*-stretches hard from barely waking up-*
Phew morning everyone, just got out of bed and the new sheets are incredibly comfy that I didn't wanna get up lol, but alas it's basically another new story to put in as usual. This one has been held up for some time even though it's short, but now it's up! Hope you enjoy! ^u^

A Lazy Morning
The sun rose above the horizon on the floating atoll of Angel Island, spreading its radiant warmth across the land. The mountains were the first to appear in its light as they were the tallest, followed by the vast biomes within such as the grassy plains, vast forests and snowy terrain among others. It looked like it was going to be a great day indeed, the sun's rays going up to a certain altar that housed a certain large gem surrounded by seven smaller ones. They still kept going however and finally rested upon a small dome-shaped structure with a door and a few windows.
The faint yellow glow of the day penetrated the clear glass from the small structure and crawled its way to a bed. It kept going as it crossed the sheets and laid its glow upon a patch of red disheveled quills poking out of them. Movement was instant, a groan of annoyance coming out of a humanoid being as it turned and clenched its eyes tight from the sun's rays.
"Damnit, this is why I don't like sleeping in here…" he whispered, violet eyes slowly opening as he blinked several times. He got up and sat while stretching his arms in the air, hearing the pops of joints and sore muscles. With a shake of his head, Knuckles the Echidna looked at the window angrily with clenched teeth as he took in his surroundings.
'That's right… I slept in here last night. It wasn't my choice however, because…' he looked to his side and smiled, an orange hand grasping on his arm. 'Wow, I still can't believe she's alive again…'
Beside him slept the form of Tikal, an echidna girl from 3,000 years into the past that sacrificed herself to seal Chaos who threatened the world at the time. It wasn't her choice to do it, her father Pachacamac attacking the Emerald Altar and causing Chaos to go berserk and absorb the power of the emeralds. In its rage did it cause their people to go almost extinct if it wasn't for her grandmother's prayer she knew in order to seal it. The cost for her however was her physical body in which she became trapped along with the water monster for centuries. After that did she became free for a while upon Knuckles smashing the emerald in order for to prevent Eggman from stealing it and from there she helped the red guardian and his friends defeat Chaos since it was freed as well; in the end the water mutant was defeated and the Master Emerald restored. After that Knuckles himself wished upon not being alone anymore and by surprise did the Master Emerald revive her to be with him. It was an awkward meeting at first but eventually did they get to know one another more and on the first day did they confess their love for each other, proving it through a LONG night of mating.
Knuckles smiled like a dummy at the experience. Tikal's melodic voice rang throughout the night as he ravished her soft body. His hormones raged as the hidden instincts he never knew he had were unleashed and caused him to go all out. The orange echidna herself was surprisingly able to keep up as well, though because she didn't have as much endurance as he did she got tired very easily. He was patient enough for her to recover when she needed it, but her lust for him greatly outweighed the fatigue and many rounds went on and on. Not only that but he saw a side of her he never knew she'd have, which wasn't bad but at the same time would be something he'd get used to. Plus he enjoyed dominating her and by the look of how happy she was last night, didn't argue one bit. Of course she wouldn't anyway, considering Knuckles himself takes pride in being assertive and in control. It's ironic since he spent most of his life alone on the island… not anymore now that Tikal was there to live the rest of her life with the emerald guardian she loved very deeply.
Sighing in content at the thoughts, Knuckles carefully moved his arm away from her grasp until he was fully free from it. However his heart clenched a bit upon seeing her try to find something to grab, her expression scrunching up in slight sadness yet returning to her normal sleeping one after. The emerald guardian looked at her with a bit of guilt but knew that she needed her rest, Knuckles turning and exiting the room as he closed the door silently.
The living room greeted him to which Knuckles shivered a bit, not used to the environment. "I still didn't want Tails to do this, but he's just like Sonic and won't take no for an answer hehe." he whispered. Walking towards the couch he decided to lay on it as he stared at the ceiling.
