5 months later
Driving on a road in the Canadian wilderness was a roofless jeep, one that was driven by hunters. In the jeep was a man in maybe his 40s or 50s in hunter gear. This man's name was Robert Muldoon, a game warden as well as a hunter. He is a cautious man and a bit of an alarmist, which is why he was driving toward a small town on the edge of the Canadian forest, which was long and deep, and there was many rumours... of a giant beast of sorts roaming the forest, taking prey and several Canadian hunters have gone missing.
And then there wad the report of a woman from five months ag, a woman who ended up in a mental asylum afterwards. She went out about a... dinosaur saving her from being raped.
Needless to say, the dinosaur part had gotten the attention of John Hammond, creator of Jurassic Park, and he had sent Robert to investigate these rumours and see if this 'dinosaur' was real, or the woman saw something else that could be a attraction at Jurassic Park.
Though Hammond had all the dinosaurs at Jurassic Park genetically created so that they could be controlled and monitored better, Robert didn't know what possessd the man to think trying to capture a wild beast would be a suitable idea for the park. Most zoos had animals bred in captivity, to keep them docile and not exactly harmless to visitors that stand and gawk at them.
But Robert was equally curious about this 'dinosaur' and had been tracking it for the past five months, his search leading him to the Candian wilds where he had gotten word from a friend of a large creature eating wildlife and the disappearance of several hunters in the area. This is why he was here, to meet up with this friend.
Arriving in the town, Muldoon smiled as he saw his friend at the gas station, waiting for him. He brought the jeep to a hold and got out. "Roland!"
Roland Tembo, a longtime friend of Muldoon's, was a big game hunter from Mombasa, Kenya and widely regarded as the best of the best. Muldoon wasn't surprised all this would get his attention, he enjoyed hunting big game and the possibility of this creature being real would be the best prey he's hunted and taken down, though Muldoon did tell him on the phone that the creature had to be captured if it was real.
"Robert, my old friend!" Roland laughed as he walked up and the two old friends shared a hug, laughing. "Been several months, I thought you had gotten bored of me."
Robert laughed, patting him on the shoulder. "I've been busy. Got a spot for game warden at another place."
Roland hummed as he took a sip out of his bottle of water. "Kanya not good enough for you?"
Robert just chuckled as the two walked over to a group of more hunters that Roland had called up to help in this hunt. "Six men, eight if you include us, and three cars." Roland told his friend. "Should be enough to capture this mysterious beast."
"well, we better be cautious." Muldoon said as he looked at the large trees, staring into the dense woods where their prey hid, or should be. "I've been tracking this thing for the past five months and it hasn't shown itself, but it has left a trail to follow that has led me here. I have tranquilizer darts in my jeep, we'll be using those. I don't want this thing killed."
"What if it's not real?" one of the hunters asked. "I mean, that woman said it was a dinosaur. Dinosaurs are extinct."
"Could've just been a big bear." Another hunter said jokingly.
"No... it's too big to be a bear." Muldoon said seriously as he faced the hunters. "It's left carnage in it's wake, several destroyed vehicles, hunter vehicles. It's real and it's well hidden. However, we are going t use bait to draw it out, but first... we need to track it to it's territory and let it known it's got intruders." He looked at Roland. "Did you capture a suitable animal for bait?"
"I did." Roland said before he gestured for two men to bring something. Muldoon watched as they brought a cage out, and inside was a cheetah.
"Oh you beauty." Muldoon said as he walked over, crouching down. The cheetah was growling, clearly not liking it's predicament. "How long did it take you to capture this Cheetahs are fast."
"Oh he was." Roland said as he walked over, looking down at the Cheetah. "But, through three days of pursuing, I managed to tranq and capture this feisty animal."
Muldoon nodded. "Good. Let's get to work."
Everyone packed up and got in their jeeps, driving off into the woods. They drive fir about an hour before coming to a clearing suitable to make camp in. Once there, they unpacked and brought the cage with the cheetah in it.
"So how are we going to lure this thing out?" One of the hunters asked.
"The cheetah will do that for us." Muldoon said as he withdrew a taser, walking over to the cage. The cheetah continue to pace inside the cage, wanting out and getting more agitated. Muldoon jerked the taster and it made contact with the cheetah's side, causing it to screech in pain before it let out a calling sound for help, one that echoed in the air.
It was all silent.
