Author Notes: This story is based in the future approximately 4 years. Sarah and Connor meet each other again about a year after Connor left Chicago. Which is about 6 years before this story is based.
Elizabeth was a little girl skipping happily next to her Aunt's housekeeper that was looking after while her Aunt was at work. Her parents were speakers at a medical convenance for the week. Elizabeth had curly hair like her mother and that was as dark as her father's hair. The housekeeper's name was Carla. Carla suddenly heard screaming and screeching wheels of a car, she turned and saw a car coming straight towards them. Instinctually she pushed Elizabeth out of the away. Carla was hit head on by car and Elizabeth was clipped on the side and she hit the side of the pathway hard and feel unconscious.
"Look up people, we have 2 causalities incoming, car versus pedestrians. One's a child. ETA 3 minutes" Maggie shouting within the ballpen. The ambulances came in and adult was a bloody mess and Maggie shouted Baghdad. Trauma 2 for the children that was in and out of consciousness.
Within 10 minutes Carla was on her way to surgery and Maggie was checking to she whom her next of kin and her whom the child's name is, whom was currently in CT for imaging for her side and head. Elizabeth had not yet fully woken up. Maggie was looking on Carla phone for any clues of next of kin, there was a different number of services and work on the phone listing. Maggie dialled her work number as this was the best bet of getting some clues of next of kin. After the four ring the phone of answered.
"Rhodes residence" a man with a deep voice answered. A little taken back Maggie held the phone away and look at the handset. "Hello?" the deep voice asked again. Realising she needed to say something Maggie started talking "Yes, hello sorry about that. This is where Carla…McKenzie works" Maggie asked while looking at Carla ID. "Yes, what is about and whom are?" "Right, my name is Maggie Campbell and Ms McKenzie has been involved in an accident. We are trying to get in touch of next of kin." "Oh my god" he responded sounding shocked "is she going to be …. Oh no… is Elizabeth okay, as she was with her this morning." A daunting feeling fell over Maggie "Elizabeth…" "Yes, Elizabeth Rhodes, she's 4 years old. Oh, please tell me there and she's okay?" Maggie towards the little girl and she could kind of see a resemblance to Claire Rhodes, this is going to be cause a mess for Sharon. "Yes, yes, she is. She is currently undergoing tests. We will need her Parents there for treatment consent." "Okay, I make sure I call the relevant parties. Ms Rhodes should be with you soon."
The minute Claire heard about the accident she called the pilot to one of the family's planes to fly to Convention that Connor and Sarah were at. Then called her brother. He was able to answer immediately, which surprised her, as she thought she would have to leave a message. "Claire great timing, we just taking a break." "Connor! There's been accident. Elizabeth's been hurt." "What!?" he raised she voice, which caught the attention of his wife, Sarah. "I don't know much, but she was out walking with Carla when it happen, she's hurt as well. She at Gaffney. I have arranged one of the planes to come and get you and Sarah. I'm on the way to the hospital now." "al..alright. Okay. Thanks, we be there soon. Hey, Claire. Only Halstead is to treat her. Do you understand that?" "Yes, see you soon and I'm sorry." "Hey, not your thought."
Connor got off the phone and turned to Sarah whom was mingling and now and then looking over to him a little worried. Connor urgently went towards them and sotted into Sarah's side and his arm went arm her waist. "I'm sorry everyone, but I have to steal her wife back from you all." They Chuckled. He turned her away from the group with his arm still around her waist and moved them to a corner. "Elizabeth's been in an accident, she at Med." "Oh my god, Connor." She grabbed the front of his shirt and her head into his chest. Connor briefing brought his hands round to her clearly pregnant stomach and then brought his arms up around her shoulders, hugged her close and tight. He whispered into her ear the plans to get to Chicago. After a few minutes they parted. Sarah went to the hotel room to pack and Connor to talk to the convention organisers.
Maggie after talking to the male voice at the Rhodes Residence she walked up to Sharon Goodwin office. She knocked on the door and heard Sharon say came in. "Maggie… heard about the recent accident. What are you and what you need?" She said as she shood up and came around her desk. "That's what I came here to talk about." "Really?" she answered curious. "Ummm, um. It turns out the adult is called Carla McKenzie and she works for the Rhodes's. The little girl with her was Elizabeth Rhodes." "What?!" she exclaimed. "Claire should be here soon. You may want to be there." Sharon nodded her head in confirmation and that she be down soon.
Claire walked quickly into the emergency room of Gaffney Chicago Medical Centre and saw Maggie talking to another Nurse in the Ball pen. "Maggie!" She said caught the attention of the nurse. "Claire." She answered and walked towards the slightly stressed looking Claire. Maggie walked her to Elizabeth's trauma room. "Ms Rhodes, this is Dr Archer, his been assigned as the Elizabeth's treating doctor." "Thank you for doing what you have done so far Dr Archer, but I would like Dr Halstead to be her doctor now" she stated and turned slightly person whom just turned up and saw it was Ms Goodwin. Claire nodded a greeting to her and turned back to address the Dr Archer whom seem a but put out. "With all due respect to Dr Halstead, but I'm the Interim Chief of the ED and the best person to treat your daughter." "No...No!" She raised her voice and caught the attention of the ED. She saw Dr Halstead and waved him over "Dr Halstead I need you to treat Elizabeth." "Ms Rhodes…" Dr Archer tried to interrupt. Claire turned back round to Dr Archer. "Dr Archer you may think you're the best person to treat Elizabeth. But her parents were adamant that Dr Halstead would be her treating physician."
Will quick looked towards the little girl and immediately knew whom her parents were. She was the spitting image of parents. He was the only one in Med to know about Connor and Sarah being married. "That's Connor's daughter…" he muttered. Claire turned towards him "Yes, so please start treating her." "Of course. Dr Archer, please stand aside I would like to treat my patient." Dr Archer reluctantly stepped aside and let Will into room.
The nurses and doctor's that knew Connor were in shock and looking towards to room that held his little girl.
