Hello again and welcome to Chapter 2 of the story. Talita will be heading to Eduardo to tell him about what had happened. He's not alone of course, he has two guests over that he's talking to. Who are they? We will only find out by reading, so let's do it!

(30 minutes after the Harpy Eagle incident)

Talita was currently flying through the air with the small chick on her back. The crying had worn her out, so the Harpy decided to carry her to Eduardo's hollow.

Once she spotted his tree she slowly descended, making sure the little one on her back wouldn't fall off. The guards saw the small blue body on her back and instantly assisted in getting it off her back.

"What happened Talita? Is this chick alive?" One of the guards asked.

"Yes! I need to see Eduardo about her!" Talita instantly answered while grabbing the chick and putting her in a shoulder hold.

"Ok but be warned. He's taking with Blu and his daughter at the moment."

Talita nodded before entering the hollow. She laid down the chick in a nest close to the exit before she was interrupted by the voice of Jewel.

"Talita? What's going on?"

She turned around and saw Blu, Jewel and Eduardo facing towards her. All their faces blanketed by varying amounts of worry.

"Me, Roberto and a few on his men we out on patrol. We split up and I heard heard screaming." Talita explained, turing her head towards the resting chick.

"The parents?" Blu questioned.

"Dead. A wild Eagle got them. I was too late..." Talita looked down at the floor and closed her eyes in grief.

She had seen death loads of times during her 7 years of life so far, mostly birds that were critically sick/injured in her and her wife's care. So far most of them had to be euthanized as there was nothing that could be done to make them better...

"I'm so sorry you feel that way Talita... Thankfully you helped their child live, so at least that counts." Jewel whispered in a soothing voice while walking with Blu towards the chick in the bed.

She carefully stroked the little bird head with a few of her feathers as if they were one of her children. Talita looked up at what she was doing, then faced towards the side of her head.

"I don't know what to do where her though. I don't want her to end up in a bird orphanage." She spoke in a worried tone.

Blu and Jewel faced up towards Talita, then down at a chick. Blu had a quick think before an idea sprang into his head.

"We'll take her in for a bit while you look for the perfect parents to adopt her. What do you say Jewel?" Blu ecstatically blurted out from his beak.

She had a bit of thinking before facing towards Eduardo and asking him a question.

"Would that be OK with you dad?"

He looked towards his daughter and the chick before giving a final answer.

"Of course. You take her back to your nest, I'll sort out finding the right parents with some associates of mine"

Both of the Spix's Macaw parents smiled happily towards the elder macaw before scooping up the chick. They both went outside and Blu bent down so Jewel could put her on his back. Once they were both ready they instantly flapped away, their destination being their nest.

Talita was about to head back to where her wife was before being interrupted by a voice.

"One more thing Talita."

She turned around to face the elder Macaw, his face in a grateful pose.

"Thank you for doing your best today. The parents may have been killed, but at least you saved a young life today. I owe you my gratitude."

She gave him a "thank you" nod before heading outside of the hollow and flapping away. She hoped the chick would be alright in the presence of her friends.

(The Gunderson's Nest)

Both Blu and Jewel arrived at their home, the male landing as softly as he could so his mate could pick up the chick on his back.

The both entered, picking a bedroom around the back wall. They gently placed her into the bed to let her rest up a bit more from the stressful morning she had.

"Mom? Dad? Who's that?"

The parents turned around to see where the loud voice came from. It was their daughter Carla. They both pressed their index feathers on their beaks to indicate that she should ger voice down. Once she caught on, she tiptoed towards her parents to check out the new guest.

"We don't know who she is right now, but all we know is that she had a bad day." Blu said to his young daughter.

"How so?"

"A predator got her parents, so we're temporarily taking her in until someone else can take care of her."

Carla's face turned into one of guilt, she felt awful for this poor girl that was in front of her. She then looked back up at her dad.

"I'll go tell bro and sis about this if that's ok?"

"Go for it. We don't want Tiago to prank her and make us look bad."

Carla silently giggled at her father's joke before tiptoeing back to the entrance and flying away.

"I'll stay here and keep an eye on her honey, you head back to my dad and chat to him." Jewel spoke to her husband in a low voice.

"Alright. I'll see you later then."

He gave her a quick peck on the beak before gliding towards the entrance and flying back to Eduardo's nest. Jewel watched his every move and once he was gone, she turned her attention towards the chick.

"I hope you and my children will become really great friends once you've settle in..."

A more uplifting ending, won't you say? The little chick is hopefully in the safe hands of Blu and Jewel as of right now. In Chapter 3, we'll be focusing on who she is, how she'll get on with the Gunderson kids and how Talita's wife Emily will react when she hears about what happened. See you all later readers!