After several seconds of nothing, one of the hunters scoffed. "Well that was a waste."
"Maybe we should make the cheetah really feel the pain and call out." Another hunter said as he started approaching the cage.
"Hey!" Muldoon stepped in between the hunter and the cage. "I don't condone animal cruelty. I'm only tasering the cheetah once. It's call echoed far, our bigger prey has to have heard it."
Suddenly birds flew from their perches, screeching in alarm. The cheetah's growls quietened and it lowered itself, as if sensing another predator in the area. Muldoon, Roland and the hunters looked as they heard trees moving, branches crunching, something was indeed moving... something big.
It soon went silent. There was nothing. Not even a bird making it's call.
Suddenly, something roared as it burst out the bushes, revealing itself in the sunlight. Muldoon's eyes as he beheld the creature.
It was indeed a dinosaur. One very similar to the T-Rex at the park, yet had noticeable differences.
The dinosaur snapped it's gaze to the humans and roared in anger at seeing intruders in it's territory. The dinosaur then started to approach.
"Do we kill it?" One of the hunters whispered.
"Don't move!" Muldoon hissed quietly at them, his eyes staying on the dinosaur. "Don't even run."
The dinosaur ignored the humans, it's gaze on the cheetah in the cage. It growled before it leaned forward, gently taking the top of the cage in it's teeth and pulled back enough to rip the top open. The dinosaur wasn't displaying the signs of a beast looking to eat, it was helping free the cheetah. Said animal leaped out the cage and ran off into the woods, the dinosaur watching it go.
Then it roared at the humans.
"Get down!" Roland shouted as the dinosaur smacked it's tail into the cage, which flew and smashed into one of the jeeps.
The dinosaur growled and snorted before walking away, it's leg bumping one of the jeeps out of the way as it went back the way it came.
Seeing the chance, and they couldn't lose it, Muldoon got to his feet. "Get moving! he's getting away!"
Minutes later, the jeeps were in action as they drove after the dinosaur. Roland and Muldoon were in Muldoon's jeep, with Roland driving as Muldoon loaded a tranquilizer dart into a rifle.
"You're gonna have to find a pretty weak point for the dart to get into the hide." Roland told him.
"I know, which is why I want to get close." Muldoon said before smirking at Roland. "Real close."
With the dinosaur, it was walking up a hill towards a larger part of the woods when it paused, sensing and hearing the jeeps. It growled before it began to run with the jeeps in pursuit. The jeeps drove on either side of the dinosaur, who looked left and right at them before it roared in fury as it's tail smacked into one of the jeeps, knocking it off it's wheels and onto it's side, then it rolled back onto it's wheels.
The dinosaur looked to his left and slammed his head into the side of another jeep, knocking it out of his way.
Muldoon stood and aimed his rifle as Roland drove the jeep close to the dinosaur's side. The dinosaur saw this and growled before he whirled around and roared, raising a foot. Roland jerked the wheel to move to the left, avoiding the foot. Muldoon aimed and fired a dart, getting the dinosaur in the side of it's neck, which caused it to roar before it went back to running.
"Stay on him!" Muldoon shouted, loading another dart.
"Robert, look!" Roland said, causing Muldoon to look and see the dinosaur was slowing down, it's movements suggish, like it was tired. The dinosaur shook ut's head as it slowed down, stumbling a little.
"He's going down!" Muldoon shouted.
As the jeep got closer, the dinosaur growled and it's movements went back to normal before it tail smacked the jeep, sending it off it's wheels. Roland and Muldoon yelled as they were flung from the jeep and onto the grass.
The dinosaur let out a roar before it ran off into the woods, it's footstomps heard before fading.
"Dammit." Muldoon sighed.
Roland groaned as he sat up. "Not to worry. I have a plan B. But we'll need to find the beast's lair first."
"Why? What do you have that could bring him down?" Muldoon questioned.
Roland looked at him seriously. "Chloroform."
George was stomping through the woods, snorting in frustration to himself. With winter coming, food was scarce now. He hadn't eaten for three days, and had been going on another hunt this morning when he heard the cheetah's call for help and he investigated to find a group of hunters with the cheetah in a cage.
Maybe he should've ate the cheetah to fill his stomach, but he decided to let it be free. He knew what it was like to be in a cage.
