It was a cool, breezy day in the beginning of March. I, Percy Jackson, was walking through the park waiting for my girlfriend, Annabeth. She was running late, which wasn't unusual, since we both just started college. I had thought she must be finishing some type of project that many of the Athenians have to do, like making a blueprint for a new building in the San Francisco area. After about an hour, I began to worry but then a flash of bright, golden light appeared about three feet in front of the bench I was sitting at.

"Very funny, Annabeth. You nearly scared me." I scoffed.

"Hello again, Perseus." A familiar voice said to me, which wasn't Annabeth's. The voice had belonged to Aphrodite. I had thought Annabeth was wearing her Yankees cap and trying to get a jump out of me.

"Aphrodite? What are you doing here?" I wondered. She looked very similar to Annabeth, since she appears as your most attractive person.

"I have bad news, Perseus. It seems Annabeth's love for you is dwindling." She said solemnly. She began to flicker and I caught a flash of red hair before her form returned back to Annabeth.

"That's ridiculous. We've been together for the last 4 years practically." I managed to choke out, my voice beginning to crack. I knew I shouldn't be going against the words of the literal love goddess.

"If you don't believe me, go see the Oracle. I'm sure you'll believe me then. I'm so sorry, Perseus." She looked at me with sad eyes before disappearing.

"Wait, no!" I managed to eke out as she disappeared. I looked down at my feet and saw a teardrop fall on my shoe. I got angry and decided to call Annabeth.

"Oh, come on, pick up!" I yelled when I heard a click. "Annabeth?! Where are you?

"Percy…?" She responded groggily. "I must've fallen asleep… I'm sorry."

"Oh…" I calmed down a little. "I just had a talk with Aphrodite. She said your love was dwindling for me and I got worried."

"Really, Percy?" Annabeth sounded aggravated. "All gods do is bring bad news. They can't control us, remember? I've loved you ever since we kissed at Mount St. Helens. Stop worrying so much. Now, I gotta go… bye."

After hanging up the phone, I sat down and pondered what Aphrodite and Annabeth had said. About ten minutes had passed when I decided to visit Camp Half-Blood and see the Oracle like Aphrodite had said. I ran to the nearest shoreline where I had left Blackjack in the pegasus stable I made for him. He looked at me. 'Where we headed, boss?'

"To Camp Half-Blood, buddy. I have to talk to an old friend of mine."

I arrived at Camp Half-Blood in the evening, as the campers were sat around the campfire, listening to stories. I headed to the cave where the Oracle is supposed to reside and found Rachel, the current Oracle, sitting cross-legged and humming to herself. She saw me and her eyes flickered from green to blue then back to green. I stared at her red hair and remembered Aphrodite's flickering image. I must've stared for a little too long cus Rachel spoke up and startled me.

"Percy!" She hollered at me, snapping me out of my trance.

"Sorry… hi, Rachel." I blushed and turned away out of embarrassment. She opened her mouth to speak but I cut her off. "I need to speak to the Oracle."

"Percy, what is this about?" Rachel questioned, giving me a confused look.

"It's about Annabeth…" I trailed off.

"Say no more." She said as she began to ascend and her eyes shone a bright blue as a trail of black smoke entered her body.

"SO… PERSEUS JACKSON HAS COME TO VISIT US AGAIN."

"Yeah, yeah. Just give me your riddle." I grew impatient.

"NO RIDDLE THIS TIME. JUST A VISION."

A trail of black smoke entered me and turned my eyes to a seaweed green, opposed to my seafoam blue. I was transported back to New Rome University, where I saw myself standing in the hallways when Annabeth walks up to me. I saw tears streaming down her face slowly and tried to reach out but my hands just phased through her. She looked at me with sad eyes and said the worst words I've ever heard in my life.

"I'm sorry, Percy… I'm not in love with you any more. I never thought I'd say this, but I think college is drifting us apart. I'm really sorry…" I watched as she ran off.

When I came to, I screamed in agony. I ran off and hopped on to Blackjack as I heard Rachel calling for me. Tears formed in my eyes and I nodded at Blackjack to bring me back to New Rome. I silently cried to myself as we soared through the skies, wondering if I should even attempt to speak to Annabeth or if the gods set this in stone to curse me.
