"Hey check it out Mimi. How about this for an instant bath?" Joe asked.
"Gee, now you'll be able to go soak your head. The next thing you know you'll have an allergy attack." Gomamon said, swimming up to Joe.
"Right, that was so funny I forgot to laugh." Joe muttered sarcastically.
"Now that Myotismon's chasing us, we're gonna have to keep running like a bunch of crazed shoppers at the mall. He's just a big creep if you ask me." Mimi said.
"I have to agree with you on that." Joe said.
"Yeah, he's small potatoes for us." Tai said.
"My wish is to never see him again, period." Palmon stated.
"Mine too." Mimi said.
"Gather around, everyone!" Izzy exclaimed as he ran.
"I hope Ash has lunch ready because I'm starving." Tai said.
"Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Tai, but I haven't prepared lunch yet." Ash ran up to the group with Izzy.
"Gennai's back. He wants to speak to us. And I'm sure he'll be happy to meet you Ash." Izzy said.
"I agree. Maybe he can give me a lead on the location of the legendary crest of will." Mimi was just about to ask him something.
"You're saying it's not here?" Mimi questioned.
"That's going to be one hard crest to find." Palmon noted.
They went to find out what Gennai had to say.
"Don't keep us in suspense. What's this all about?" Tai demanded.
"Well, I've brought you some good news and some bad news. Which would you like to hear first?" Gennai asked.
"Save the good news for last." Joe said.
"He's a basket case. Let's start with the good news." Matt said.
"You guys look like you could use some cheering up. I've been told that another child will be joining your group." Gennai stated.
"Another child? Who tells you these things anyway?" Sora asked.
"Well this is someone you'll want as a friend this someone is a Digidestined." Gennai said.
"I hope this new one will have a Digimon that will be able to help us." Yokomon said.
"You and me both." Sora said.
"The important thing to remember is that all 9 of you must be together. As long as you are separated, the worlds will not be in harmony with each other, everything will go wacko, so we must find that other child and the legendary crest of will as soon as possible." Gennai said.
"How do we do that?" Tai asked.
"I hope it's someone my size." T.K. said.
"I hope she's my size so we can swap clothes." Mimi said.
"Tell us something about this kid, like what's his or her name?" Tai asked.
"Uh, the name? Uh...I forgot." Gennai paused for a moment.
They fell down to the ground as Gennai looked at Ash.
"Ash it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm afraid I have good and bad news for you as well." Gennai stated.
"What's the good news?" Ash asked.
"I know where the legendary crest of will is." Gennai answered.
"Where is it?" Izzy asked.
"That's the bad news. It's not here." The Digidestined fell down again.
"Gennai!" Tai exclaimed.
"Calm down. I do know the location of the crest and the child. It's Japan." Gennai said.
"Japan?" Tai asked.
"Where is Japan?" Gabumon asked.
"Japan's a big island in the far east." Agumon answered.
"It's back in Tai's world." Ash added.
"Pika." Pikachu said.
"If they ever converge again, maybe we'll all get to go home." Joe said.
"Remember, that was the good news." Gennai reminded them.
"Can't wait to hear the bad." Tai sarcastically said.
"Myotismon has heard of the 9th child and knows where the legendary crest of will is and will be going to Japan soon. He's gathering his forces as we speak. If he gets to the child and finds the legendary crest of will first, both of our worlds will be doomed." Gennai said.
"Doomed? We need some spies on the inside." Tai said.
"Leave that to me." Ash stated. Tai proceeded to laugh.
"You. Myotismon will notice and take you out. How are..." Tai then trailed off looking at himself.
"Whoa another Tai?" Matt gasped.
"Wait where's Ash?" Joe asked and then heard the other Tai laugh.
"Relax Joe, I'm right here." Ash removed the disguise.
"How did you do that?" Sora asked.
"Simple. I learned how to disguise my appearance thanks to a friend back in Kanto."
Inside Myotismon's castle, we see DemiDevimon with 5 Numemon, 3 Vegiemon, a Sukamon and a Chuumon.
"The noodle brainer team." DemiDevimon said.
"Don't worry. I'll whip em all into shape. These dweebs will be unbeatable when I get through with them." A Digimon said.
(Digi-Analyzer)
"Nanimon is an invader Digimon. I'd tell him what I think about his sunglasses, but his power punch would flatten me."
