Brook groaned. The loud banging of the gong was enough to make him want to bury himself under his blanket. Seth hit the railing of his bunk and sent a rock towards the gong and the ringer. Cole jumped out of the way. He watched as the small pebble hit the door frame.

"Rise and shine. Evil doesn't sleep, and neither should you," he spoke at a volume a little too loud for Seth's taste. At least, not this early in the morning when his mind hadn't had enough time to form coherent thoughts yet. Seth moaned, and buried his head underneath his pillow. The gong only seemed to get louder and louder until something poked him hard in the ribs.

"OW!" Seth cried out, groaning in pain from the staff jabbing him straight in the ribs. His father and Brook snorted in amusement at the sight. Seth rolled his eyes and swung his legs over the side of the bunk. His toes grazed Brook's messy bedhead. "Are you serious-?"

"Down at the training room in five," Cole sternly told the two boys. They nodded and bowed, showing their respect. The door to their room shut, leaving them to hurry and find their gis. Brook found his first, it was untidily folded up at the foot of his bed. He spun into his lightning Spinjitzu tornado. When he stopped spinning, he was in his cobalt suit. Tying his gi into a sloppy knot, he waited patiently for Seth to get ready so they could go down together.

Seth was panicking. He was only in his pajama bottoms, revealing his muscular torso. He threw articles of clothing aside, trying to find his gi. Brook's shrill voice kept telling him time was running short. Shaking his head and trying to rack his brain of where he had carelessly tossed his ninja outfit in the wee hours in the morning, his eyes darted to the closet. He sprinted over, colliding with the door, but he found his suit.

"There. Now can you please pipe down Zip-Zap? My head is spinning," Seth whispered. They opened the door and dashed to the training room. Brook rolled his eyes when they got there. A smirk played on the lightning master's lips.

"It's not my fault that you couldn't slow down in time to stop a collision with the door," he teased. Seth shot a death stare before the slamming of the wooden staff brought his attention back to his father. Paige and Homura were looking ahead, waiting for what their Sensei had to say. The moment was cut short by a knocking on the door. Cole went over and opened it. His eyes widened at who it was.

"J-Jay? Zane?" He choked out. The two nodded and quickly rushed inside the monastery. Cole and Jay shut the doors. Paige was glad to see her father, but her mind drifted to where her mother was. Normally, those two were inseparable and would be seen all around Ninjago City together. Brook's mind also went to where his mother was; Jay had taken the protective role since Kai had been kidnapped. He turned to see his cousin, her amber eyes wide at the realization that her mother wasn't there.

"He took them…all of them, even Seliel," Jay gasped. Sweat ran down his forehead, sticking his auburn hair to his face. The nindroid stood beside him, not the slightest bit out of breath. His icy-blue eyes scanned the monastery, seeing his daughter, Seth, Brook, and a girl that looked enough like a mixture of Kai and Skylor to be considered their daughter. He couldn't help but imagine the feelings that she had to be feeling; with her father already gone, and now her mother captured by the hands of him, he didn't want to know how she was keeping unusually calm.

"No…you can't be serious," Cole commented. Jay and Zane nodded their heads. Cole sighed. His sweet Seliel, taken in the blink of an eye. He shouldn't have let her go visit her father in his village. "Come inside. You four, get your weapons and stay for orders."

The three adults went inside, leaving the four teenagers outside. They shared a look with each other, terror written all over their features. Homura got up and went over to the weapon rack. She tossed her comrades their weapons, then slid her katanas into her sheaths.

"Let's go. We can get a head start if we make a break for it," Homura motioned to the others. Paige looked from her to the two boys beside her.

"Sensei Cole told us to wait," Paige responded. Homura rolled her eyes.

"He's going to keep us here while he goes to try and find them himself. Let's go before he comes back!"

"I agree. While Homura isn't saying it in the nicest way, I think if he sees us in action, he'll let us go out on more missions," Seth backed Homura up. He swore he saw a slight smile on the fire wielder's face. Brook hesitated for a moment, but then took off through the monastery doors, the others hot on his heels.

...

"It's her fault! Don't you guys understand?!" Jay complained. Cole and Zane took a sip of their tea and rolled their eyes. The nindroid placed a hand on his former teammate's shoulder, trying to tell him to calm down. "No! I absolutely refuse to calm down! Nya's gone because of that…thing! We should've seen this before it all happened, but we were too stupid to realize!"

"Are you finished rambling, windbag?" Cole asked calmly. Jay drew in a deep breath and let it out slowly. He nodded, and Cole continued talking. "As I was saying, we couldn't have seen this happening," his mind went back to the smoke visions from 15 years earlier, but decided to not mention it at the current time. "All we can do now is hope that they've found Kai, and that they'll be back here soon."

"Speaking of Kai, what's his daughter's name?" Zane asked. Jay and Cole looked at their nindroid friend.

"Pardon?" Cole questioned. Zane cleared his throat and asked the question again. Cole sucked in a breath and responded. "She's named Homura."

"Come on, we gotta go get the kiddos," Jay jumped up. He was still angry at the fact Nya was gone, and he knew he shouldn't be pissed at her niece, but a part of him wanted to be. After all, the figure that came and knocked him unconscious before it took Nya looked like him. He shook his head. It was probably just a coincidence, right?
