It was a nice day in Domino City, a tall young man with spiky brown hair and blue eyes passed through a crowd of people standing in the street on his way to the Kaiba Dome. Strapped to his back was a bag containing a collapsible silver metal staff.
He had prepared himself to register for the Duel Academy entrance exams being held there this afternoon.
'Well, let's hope I successfully pass my entrance exam today.' He thought to himself. On his brown belt were six deck boxes that contained decks he constructed himself.
A few minutes later, he spots someone with multi-colored hair further up the street.
'Hey, who is that.' The teen thought out loud as he didn't recognize the figure.
"Excuse me!" He called out to the stranger who turned in his direction.
"Who are you?" The teen asked.
The stranger said nothing back to him. Instead he opened a deck box on his belt and threw a card in the teen's direction.
The teen looked at the card that he had received from the stranger. It was a monster card.
'Winged Kuriboh, huh? Nice to meet you.' He thought, staring at the card in his hand.
"Well, anyway. There's somewhere I need to be right now." The teen continued walking to the Kaiba Dome.
Eventually he arrived at his destination and quickly scaled the side of the building, then jumped over the railing.
"Excuse me." He called out to some people that were working at a desk. "Would I be too late to register for the exams."
"No actually." A older-looking man replied. "Sign your name on this sheet."
After completing registration for the Duel Academy entrance exams, the teen entered the Kaiba Dome and saw several duels in progress.
'Looks like there's some worthwhile competition.' He thought to himself.
He went to the other side of the Kaiba Dome and stood next to a blue-haired boy who was wearing glasses.
"Hey, how's it going?" He asked the blue-haired boy.
"I'm Syrus." The boy introduced himself.
"Ryan Walker." Ryan greeted Syrus back.
"I have something called test anxiety, I have no idea who I managed to win my duel." Syrus muttered out loud, looking down.
"I was expecting you to have more confidence, but whatever." Ryan shrugged his shoulders.
A blonde haired man with a long blue coat got wind of this late arrival and wasn't pleased with this news.
"Where is the person that dared to show up late?!" He angrily demanded.
"He's on the other side of the arena." A teacher gestured across the Kaiba Dome.
"Ryan Walker, report to exam field 1." The PA system announced his name.
"Well, guess I'm dueling." He made his way down the stairs and to the arena.
The blonde haired man, who turned out to be Dr. Crowler stood in front of him.
"Ryan Walker, I'm dueling you personally. Get your deck ready." Crowler instructed.
"Aren't you a instructor? Kind of a unfair advantage if you ask me." Ryan questioned him.
"You can leave right now if you want to."
"You wish pal, let's duel." Ryan said as their duel started. He drew his first card, Breaker the Magical Warrior.
"I'll summon Breaker the Magical Warrior in attack mode." He added.
Breaker the Magical Warrior ATK 1600 DEF 1000 LV4 DARK Spellcaster.
"Breaker gains a spell counter and 300 attack points. Then I set one card face down and end my turn."
"How pathetic. I summon Ancient Gear Soldier in attack mode." Crowler said.
Ancient Gear Soldier ATK 1300 DEF 1300 LV4 EARTH Machine.
"Next I activate the equip spell 7 Completed. This increases my Soldier's attack by 700 points."
Ancient Gear Soldier 1300 + 700 = 2000
"And now Ancient Gear Soldier, attack his Breaker." Crowler ordered.
Ryan LP 4000 - 100 = 3900
"Prepare to say goodbye to ever heading to Duel Academy." Crowler said with a grin on his face.
'We'll see.' Ryan thought to himself. He drew his next card. "I activate Dust Tornado. I select a spell or trap on your side of the field and destroy it. The one I choose is 7 Completed. And then I normal summon Vorse Raider in attack mode."

Crowler LP 4000 - 600 = 3400
"I end my turn with one set card." Ryan said.
Crowler drew his card.
"I'll bring my Soldier back with Monster Reborn. Then I activate Cost Down, lowering the levels of all monsters in my hand. Now I summon Ancient Gear Golem in attack mode." He said.
Ancient Gear Golem ATK 3000 DEF 3000 LV8 EARTH Machine.
"Go after Vorse Raider." Crowler said.
Ryan LP 3900 - 1100 = 2800
"Ha ha, just try to defeat my Ancient Gear Golem." Crowler laughed manically.
"Trust me, it will be easy." Ryan smirked. "I'll special summon Cyber Dragon because my field is empty."
Cyber Dragon ATK 2100 DEF 1600 LV5 LIGHT Machine.
"I tribute Cyber Dragon to summon Blowback Dragon."
Blowback Dragon ATK 2300 DEF 1200 LV6 DARK Machine.
"And now I'll use Blowback Dragon's special ability. During my turn I can flip three coins and if two land on heads, one of your cards in destroyed. I'll select that Ancient Gear Golem."
Ancient Gear Golem exploded.
"Blowback Dragon attack him directly." The mechanical dragon hissed. The hammer on the back of it's head clocked downward and he fired a large bullet at his opponent.
Crowler LP 3800 - 2300 = 1500
"I end my turn with that."
Crowler drew his next card.
"I summon Ancient Gear Knight and end my turn." He said.

Ryan drew his next card.
"I summon Destiny Hero Diamond Dude."
Destiny Hero Diamond Dude ATK 1400 DEF 1600 LV4 DARK Warrior.
"Let's end this. Blowback Dragon, Diamond Dude wipe out the rest of his life points."