"Okay, big boy, we know you can talk the talk, but now it's time for you to do your stuff." DemiDevimon said.
"Just watch." Nanimon said.
"I don't wanna." DemiDevimon said, taking his leave to report to Myotismon.
He looks at the new recruits and spots 2 new Digimon walking in. It turned out to be Agumon and Palmon in disguise courtesy of Ash.
"Can I help you two?" Nanimon asked.
"Yep." Agumon and Palmon answered.
"We're a couple of renegade soldiers looking for a battle to fight." Palmon said.
"We may look silly, but underneath our cool exterior we're fighting machines." Agumon said.
"Is that so? Who are you?" Nanimon asked.
"I'm PunkAgumon." Agumon answered.
"I'm ReggaePalmon." Palmon answered.
"Yeah." Agumon and Palmon said, doing a pose. Nanimon raised a brow, doubting that they can hold a candle to him, but he allowed them to join.
"What a couple of weirdos. You're perfect. I'll take ya." Nanimon said.
In Myotismon's study, he is sitting at his desk, reading a book when he heard a knock on his door.
"Come in." Myotismon said. DemiDevimon opened the door and flew inside.
"Myotismon, I have some good news to report. The soldiers are assembled and we're ready to move out." DemiDevimon said.
"Are they worthy of me?" Myotismon asked.
"Yes, my master." DemiDevimon replied as a laugh was heard.
"They're a bunch of helpless sea slugs if you want my opinion." A voice said.
"Who are you?" DemiDevimon demanded. The smaller figure walked behind him.
"Greetings little blue one." The smaller figure spoke. DemiDevimon turned around to see a white cat-like Digimon. She wore a pair of large lime yellow and red striped gloves with black claws sticking out of them. Her ears are large with tufts of purple hair on the tips. Her tail had purple stripes with a tuft on the end and she wore a gold ring. DemiDevimon gritted his teeth.
"You!" DemiDevimon barked.
(Digi-Analyzer)
"I'm Gatomon and believe it or not, I'm a Champion level Digimon. I may look like a cute little kitty, but all roses have their thorns. Do anything to cross me, and I'll become an out of control wild cat. My Lightning Paw attack is a real knockout."
"Just where did you manage to find that group of goof balls, anyway?" DemiDevimon growled in anger.
"You could do better? Besides you weren't zapped by a thunderbolt." DemiDevimon growled again.
"With my paws tied behind my back. I'll easily take care of the trainer wielding the master Digivice."
"Gatomon, don't waste your time on him. Have you done what I've asked of you?" Myotismon asked.
"Yes. Per your instructions, I searched everywhere and found the most ferocious Digimon I could find. You'll be very pleased." Gatomon said as shadows of various Digimon loom in Myotismon's study.
"I knew I could trust you. I look forward to meeting them." Myotismon said.
"Thanks." Gatomon said, smiling at her master's praise.
DemiDevimon growled in anger. A Bakemon enters the study, making an eerie moan.
"What is it?" Myotismon asked.
"We prepared the room and it's ready for your inspection." Bakemon said.
"Fine, the two of you are dismissed." Myotismon said. Gatomon and DemiDevimon took their leave. Myotismon didn't know that Ash and Pikachu had been spying on him. He walked to the bookshelf and opened it with a combination, leading to a secret passage. Myotismon and Bakemon walked down the long stairway.
"What's in that room you're not letting us find out about." Ash sent a message to the others before he and Pikachu follow Myotismon down the stairway.
"Uh if you don't mind my asking sir, what's this room for?" Bakemon asked.
"Yeah what?" Ash questioned.
"Pika." Pikachu said.
"Legends tell of this hollow gate. It is the passageway that will take us forward to the other world. When we pass through this portal, we'll be free to infiltrate the human realm." Myotismon said.
Back outside, Gennai explained their mission to them.
"According to my information, the gate to the other world should be somewhere inside this castle." Gennai said.
"My theory is that Myotismon sent DemiDevimon to distract us while he stayed behind to prepare the gate. Truly an ingenious plan on his part." Izzy said.
"Agumon, Palmon, Ash and Pikachu have certainly been gone a long time. It's not that I'm worried, it's just that, well I hope they're looking for the location of the gate." Tai said.