"Let's see, today would be the usual stuff. Taking a dip in the lake, searching for food, guarding the Master Emerald, a bit of training, search for food again, then sleep." the male echidna said. A frown came upon his face, however. "That's the same thing I said yesterday… and the day before… and the day before that."
He shook his head in frustration, not knowing what change of plan he could put in for today. "Then again Tikal is alive and will be living with me now. It'll be a big change but for me… I don't mind it at all. Heck I think the plans from now on will be very different hehe."
Knuckles continued to look at the ceiling, arms crossed behind his head as a makeshift pillow. 'I'm just glad she's alive again. I kind of expected her to go with Sonic or something, knowing that she might be better off exploring the world out there. Yet she chose to be here, wanting to know more about what's changed compared to back then. Not just on that, but wanting to be with me… I still can't believe it… I feel like it's all a dream still, but it's not.'
The emerald guardian grinned, the image of the female echidna coming into his mind with her cute smile and gorgeous blue eyes. "It's all real. I'm no longer the last of my kind…"
"Knuckie…?"
He got startled a bit by the voice making its presence heard. Knuckles looked towards the entrance to the bedroom, violet eyes widening in surprise.
Tikal stood there rubbing her eyes cutely in all her glory, peach-colored fur with slightly disheveled dreadlock quills running towards her mid-back. Just like him she didn't have any clothing on (Knuckles however only wears gloves and shoes) and didn't have her jeweled headpiece or necklace. She was as bare as the day she was born, her sapphire eyes watching him with a bit of sleepiness.
"Why did you leave?" she said quietly. Knuckles shivered and did the guilt go inside him again, knowing that the echidna princess would ask him that. "U-Um, I didn't want to wake you or anything. You also looked so peaceful that I didn't want to disturb you." he responded.
Tikal continued to watch him then sighed, walking towards Knuckles…
"OOF!"
…and not surprisingly falling onto him.
"Knuckie, we're mates now. It hurts me to wake up and not see you by my side." she looked up at him sadly. "Please don't do that again…"
'FUCK YOU DUMB MORON WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!' Knuckles scolded himself internally. The second day and he already made a mistake, the larger echidna assuming that he left her forever or something. Not thinking on it any further he just wrapped his arms around her and brought her closer, Tikal making a happy sound and feeling more of his strong body.
"I won't Tikie. I'm sorry." he apologized. Tikal looked up at him and brought her lips to his, Knuckles returning it as well. The passion behind it was indescribable, Knuckles' lips dancing with Tikal's with their hands softly roaming their bodies. The smaller of the two pressing further into her mate, her torso meeting his. She moaned at his touch, rough hands caressing her peach-colored fur and exploring every curve she had on her, squealing whenever he traveled towards her rear. At times did the larger male grab hold of her tail and massaged it, hearing her melodic yelps since he knew it was sensitive. She returned the favor by feeling upon his strong chest and sides, the strength from years of battle and training providing results to his slightly bulky form. Tikal memorized every inch of rock-hard muscle down to the last line, tracing her finger along his abs which caused Knuckles to shiver and sigh within their kiss. Eventually did air become a necessity and they slowly separated, looking at one another lovingly.
Tikal cuddled further into Knuckles and rested her head under his chin while letting out a blissful sigh. "You were incredible last night Knuckie. I loved every single moment of it and I cannot describe how amazing it was." she looked up to gaze at purple eyes staring at her gently. "I truly did wish you lived during my time. I could no longer live without you by my side."
Knuckles smiled and kissed her forehead, her face scrunching up in glee. "And I won't ever leave you Tikie. I went far too long being the last of my kind and to see another echidna alive, especially one as beautiful and sweet as you, I will protect and love you with everything I have."
The echidna princess smiled wider and nuzzled his neck, Knuckles reacting with a small laugh. Afterwards a small comfortable silence filled the room with the red echidna resting his hands on his lover's back as she breathed softly, laying on him with head close to his chest and admiring the rhythm of his heart.
