm genuinely curious," Chimney was quick to say.
"Because I told him that was one of the conditions and I think it will be good for him to see that you're actually making an effort to work through your issues."
"I'll go, it's clear I need the help. I've probably needed it for a long time. I've not really gone since the rebar incident. I don't have a specific one in mind, so would like some suggestions.
"Okay, I'll get you that list."
"Thanks, Bobby." Bobby nodded.
"You're welcome. The second thing is that you will be required to attend anger management classes before you can come back to work. The incident with Buck isn't the first time you've had an anger issue. The accident with the rebar happened because of you leaving the station angry."
"Yeah it did," Chim admitted.
"I thought about suspending you, but I don't want to cause you not to get paid. Especially since you're a one-income household right now." Chim gave a small grateful smile.
"I would deserve the suspension, but thanks for not doing it."
"You do deserve it, but I know that Buck would be upset if you were suspended since it would be without pay. Finally if you decide to go looking for Maddie, Jee-Yun will be staying here. Before you protest would it really be good for her to be ran all over the country and living out of a hotel?" Bobby questioned.
"No, it wouldn't be, Athena said the same thing. I'm not sure yet if I will go looking for her or if I will try searching for her by contacting facilities first. Probably the second one," he admitted.
"If it was me, that's the option I would choose," Bobby told him. "There's one more thing, and it's not a requirement, but a suggestion."
"What is it?"
"Tell Maddie, I know you want to put it behind you, but she needs to know what happened. I'd also suggest that you also clear the air with Buck at some point, but you should probably wait until he comes to you. That's all I've got," Bobby concluded.
"All of those things seem reasonable. Did Athena tell you what happened before the punch?"
"No she didn't. You can if you want." Nodding Chimney relayed the story.
"It wasn't the right thing to do and I know that besides Buck I'm going to have to grovel to Eddie and hope he won't punch me in retaliation.
"If I know Buck he probably told him he could talk to you only," Bobby commented with a smile. Chim laughed in agreement. Standing up he placed his glass in the sink and replaced the ice pack in the freezer.
"I think I'll go to Hen's. I guess the rest of the team should hear about this from me. I'm sure they'll have something to say."
"They probably will, but the important thing is that you're working through it and going to come out of this mess as a better person," Bobby stated.
"That's the plan, thanks, Bobby. If you can text me that list of therapist, I'll call them tomorrow after I pick up Jee.
"Okay, good night, Chim," Bobby said as Chimney opened the door and headed towards his car that Athena had brought to their house before heading to the station to talk to him earlier that day. Climbing into the car he let out a breath before turning the car on and heading for Hen's knowing that he wasn't done facing the music, not by a long shot.