"I'm wilting, I want to get out of here now." Palmon said.
"Now hop like Bunnymon! Get the jelly out of your legs! This battle's gonna be big, so get with it! You gotta try like you never tried before!" Nanimon yelled out.
"He's right. We never tried before." The first Numemon said.
"So why should we start now?" The second Numemon asked.
"Listen up, anybody that mouths off will go without dinner tonight. You do understand me, don't you?" Nanimon said.
"No way!" The first Numemon exclaimed, making everyone trip. "The food's the only reason we joined this dorky army."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." The rest of the Numemon said.
They took a break from the training while Nanimon was getting a massage from 2 of the Vegiemon. The rest of the recruits sat at a corner, feeling tired and hungry.
"I'd like to soak in a hot tub for about 2 months." Palmon said.
"I've got blisters on my blisters." Agumon said.
"I think we have to stop this guy and I know how to do it." Sukamon said.
"Yeah?" Agumon asked, intrigued.
"I was a soldier with him once before. He likes to drink soda, but the bubbles go right to his head and make him as tipsy as a Doodlemon." Sukamon explained.
"He'll do anything you want." Chuumon said.
"Even let us escape?" Palmon asked.
"I must be exhausted." Agumon said.
"Why?" Palmon asked.
"I thought I saw a little pink thing pop up and talk to us." Agumon said.
"His stomach will fill with bubbles." Sukamon said.
"Yeah! He's sure to explode!" Chuumon added.
"But if it explodes, won't he make us hang around and clean it up?" Agumon asked.
"You're nuts." Palmon said.
"Forget the mess, we can all escape." The first Numemon said.
"One of us should go and get some soda. He won't miss one of us." The second Numemon said.
"That might work." Palmon said.
"After that slob wouldn't let us have dinner, I'll open the bottles and pour them down his throat myself." The third Numemon said, taking off. He started to climb up the wall without Nanimon looking or noticing. Nanimon stands back up.
"Next up, contact sports, how about wrestling?" Nanimon asked.
"Oh, boy," Agumon and Palmon both said.
"Sure," the first Numemon said.
The third Numemon crawls around the kitchen and he looks around for the soda.
"Uh, I wonder where..." The third Numemon said. He found what he's looking for. "There it is!" He jumped on the nearby stool and he takes the soda. He laughed. "This is what he gets for not feeding us." He laughs again.
Outside, Agumon, Palmon, Sukamon, Chuumon, the Vegiemon, and the remaining Numemon get into a pyramid.
"You guys are so pathetic, don't tell me you're all tired!" Nanimon yelled. They all groan. The third Numemon tosses the bottled soda out the window in a parachute. "You're a worthless pack of goons!" He sees the soda coming towards him. "What? What in the world?" He takes the soda and he smiled. "Oh boy! Me likes orange!" Everyone is awestruck by how well the plan was working. Nanimon drinks one bottle after another. "Delicious!" As he kept on drinking the soda, the third Numemo. laughed again.
"Have some more." The third Numemon said, tossing out one more bottle.
Nanimon kept on drinking the soda, making his whole body turn pink. Everyone all gasped when he stopped drinking. He burped and gave off a satisfied sighed. He starts laughing.
"Hey, anybody, wanna go dancing? I'm light on my feet. Whoa, ho, ho," Nanimon said, doing some dances.
"Go! Go! Go! Go!" Everyone chanted.
"Heave, ho! Heave, ho! Ho! Ha! Love that soda! Whoa!" Nanimon said as he fell backwards, falling asleep. Everyone went up to him.
"It worked!" Agumon said.
"Yay!" Everyone cheered.
"Let's get out of here." Agumon said.
"Before he wakes up." Palmon added.
"Yeah." Agumon agreed.
"Bubble fizz won't last forever." Palmon said as she and Agumon ran off.
Outside the castle everyone was anxiously waiting for Agumon and Palmon.
"I'm worried." Tai said.
"Just be patient." Matt said.
Vines came down from their location.
"Hey look! They're back!" Mimi cheered.
"Sorry, we had a big bruiser on our hands." Palmon said.
"Let's go." Tai said as he and the others head for Palmon's vines, so she can pull them up.
"My signal is useless inside the castle, so you're on your own. I'm counting on you." Gennai said.
"We got it covered." Tai assured Gennai.
