March 5th 2009 - New York
The daughter, all of five years old. Bullied by all, loved by none. She lives only with her dad and never in the same spot. They were constantly on the move and the reason behind this was never forthcoming. Jasmine was told that she was the reason her mama was dead, but she never knew nor asked as to how she had killed her; she knew better than to ask unless she was asking for a beating.
The little girl was hungry, her green eyes darting around the room looking for a)something to eat and b)if her father had returned for her. She was holed up in the bathroom, where she was told she had to stay until her dad retrieved her. Jasmine is resigned to the fact that she would be hungry for a little while longer - she knows she will eventually be fed.
They're in a hotel room, she knows that much. She doesn't know why they are there though. But this is not an unusual scenario, Jasmine is not worried.
A shuffling noise could be heard through the door, thinking it was her dad, Jasmine crept to the door to put her little ear up to the wood. She could hear some strange squelching noises and maybe some grunting before she is distracted by the song she could hear in the background.
"Oh, Puff the Magic Dragon lived by the sea and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee"
'Ah I know this song!' thinks Jasmine happily. 'Daddy must have put this on for me! I wonder if it's time to leave the bathroom' Even though she wanted to listen to the song properly, she knew she had to obey her father, so she went back to her perch on the bathtub.
The doorknob rattles and in comes her father. He says nothing but gets her to get into the large duffle bag he carries everywhere and the one she had arrived in; she was small enough to do so. They left to little fanfare not long after.
It wasn't until the next day that the body was found submerged in the full bathtub. A plethora of stab wounds, a bolt of lightning and the letter 'P' written in blood on the bathroom tiles. Floating on the water are little orange pom poms.
When the local authorities think to check the CCTV footage, they see a non-descript man with a duffel bag leaving the room and a high pitched voice singing tot he tune of "Puff the Magic Dragon"