Those hunters proved to be worthless in their efforts to take him down, even trying to tranq him but the effects had worn off due to his anger at the situation, or maybe it was adrenaline.
He growled softly as he arrived at his lair, which was a large old ruin he found in the woods of Canada. He paused when he saw a large slab of meat in the middle of the area, causing him to tilt his head but his stomach won against his common sense as he approached and started to feast on it.
Unbeknownst to him, that slab of meat had been placed by the hunters who pursued him.
Roland and Muldoon gestured for their team to be quiet as they watched the dinosaur dine on his food. However, one of the hunters stepped on a branch which cracked.
George ceased his eating and snapped his head up, sniffing the air and he growled when he smelled the scents of those hunters.
This was a trap!
"Now!" Roland shouted.
Several hunters jump out and shoot or throw hooks at George, who roared as he was being pulled down but he pulled back. his strength being far superior. Roland, with a bottle of Chloroform in hand, throws the bottle when George was down low enough, that he would inhale it when it landed.
George roared before shaking his head as a bottle smashed into the ground and he smelled something... off. He snorted and shook his head, feeling a little.. sluggish, but he shook it off, but the effects were stronger.
"Keep him down!" Muldoon shouted.
Several men, who were on the ruin, pushed boulders tied to a next down, the net landing on the dinosaur who was now pressed down to the ground due to the weight of the boulders.
Muldoon throws a bottle of Chloroform, which smashed and the gas enters the dinosaur's nostrils, strengthening the effects more.
Muldoon then walked over to a tree and brought out a bazooka, loaded with a cannister of animal tranquilizer filled with enough dosage to put the dinosaur to sleep quickly. He crouched low to a knee, aimed and fired a rocket at the dinosaur, but it bounces off it's tough hide.
"Shit!" Muldoon cursed.
George snaps his gaze to the hunter that fired that, his eyes locking with Muldoon's. He growls in furious anger before he releases a terrifying roar as he thrashes, throwing the hunters holding the ropes tied to the hooks off their feet. He snapped the net and pushed the boulders aside, before he begins killing and eating the hunters near him.
"Robert, get in!" Muldoon looks to see Roland in the jeep and runs over, getting into the passenger side. As soon as he was in, Roland starts driving.
George snapped his gaze to the driving jeep and growls, dropping the corpse of one of the hunters and begins running after the jeep.
Muldoon looks back. "He's coming!" He shouted.
"Load the launcher again!" Roland said, driving as fast as the vehicle could go.
Muldoon starts to do so as Roland keeps looking in the rearview mirror to see how close the dinosaur was.
George got closer and closer, his jaws opening in a roar. Muldoon finishes loading the launcher and stands, aiming. This time... he aimed for the underside where there was no tough hide to protect it. He pulled the trigger and fired.
The rocket flew and hit the dinosaur under it's neck, causing it to roar out load as it halts before it shakes it off and continues his chase, now faster and it rams it's head into the jeep, knocking it over and sending the two men flying out.
Roland spots a hook launcher and grabs it, aims and fired the hook right into the leg of the dinosaur, causing it to roar in pain. Muldoon spotted one last bottle of Choloform and he grabs it, waiting as he gets closer. As soon as the dinosaur turns to look at him, he throws it and the bottles smashes right into the dinosaur's face.
George huffed, snorted and roared, which was growing weaker as the effects were starting to really kick in and he was more sluggish, feeling more tired. He fell onto his side, growling weakly as his visions blurs, but he sees one of the hunters come to stand in front of him.
"Sorry ol' boy, you proved to be a great predator to hunt but sadly, the hunt has to come to an end eventually." The hunter said.
Muldoon walks over and marvels at the size of the beast, then places his hand on it's head as it's breaths grow weaker.
"You gave us a challenge back there." He said. "We gave you everything we got but you just shrugged it off like it was nothing. For that, you have my respect." He chuckles as a though occurs to him. "I can't help but wonder what will happen when you meet her on the island."
'Who's her?' George wondered before his vision went dark and he loses consciousness
And that's it for this chapter. I took inspiration from Mighty Joe Young, the one with Bill Paxton in it, and King Kong 2005 for the capturing of George. the first half, with the cheetah and everything, was from Mighty Joe Young, and the second half was from King Kong.
I don't know if Muldoon and Roland know each other, but they seem like the type to be friends, so I just had it be that they are friends and would hunt this big game together.