"I hope so. You must stop Myotismon from carrying out his plan to find the legendary crest and protect your friend in Japan." Gennai said.
"We better move it. Ash is still spying on Myotismon." Palmon said.
"That's right. I hope he hasn't been seen." Sora replied with concern.
Back in Myotismon's study, he looked at the 10 cards on his desk.
"I must find the secret to the gate. Once I understand the meaning of these cards, the key will open the lock, then I will be able to enter the path to the human world. You Digidestined and Ash Ketchum think you're so smart, but in reality, I am always one step ahead of you." Myotismon said, laughing as Ash and Pikachu looked at the cards.
"One step ahead of us. Tai and the others better get here before it's too late." Ash whispered.
"Pika." Pikachu whispered.
The Digidestined and their partners ventured through the castle, trying to find the gateway, but it didn't take long for them to see something was off. Matt, T.K., Gabumon and Patamon walked around.
"I've got a real funny feeling about this, you guys." Patamon said.
"Think something's wrong?" T.K. asked.
"Something just doesn't feel right." Patamon said.
The four then find out they're walking on the ceiling.
Meanwhile with Joe, Gomamon and the others...
Joe tried to open the lock, but he had no luck getting it down.
"Making any progress, Joe?" Gomamon asked.
"No. This lock's ancient. I still can't break it." Joe said.
"Maybe if we had the key it would open." Mimi suggested.
"Yeah and maybe if we had a cannon we can blast our way in." Sora said.
"It's no use." Joe said.
"Maybe there's another way in." Yokomon guessed.
"Let's check." Sora said as the four walk off.
"Joe, let's go." Gomamon said. Joe hung his head in defeat and sighed.
"How come I never get to be the hero?" Joe asked as he sighed again. He goes with the girls.
With Tai and Agumon...
"Something's totally weird here." Tai said.
"What?" Agumon asked.
"We passed this way before." Tai pointed out.
"Is that you Tai?" Izzy asked. Tai looked down to him.
"Yeah, I'm up here. Have you found anything unusual down there, Izzy?" Tai asked.
"Well you could say that Tai. The truth is, you're way down there and we're up here." Tentomon said.
"I think you guys may need glasses. We're way up here above you." Agumon said.
"There's no way. That's scientifically impossible!" Izzy exclaimed.
They screamed, knowing something was really screwy.
Elsewhere Ray and Falcomon were also walking on the ceiling.
"I hope we rejoin the others soon because this is ridiculous." He sweat dropped.
Back in Myotismon's study, he summons Gatomon and DemiDevimon before him.
"I'm ready to proceed. Go now and tell our forces that no sacrifice is too great in this moment of glory." Myotismon said.
"Right." Gatomon and DemiDevimon both said, stepping out again.
"There's certainly no need to tell them that they won't be sharing in the rewards. I hold all the cards and they are no longer a mystery. Now all I need to do is find the Digidestined 8th child and the legendary crest of will." Myotismon said, holding the cards in his hand.
Back with the Digidestined, they managed to get out of the wacky mess they had gotten into.
"My theory is that Myotismon set up these optical illusions to deter us from finding the gate." Izzy stated.
"Well, I'd say he's succeeded. We're still as lost as we were before we started." Tai said.
"All we've done so far is go round and round in circles, and we don't even know up from down." Matt said.
T.K. then heard his Digivice go off.
"Well, why not just follow the signal that's being off by Ash's Digivice." T.K. suggested.
"Good idea. If Ash followed Myotismon and managed to avoid being tricked by the illusions, we can too." Izzy said.
"Huh?" Gomamon asked. Everyone looked at him.
"What is it?" Joe asked.
"Someone's coming." Gomamon said.
"You sure?" Joe asked.
"You doubt me?" Gomamon asked.
Everyone gasped when they heard what Gomamon heard. They saw all sorts of Digimon walking down a path.
"I'm itching to fight." One of the Digimon said.
"Why? Cause you got fleas?" Another Digimon asked. The Digidestined saw the Digimon making their way to the gate.
"They seem to know where they're going." Matt said.
"Maybe we should follow them." Sora said.
"They'll lead us to the right place, because Ash isn't far away from there."
The Digidestined and the Digimon follow the evil Digimon down to the gate.
At the same time...
