Chapter 2: Pretence

Narcissa went back to Hogwarts, and, on her sisters commands, acted as much as the spoilt pureblood who she was supposed to be. Although it broke her heart, she broke up with all her friends that weren't snobbish purebloods and replaced them with what her mother called 'suitable company'. She also despite the disgust, got rather friendly with Lucious Malfoy. He was just as arrogant and selfish along with dumb as she had remembered and felt absolutely dreadful about having to grow close to him.

By the end of the week she had closed everything out of her life that might affect her families pride and history. She would spend free periods talking about the 'apparently loathsome muggles' with posh self-loving people such as the Lestranges, Bullstrodes, Malfoys, Crouches, Carrows. The boring thing about them was that they were all the same. They all talked about their rich families and mudbloods all day and treated everyone of a different blood status like dirt on their shoes.

She of course, was only doing all of this to respect the wish of her beloved older sister Andromeda.

She took a large feathered quill and bright blue ink and started to write a letter.

Dear Mother,

I have decided to become more responsible and to proudly honour the House of Black and have made a few changes I thought you will be pleased to hear about. Firstly, I have dumped all the company that you mentioned were not suitable for me. I have also decided I like the idea of have noble Malfoy blood in me and have grown close to Lucious Malfoy who you advised me to get together with.

I have also bought a Death Eater sticker to show everyone that: that is what I want to be when I grow up. So I hope I have changed to be a person future people with the name of Black can take pride in saying was a relative just like my sister Bellatrix.

Yours Sincerely,

The now completely changed Narcissa

She didn't send it via owl because the House of Black always considered it beneath them to send dirty creatures, but instead she took a spraycan labelled 'household object transportation' out of her desk and sprayed the letter. It slowly faded away and only her mahogany desk was left to be seen. She stared down at her desk, knowing that it was too late to go back on that; she had officially became a spoilt pureblood that her mother wanted her to be.

She grew rather mournful over the next couple of days, trying to get used to this new lifestyle. Bellatrix was constantly in the Slytherin common room, either practising dark arts or having secret dates with Rudolphus Lestrange. Narcissa had been sorted into Slytherin two years ago, only because she had begged the hat to be in Slytherin; she knew her mother would practise the latest Voldermort magic on her if she wasn't.

To entertain herself, she focused on studies and worked her butt off, often writing 10 or 11 more inches of essays than the homework said. She had decided that since she must pretend to be a noble goody-goody and a mudblood hating Voldermort supporter, she would at least try to become the brains of the family.

Her mother had locks of deep brown hair that was swooped into an elegant bun and had a pale face and slitted black eyes. She often wore sweeping black robes, even at home! But despite Narcissa hating her, her mother was a witty and smart witch. Bellatrix had inherited her mothers beautiful brown curls and evil looking black eyes; and worst of all, Bellatrix had become attracted to Voldermort…

Now that she had turned 16 which was old enough to become a death-eater, she had multiple times a week where she saw Voldermort in meetings. She was absolutely obsessed with the dark lord and had somehow developed strong feelings for him; however, Bellatrix wasn't stupid. She knew she had no chance with Voldermort simply because he was incapable of loving anyone, so, she carried on dating Rudolphus.

"Are you a fully qualified death-eater now?" asked Narcissa to Bellatrix.

"Yes, and I have become one of the dark lords most trustworthy servants" replied Bellatrix with pride.

"And I trust that you have told Mother about it?" questioned Narcissa.

"Yes, she was very pleased to see me at the latest meeting and hopes that you will follow in my footsteps and prove your loyalty to not only the dark lord, but this family" answered back Bellatrix.

Narcissa tried her best to look enthusiastic and even gave a try at one of Bellatrix's shrill cackles but it ended up sounding rather like a wailing donkey. She usually hated that she looked young for a 13 year old, but for once she was grateful that she wasn't old enough to be a death-eater yet. She dreaded the time when she too, had to ended meetings with the torturous dark lord and she revolted herself on knowing that when that time came, she would be introduced as Lucious's wife.

Narcissa often thought about quitting this whole act and admitting that she wanted to live with Andromeda and not be part of this horrendous family, but she knew that that would cause hours of painful torture from her mother and then maybe a few more hours from Voldermort himself. Besides, she had vowed to do as Andromeda said and had treasured the letter Andromeda had sent.

In the morning a reply to the letter she had sent to her mother appeared on the table, her mother had great big elegant swoops of writing; that didn't seem beautiful, but a little menacing.

It read the following:

To Narcissa,

I am glad that you have finally come to senses and have seen and understood your duties in being from the ancient and noble house of black. Your sister Bella is the perfect example set for you. She has been dating a Lestrange. That is an equally noble family and even is connected to us via certain relatives which means she couldn't have chosen a better man than Rudolphus. She has also become a death-eater and vows constantly to be possibly the most trustworthy servant of Voldermort.

In a little more than two years I expect you to have around the same life as Bellatrix if not better. I am also happy to hear that you have ditched the friendship company of those who have a more filthy blood status and have grown friendly with Lucious Malfoy who is more deserving of your attention. I am glad you are not a blood traitor like your dirty sister was and thoroughly hope you will continue to uphold the family rules and abide by the correct standards and traditions set before you by your ancestors.

From your mother,

Druella Black

Narcissa gave a bark of laughter. None ,of the things her mother thought of her was true, she didn't hate muggles, did not like Lucious and certainly didn't want to become a death-eater. But, she had done it. Fooled the world that she was a villain. Great.

Just Great.