"So what will we be doing today Knuckie?" Tikal asked him. Knuckles watched the ceiling in thought and shrugged. "I don't know. I normally just wake up, eat, guard the Master Emerald, train a bit, wash up, eat and then go to bed. My days are kind of the same thing over and over again."
Tikal hummed at his response, tracing her finger in circles on his chest. "Well with me returning again I believe that will all change correct?" she said. Knuckles continued to look up at the ceiling, a small grin appearing on him. "Yeah, my life will be a lot more exciting."
"Good. It must be awful being alone for your entire life." the orange-furred girl stated.
"Well it was at first, but I learned to live with it and now it doesn't bother me. I mean I wasn't entirely alone for my whole life since that changed when Sonic, Tails and Eggman came. From there I met many new friends and although they don't live on the island here, it's a nice feeling to know that someone knows of your existence." Knuckles explained. Tikal watched him sadly and nuzzled him some more. "Well luckily you won't be living alone anymore."
"Yeah, but I felt like you could be better off with Sonic. You can explore the world and see what goes on out there. Angel Island wasn't how it was during your time and there's hardly anything here. I mean I don't do much and I'm not much of an int- mpfh!"
Knuckles was silenced by Tikal's lips upon his again. It lasted several seconds, her soft mouth caressing his own like before and the emerald guardian didn't fight it. They separated afterwards with Tikal giving him a small frown.
"Knuckie, I will NEVER leave you. I do not plan on leaving my mate. Ever. Sonic can explore the world on his own or with his friends, but I will be by your side for the rest of my life. I would rather be here where I was given another chance at life than in another place where I would not know of anything." Tikal brought a hand to his face and laid it on his cheek. "I don't see you as a boring person my love. I admire you for who you are, not because you believe you are inferior to another. You have also saved the world so don't think low of yourself."
The red echidna sighed and grinned. "Hehe sorry, I was getting ahead of myself. Thank you my love… for knowing that I still have meaning to live."
"Good, now for your punishment for even saying such things hehe~." Tikal moved up a bit and smiling deviously, opened her mouth and bit the curve of his neck.
Knuckles gasped, the nerves there going into overdrive and feeling her soft nibbling. "W-Wait Tikie I'm- HAHAHA!"
Laughing herself the echidna princess kept her assault, the larger of the two playfully wiggling around to escape yet she kept a firm grasp on him. She added her tongue to move it in circles on his fur which only caused his eyes to dilate and more laughs came out of him. "HAHAHA stop Tikie! I'm ticklish there HAHAHA!"
With a small pop she left go of Knuckles' neck, a damp spot laying in its wake. "Hopefully you don't say such things in front of me ever again hehe." she grinned straddling his waist. Her sapphire eyes watched her mate gasping for breath with his own grin. "*pant* Okay… *pant* I promise."
"Good." However that was the only thing she said until Knuckles rose up and turned them so she was lying on the couch. "WHA- K-Knuckie?!" She didn't say more than that, gulping in fear upon seeing his sharp eyes and smirk watching her like a predator with his prey.
"Don't think I'll take this one without getting revenge." he said, raising his hands like claws as the orange echidna watched frozen. Instantly did they come to her sides and the male moved them around quickly.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Tikal laughed loud, Knuckles smiling with his lover squirming around erratically beneath him. "Now you know how it feels!"
"OKAY-HA OKAY! PLEASE-HAHAHA-MERCY-HAHA!" she couldn't control herself, his big fingers rapidly moving around her torso with her face contorted and tears slightly coming out from laughter. Knuckles loved seeing that expression, knowing that his most cherished person is happy and enjoying herself. "I can't Tikie, I want to make you laugh! I want to make you happy!"
"HAHAHAHA-YOU ARE YOU ARE-HAHAHAH!" Tikal reached her hands towards Knuckles and grasped his biceps hard. "NO-HAHAHAHA-MORE!"