Ash and Pikachu are overhearing Myotismon's speech.
"I shall now be embarking on a journey to another world. There are forces that must be neutralized before our victory here can be complete. But never fear, I shall return in triumph!" Myotismon declared. DemiDevimon, Nanimon and the recruits all cheer.
"It's time to stand back and watch me work my magic. Open the gate to my destiny!" 9 out of 10 cards land on the podium. They started to glow. Myotismon grinned as the gate had opened.
"Son of a Bisharp, he did it." Ash whispered.
"Pika." Pikachu whispered.
Gatomon turned to the evil Digimon.
"Company, move!" Gatomon ordered.
The evil Digimon marched right through the gate.
"Hold it, I sense a strong power. And it's not far away." Myotismon said. Ash then realized Myotismon was aware of his presence.
"Time to get back to the others Pikachu." They were about to leave when...
"Lightning Paw." Gatomon spotted Ash and Pikachu as Myotismon and his forces took notice.
"I knew you were spying on us to try and learn our plan. Unfortunately you won't live long enough to tell the tale." Myotismon remarked as he and Ash saw the Digimon pass through the gate. He was about to pass through the gate as well.
"You're not going anywhere, not as long as we can help it!" Tai exclaimed as he and the rest of the group panted.
"About time. What took you guys so long?" Ash asked.
"Took a bad detour." Matt explained.
Then Ray and UlforceVeedramon stormed the room to stop Myotismon.
"What is your name? Do you work for me? Can't you see I'm busy at the moment?" Myotismon asked.
"Yeah, right!" Tai yelled.
"DemiDevimon, would you please take care of this annoying gang of hoodlums? I have better things to do." Myotismon said.
"Of course sir, anything you want. I'm at your service." DemiDevimon said. He, Nanimon and his recruits blocked the path."I'm not letting you get past this gate!"
"Fat chance, you little twerp!" Tai said.
"I've brought reinforcements. It's all yours, Nanimon." DemiDevimon said.
"Right." Nanimon said, stepping forward. "Don't even think about getting past me, you got it?"
"Farewell, Digidoomed and myth Ketchum." Myotismon said, getting in his carriage. He rides off inside the gate.
"Okay, let's fight!" Nanimon exclaimed.
"Yeah!" The recruits reluctantly said.
"We don't wanna fight you guys, but the future is at stake." Agumon said.
"You'll have to forgive us." Palmon said.
"Listen Tai, you and the others head for the gate. Leave this to me." Tai shook his head.
"No Ash, we can help. We won't let you be stranded here." Tai protested. Ash flashed a smile.
"Go after Myotismon." Ray ordered.
"Tai, if that gate closes you won't be able to save the 9th child. You have to trust me."
"Alright." Tai reluctantly agreed. "Make sure to come back to the gate."
They then made a bee-line for the gate, minus Sora and Yokomon who wanted to watch Ash's battle. He took his Poke Balls off his belt.
"Alright come on out and fight." Ash stated as he threw the Poke Balls and released five of his Pokemon.
"Gre."
"Char."
"Talon."
"Scep."
"Glis."
Ash then looked at Pikachu.
"You ready?" He asked.
"Pika." Pikachu nodded.
"It's time to master Digivolve!"
"Digimon."
"Digimon Digital Monsters, Digimon are the champions. Digimon Digital Monsters, Digimon are the champions."
"Ash Master Digivolve to...Voltachu!" The transformation caused them to become afraid of him and his Pokemon. But they weren't the only ones eager to fight.
"Ready to take us on." Voltachu stated as the Digimon ran away.
"I order everyone back into rank!" Nanimon exclaimed.
"Come on I'll buy you dinner." Nanimon offered as Voltachu prevented him from stopping the Digidestined.
"Whoa! You're big. Anyone need a wrestling coach?" Nanimon said. He took out a white flag, knowing he had no chance against Voltachu.
"Hey! You can't resign!" DemiDevimon exclaimed. Nanimon turned around with a stern look on his face.
"Ash! Let's go, you and I can reach the gate." Sora stated. Voltachu agreed and ran to the gate. But he was stopped by Gatomon.
"You haven't dealt with me yet, trainer." Gatomon stated.
"Do you really want to fight both of us?" UlforceVeedramon asked the white feline.
