Dear Journal,
The wind sings a melody as I get up from my warm bed to meet Ladybug for patrol. The moon is playing hide and seek with the clouds as I exit the window and a light rain rain forms. The lights of the Tower glow softly reflecting in the forming puddles by my feet. Wait, I'm not Cat Noir. I'm Cat Walker. There must be some mistake, or a reason I don't know. Plagg told me when your personality changes the suit changes with you.
I find Ladybug sitting in our usual spot, kneels curled up to her chest, trying to keep warm. Weak moonlight shines through the clouds and I see individual water droplets shining like beads in her black hair.
She turns and sees me, a look of surprise on her lovely features. Of course, she's surprised. She was expecting Cat Noir, not Cat Walker. I grab the blanket near me and walk forward. "Ladybug, are you cold?" She nods and I sit down wrapping the warm blanket around her shoulders. "were is Cat Noir?" "He had another mission tonight, so he sent me. Its good to see you again."
I'm surprised when she sighs and continues to look out over the city. "Is something wrong?" Ladybug continues to stare ahead. "Could I ask you for some advice?" "I'll do my best." My ponytail is getting wet as the rain is picking up. "Let's go under the eave and we can talk," I tell her.
Once were under, Ladybug sits down again opening the blanket wide. "Here, there's room for two." "You have something heavy weighing on your mind," I say, before I can stop it, and she looks at me in surprise. "How did you know?" "Your posture, your voice. What is troubling you, Ladybug?"
"Have you ever had a secret that you were so scared to tell someone, you pushed them away and ever spoke about it? A secret so dark, you dream about it night after night like a never ending nightmare."
Is this why she's been so distracted these past few months, and the angry outburst come out of the blue? I listen to the rain picking up. If she wants to tell me, she will when she is ready. "A few months ago," her voice is quiet so I have to lean forward to hear her, "Cat Noir got akumatized. He was turned into Cat Blanc the White Cat who had the ultimate power of destruction."
My heart skids to a stop for a moment. How could that have happened? "We were in love and it destroyed the world, and I was destroyed too."
I hear the words, but they are along way away like I'm inside a tunnel. "But your sitting beside me, Ladybug." She looks up at me, her eyes wet. "It was a different timeline, so I was able to fix everything. Even if he was my enemy, he kept saying he loved me over and over and all I had to do was hand over my Miraculous. Will it always be like this when I fall in love, destroying the world?" I put my arm around her as she buries her face in my chest and begins to cry. "I want to protect him because I love him. And here I have to sit quiet and silent."
She's finally told me, even if I'm not Cat Noir at the moment but the same person. "Even if was hard," she gasps, "I'm glad I told you my secret." I rest my head on top of hers. "When the time is right, you'll tell Cat Noir. He'll understand."
"Thanks for listening, I should find Cat Noir. He probably fell asleep somewhere." I give her a little kiss on the cheek before standing up. "Cat Noir is lucky to have you as a partner and a best friend. Good luck, Ladybug."
I walk down the step, my brain still processing the information. When I transform again, I'm back to being Cat Noir. I meet Ladybug on the steps, heading down from the tower. "Bugaboo! I'm sorry, I overslept." She gives me a little smile. "Well, I'm glad you showed up, Kitty. I was worried about you."
Her voice sounds normal now, as if the conversation with me as Cat Walker never happened. How does she do it? Her fingers find mine, interlacing our fingers. We are still near the top of the tower, deep in the shadows and I doubt anyone can see us.
"M'lady," I whisper and pull her to me, hugging her close. Her head rests on my chest, listening to the rhythm of my heart beating. I keep my eyes closed as I stroke her hair softly.
I feel her lips brush against my own as we step back a bit, and I pull her back to me, capturing her mouth. She hesitates a moment or two, then kisses back. Her fingers tangle in my soft blonde hair her touch sending a deep rumbling purr throughout my body. "Cat Noir!" she pulls away as she giggles. "Did I just hear you purr?" I open my mouth to answer and something between the purr and a meow leave my mouth. "You want to get some hot chocolate? Its very wet out tonight."
She runs her hands through my hair again. "That's right, cat's don't like water do they?" I touch noses with her. "You really are a sassy little bug," I grin. She flushes.
Unfortunately for us, its to late to get a warm drink, but we find the warmth of each other's arms again. "I heard you talked to Cat Walker tonight." Her eyes stare into mine. "Did he say anything?" "Only where to find you. You can trust him." She stays quiet, nodding.
I won't push, when she ready, I'll listen.
"M'lady, when you are feeling alone,
feel free to take my hand.
If you need to talk, I'll lend you my ear."
"Thank you, Cat Noir." Ladybug waves as she zips away into the night, and stare up at the moon that I once destroyed.
