To Hold Her Hand
Kristoff grimaced and squirmed in his seat as he repeatedly pulled at his restrictive collar. He loved Anna more than anything. However, he had no idea when he asked her to marry him that being the Queen's Consort would require him to dress in such uncomfortable attire so often...or that he would have to attend so many formal events.
After all, he was a simple woodsman. He longed to be outdoors. He wanted to grab his leathers, sneak Sven out of the stables, and sled through the snowy forests...free and unencumbered...just like they used to be.
At the thought, however, an immediate wave of remorse flooded through him because none of it was Anna's fault. She had not expected to be Queen, either. Consequently, he felt a bit of guilty surprise when her hand unexpectedly reached out to grasp his affectionately as she also leaned over to whisper in his ear.
"Don't worry! You're doing great!" Anna declared with her usual encouraging enthusiasm as she recognized his discomfort and attempted to soothe it. "After this is over, though, why don't we sneak away to the Enchanted Forest? You and Sven can visit with Ryder and the reindeer while I chat with Elsa and Honeymaren. We can even take Mattias as our Royal guard - especially since he always enjoys seeing Yelena now that they are both officially on the same side."
Kristoff smiled gratefully at her suggestion. After all, a trip to see their Northuldran friends was exactly what he needed. However, the fact that the amazing woman beside him obviously knew him so well made him feel even better. Therefore, his discomfort for the rest of the formalities simply faded away as he instead focused on how lucky he was to hold Anna's hand...and her heart.