Voltachu and UlforceVeedramon engaged Gatomon in battle. Their armor made it very hard for Gatomon to injure them.
"Sora go. I'll catch up soon." Sora nodded. She and Biyomon ran to the gate and then Tai yelled out.
"Voltachu, come on!"
"You and your Pokemon need to get to the gate." Voltachu spotted the gate.
"Come on you guys." Voltachu said as his Pokemon follow.
"I don't think so." Gatomon's tail ring glowed. 3 dark dragon Digimon woke up and roared.
(Digi-Analyzer)
"Devidramon, he's one nasty dragon and guardian of the gate. Devi doesn't like losing and if you want a real surprise, look into his eyes, you'll be hypnotized." Devidramon cut their advance short.
Everyone gasped.
"So you want to fight. Very well Volt Blast." A bolt of electricity was fired at the Devidramon. The Pokemon also went on the offensive.
"Victory Sword." UlforceVeedramon plunged the sword that extended from his right V-bracelet into one of the Devidramon.
"Guys, hurry up before you're trapped in the Digital World." Tai exclaimed.
"Hurry!" Sora yelled.
"They're not going to make it. Look!" Izzy pointed. Ash's Pokemon had become hypnotized and were on the verge of defeat.
"How's that for a awesome fight." DemiDevimon smirked. Ash was torn. Should he head to the gate and let his Pokemon die or remain in the Digital World after the gate closes. The cards Myotismon used were another issue. Ash then made up his mind.
"Sorry guys, but I'm not going to let anything bad happen to my Pokemon." Voltachu stated before heading off to help his Pokemon.
"What are you doing? The gate is closing, Voltachu." Tai told him.
"We'll find another way back to the real world." Ray argued. "You guys need to worry about Myotismon."
"Come on guys. You heard what they said. They'll meet up with us soon." Matt said. The Digidestined disappeared into the gate as Voltachu, the Pokemon and UlforceVeedramon turned the Devidramon back into Digi-Eggs.
"That's that." Ash reverted back to normal and returned his Pokemon to their Poke Balls. He, Ray and UlforceVeedramon headed to the gate as fast as they could. Gatomon and DemiDevimon stood in front of the gate.
"Sorry trainer, your friends may have gotten through the gate but you're too late. See you in Japan." Gatomon stated as the gate shut. Ash sighed. He was too late.
"Ah, Dugtrio. I should have known I was running out of time. I should have hurried up."
"It doesn't matter. Gennai probably has another way for us to get back."
Outside the castle...
"You did the right thing. Now that you know what the secret of the gate is, I have the cards you're looking for. Come to my house. I'll give you more information about your Digivice." Gennai stated as the four left the castle.
"Ready Pikachu!" Ash exclaimed.
"Pika." Pikachu said.
The group headed to Gennai's house.
Back with the Digidestined...
They had returned to the summer camp they attended before obtaining their Digivices.
"I can't believe Ash didn't make it through the gate." T.K. said.
"He was very brave wanting to stay behind and save his Pokemon." Mimi noted.
"He sure is strong-willed, it's no wonder the master Digivice chose him." Matt said.
"Come on guys. There's no need to worry, those four will find their way back and we're going to wait for them." Tai said.
"Yeah. We'll be reunited in no time." Koromon added.
"How? Does Ash watch lots of TV?" Joe asked.
"No, he's constantly traveling." Tai answered.
Sora stared up at the sky in thought as Yokomon made her way over to her.
"Do you miss Ash, Sora?" Yokomon asked.
"Yeah. I hope he's going to be okay."
"It's okay Sora. Ash always says don't give up until it's over." Sora knew her partner was right and smiled.
Meanwhile...
"You have failed again, DemiDevimon." Myotismon said.
"Me? What did I do?" DemiDevimon asked.
"You didn't steal the Master Digivice when you were fighting the trainer. It's the only thing that can locate the legendary crest of will." Myotismon explained as Gatomon came up to him.
"There's one solution Myotismon. Instead of us finding the legendary crest, we let Ash Ketchum find it for us. After all he knew that the only way to get to Japan was through the cards."
"Excellent idea Gatomon. We'll find the ninth child first and then we'll go after the legendary crest of will. One more thing, nobody kills the trainer but me. I'll destroy him and his Pokemon personally." Myotismon said.
There was cheering from the evil Digimon.