"More? Okay we can do more!" Knuckles smiled and increased his speed. Tikal breathed deeply and raised herself up to hug his neck to stop him. However that caused his arms to also go up and both fell towards the couch, letting out a grunt and rolling once to the ground. Surprised, both echidnas looked at each other and laughed.
"Oh my goodness Knuckie I told you to stop hehe~." Tikal booped his nose with her finger softly. "You could've lost your most favorite person and be the last of our kind again."
Knuckles simply stuck out his tongue. "I would never Tikie, but I'm one to give payback and you're no exception my love."
"Really? Then I guess no mating for a month then." the orange-furred girl noticed his distraught expression and stuck out her own tongue. "I am kidding Knuckie~! I can't go on without feeling your touch for a month hehe~."
The emerald guardian let out a sigh of relief. "Phew, that would've killed me and YOU would be the last of our kind hehe."
"Nope, you're staying with me alive and well." Tikal responded. "So what would you like to-WAH!"
The echidna female was surprised as Knuckles picked her up bridal style and sat on the couch carrying her still. "K-Knuckie?!" she blushed hard and curled up more.
"Sorry my love, I didn't want you to get tired again. Last night must've been heavy on you." he whispered. Tikal looked at him with sparkling eyes in awe and cuddled further into him.
"Oh, well… thank you my love. For caring for me so much." Tikal sighed and closed her eyes. "You're just like my grandmother, making sure I'm well and treating me so amazingly. My father and the tribe themselves were the complete opposite, saying hurtful things and ignoring my pleas for peace. In the end I was only trampled and had to sacrifice myself to save what was left." Tears began to appear in her blue orbs as she sniffed. "Thank you Knuckie… I love you so much… so so much…"
Knuckles smiled brightly, raising his hand and brushing away at the tears. "It's okay Tikie. I love you so much too and I won't let anything bad happen to you. Just like I am guardian of the Master Emerald, I am also the guardian of you."
Tikal sniffed once more and looked up, her gaze locked upon his own. They got closer once again and kissed passionately, this time a caring and nurturing one. Their love poured into one another intensely with their lips dancing in another bout, fitting each other perfectly. The echidna princess placed a hand on his chest with the other in her lap, the larger echidna keeping one to hold her with the other going into her orange quills. Their tongues caressed each other with small sounds coming out from the pair, feeling the pleasure of knowing that there is someone that truly cares for them. It lasted several minutes, the silence of the room only overtaken by the smooches and soft lip-smacking.
Separating slowly Tikal rested her head under his chin once again with Knuckles keeping her close. He felt a kiss on his chest and immediately a warm feeling flowed into his body as he smiled. "I guess we can stay here for the rest of the day. How does that sound?" he asked. The echidna princess thought for a bit, then smiled and nodded. "Yes, I would love to spend my time in here with you." she answered.
GROWL!
Both echidnas blushed and laughed, Tikal rubbing her mate's stomach. "It looks like my darling's hungry today~."
"Hehe yup. All that work I put to you last night got me starving." Knuckles grinned. Tikal blushed at how he said it but nonetheless returned the gesture. "Well okay, I can make us something if you'd like."
The red echidna nodded and rose up, his orange lover squealing along the way. "AH~! Knuckie I can walk haha~!"
"I know, but today my beautiful princess will be treated like one so no walking for you hehe." Knuckles smirked as he walked to the kitchen. Tikal gave him a playful pout and sighed happily. "Okay my handsome guardian, but I still need to get down so I can make the food darling~."
"We'll figure it out my love, together." Knuckles stopped for a second and chuckled. "Darling huh? I like that."
"Good, I don't mind for you to think of something to call me besides my nickname. As long as you are with me by my side." she said nuzzling him. The emerald guardian nodded and continued walking. "And I'll always be with you, honey."

So as you have read this far, it's basically the day after one of my other stories (Alone No More). There was no lemon to this one as it's more on the chill side but don't worry, I'll see what I can come up with for the next story hehe.
