James Charlus Potter flew up from his bed and looked around his room for a clock. When he found one he immediately began freaking out. It was already 9:45! He sprinted down the stairs that led to the kitchen. He found the ingredients to make himself a simple sandwich with marmalade and crammed it in his mouth before running back up the stairs to finish packing his belongings for Hogwarts. "James, why are you in such a rush?" His mother inquisitively asked him. "Well, mom…" James said, after internally groaning. He did his best to stretch out those two words, trying to buy himself time to think up an excuse when "You forget to pack didn't you?" His mother sighed. James nodded, trying his best to look sheepish. "Well, off you go then, hurry up." James bolted upstairs, praying that he had his stuff in places where they were easily accessible. He ran around the room like a madman, occasionally taking bites from his sandwich while he got books that were strewn randomly across the room, and stuffed all sorts of things he might need at random. He was about to go and tell his parent to take him to the station when he realized that he might need to pack changes of knickers, and robes. So he ran back into the room and grabbed all of the robes that he could fit into his bag, and shoved them. He had 7 different pairs of robes for the entire year, and all he could do was pray that was enough to last him the year. As he looked around his room, he noticed that it was only 10:20. He breathed a massive sigh of relief. He casually walked into the bathroom and began washing his mouth. When he was done, he strolled down the stairs to the fireplace and called out "Mum, Dad, come on, I'm ready to go." As he sat there waiting, he wondered about all the things that could go wrong. What if the Hat didn't sort him? What if he missed the train? What if he fell off of the train? There were so many different things that could go wrong, and he was so terr- "Come on Jamie, we have to go now." His dad said as he strode into the room. James shook his head to clear his mind and stepped into the fireplace. "Platform 9 and ¾'s, Kings Cross Station!" As he calmly walked out of the fireplace, he looked around the platform. It was beautiful. He turned around, and for the first time in his life, saw the Hogwarts Express. To his eyes, it seemed like it stretched on forever, and he looked as the clouds parted and the sun struck the scarlet engine in such a manner that it gleamed in the morning's light. "Bye Mum, bye Dad!" James yelled, before stepping onto the train and pulling his trunk behind him. He tried for nearly 15 minutes to put his trunk up on the luggage racks, and he nearly had it up when "Hey there, need help?" came a voice. James turned around, and in doing so dropped the trunk from the luggage rack. "Yeah, that would be appreciated, mate." James said. He turned and saw a boy with grey eyes, an angular face, and curly, luscious hair. "The name's Sirius Black." The boy said. "James Potter." "Well, James, what quidditch team do you support?" Sirius asked. "Caerphilly. What about you?" James then muttered, "I swear if he says Hollyhead, I'll skin him like the Potters of Old did." "Relax mate, I'm a fan of Portree." "Excellent. So, what position would you like to play?" James asked. "Probably Beater. You?" Sirius replied. "Chaser. Most important position by far." James said. The two continued talking about Quidditch for nearly 20 minutes, and the conversation finally turned towards Hogwarts and its houses. It was around this time that 2 new kids came rushing into the compartment. One of the 2 kids had greasy hair, sallow skin, and a hook nose and was a boy. The other was a girl, with hair red as fire, and eyes greener than anything James had ever seen. He was instantly entranced with her. "So what House would you like to be in, mate?" Sirius asked, shaking him out of his reverie. "Gryffindor, like my dad. You?" "Gryffindor, so I can stick it to my family. Bunch of fucking prats, the whole bloody lot of 'em." The greasy-haired kid snorted in contempt. "Something to say, Snivellus?" Sirius cruelly said. "Come on Sev, let's get away from these bullies." The redhead said, before running out of the compartment with her friend in tow. The conversation slowly turned back to Quidditch, only being interrupted by the arrival of the snack trolley, and the boys purchasing as many sweets as they could. When they arrived at Hogwarts, they stared in awe, and utter silence as the boats passed over the lake. The only thing that disturbed the silence was the Giant Squid reaching out of the lake and dunking the greasy-haired boy Sirius named Snivellus. When he came up to the surface, spluttering, his hair was somehow greasier than before. "Hey Snivellus, enjoy your shower?" James hooted as he passed the boy by. When they came around the bend, they saw the majesty of Hogwarts for the first time. The towers seemed to almost be reaching for the sky and pulling it down closer to earth. There was a line where a stern-looking professor came out and lectured them on how "Their house was their family" and shit like that. Honestly, James was only half listening, thinking of all the things he could get up to. When the sorting came, one of the first was his new mate, Sirius Black. He arrogantly strolled up to the stool, and sat down, allowing a ratty old hat to be placed upon his head. It stayed on for nearly 30 seconds, and then "GRYFFINDOR!" Then, the redhead, named Lily Evans strolled up to the hat, and again, after 30 seconds, the hat belted "GRYFFINDOR!" Then came to a boy named Remus Lupin and again went straight to "GRYFFINDOR!" Then came a boy named Peter Pettigrew, who went to "GRYFFINDOR!" Then, James's name was called. He stepped forward, projecting an arrogant and uncaring demeanor, and swaggering up to the stool. He sat down and felt a voice in his mind "Young Potter, you are an anomaly. Not like how you are supposed to be." "What does that even mean?" "Do not worry." James felt the hat rummage through his memories for an eternity it felt, before screaming "GRYFFINDOR!" James went and sat down next to his mate Sirius. The headmaster said some weird words like Nitwit, and Blubber, but otherwise, the feast went well. The only thought James had other than "This is incredible" & "Lily looks amazing" was "At least Snivellus is in Slytherin." As he was led to the common room he paid attention only to the password. It was Braveheart. He was in a dorm with Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin, along with Sirius. The very first thing he did was carve a JCP into the headboard and then collapsed into a sweet sleep.
