Little Inspector Gadget story I've had the urge to write for some time and have finally pulled off. Hope you like it. :)

The full moon loomed over the Gadget household in the night sky, lighting up the entire back yard with the help of the thousands of twinkling stars.
Inspector Gadget gazed up at the luminous sight as he rocked back and forth on the swinging bench. Penny was sitting by his side while Brain was laying in his basket. After yet another busy day of investigating M.A.D. and attempting to foil the plans of Dr Claw (which his niece and dog had succeeded to do without him knowing), Gadget was happy to spend some nice quiet time with his family.
"Isn't it a beautiful night, Penny?" Gadget commented.
"It sure is, Uncle Gadget. It's so nice and peaceful tonight." Penny gazed up at her beloved guardian with shining blue eyes. "And it's all thanks to you."
"Huh?" Gadget blinked, astonished by the comment his niece had just passed. "All thanks to me?"
"Of course. You're the one who keeps the peace in Metro City. Without you around, Uncle Gadget, Dr Claw would have long carried out his sinister plans which would have caused terror for everyone. You're the hero this city needs."
Penny smiled at Gadget. Even though she was actually the one who always foiled Dr Claw's plans and saved the day, she was more than willing to let her uncle take the credit.
"Well, it's like I always say, Penny," Gadget said humbly. "I'm always on duty!"
"Lucky for me you are," Penny went on. "Think how many times Dr Claw has sent his agents to kidnap me and put me in trouble. I can always count on you to rescue me, Uncle Gadget."
An intense frown crossed Gadget's face. The idea of his sworn enemy putting his niece in trouble was one he could not ever let happen. As silly and bumbling as the inept inspector was during his assignments, he would always turn competent and serious whenever Penny was in peril and needed him to save her. Any M.A.D. agents that threatened her safety had better hope he didn't find them - or else they'd be in the receiving end of punishment from his gadgets.
"To protect you is always my duty too," Gadget declared. "Not as an inspector, Penny - but as your Uncle."
"I know - and that's why I love you, Uncle Gadget."
The frown on Gadget's face melted away over what his niece told him. Warmth spread through him over the three touching words Penny said to him. His robotic body made have been full of machinery and gadgets - but if anyone were to see him that night, they would be able to say with confidence that somewhere inside the cyborg police officer was a heart.
Gadget decided to respond to what Penny said to him with actions rather than words - and the actions he had in mind would not come from any gadget of his. He lifted himself up from the swinging bench to stand before Penny. With a loving smile directed down to her, he opened his arms wide.
"Go Go Gadget Hug!"
With her face beaming as brought as the moon, Penny leapt off the bench to throw herself at her uncle. She relished the feeling of him wrapping her arms around her as he lifted her upwards. As she hugged him back, Penny giggled as she felt the night air blowing through her hair as he uncle rotated around on the spot, swinging her around in his embrace.
What Penny was absolutely certain of was that what Gadget lacked in not being an the best inspector ever, he more than made up for in being the best uncle ever.
That was why - as she had just told him - she really loved him.
