This chapter takes place in E5S2 around the same time Tommy calls Grace in the show. This scene replaces it and the one in Ada's house.
Tommy wants or rather needs to see Grace. He hasn't seen her in almost 2 years and despite what Polly tells him, he can't forget about her. There have been others. There are others, last night he slept with May…
He has felt nothing… Nothing even remotely close to what he felt with Grace, for Grace…
He needs to see her. If Campbell's plan succeeds, he'll be dead in a few weeks…
He knows where she lives, where she works. She's been back in London for over 6 months after a year away in New York.
He has sent Finn to find out more about her activities when he first heard about her being back.
Campbell also has spied on her. He is the one who has told him- after he had mocked the circumstances of his injury- that the lawyer for whom she works for, was a widower, just waiting for the end of the period of mourning before proposing.
Tommy goes to Grace's place, it's early.
He waits for her to come out of the building and enters the cafe where he is sitting in a dark corner.
He knows that some young boy will come a few minutes after she enters, stay long enough to eat the eggs she has ordered for him, and leave after his report is done.
She seems to keep some kind of spying business, but not for the police, for the lawyer from what he has found out.
When she enters, he's mesmerized by Grace's beauty. She has cut her hair as every woman nowadays. He prefered them long, but she is still the most beautiful woman he has ever met.
The boy arrives a few minutes later.
When the boy stands up, he gets up and takes the seat now available in front of Grace, "Hello Grace."
Grace is shocked to see him and doesn't succeed to hide it, "Hello Thomas?"
"How are you?" Tommy asks, still acting as if their encounter is nothing unusual.
She is looking around her, peering the other patrons in the cafe, "What are you doing here? Why are you here?"
"We've expanded our business to London, we've been doing really well for a while, we have offices and a club here."
"Hum...I've seen vans with your name on… Why are you in this cafe?"
"I wanted to see you."
"You had me followed?" Grace is sounding upset.
"I've known where you live for more than a year. If I had wanted you hurt, it would have been done a long time ago."
"Then, why did you want to see me now." Grace says, still worried.
"I know you work for a lawyer?"
"Yes…"
"What do you do for him?"
"We help children, women…" she is wondering where this conversation is going.
"How do you help them?"
Grace is now annoyed "Why are you interested in what we do?"
"I'm interested in what you do." Tommy tries to flirt.
"I should go…" she says while fidgeting on her seat and looking in her bag. But she doesn't get up.
"Well, you're still here." Tommy says, looking at her as if assessing her feelings.
"What do you want from me?"
"Are you armed, Grace?"
"No, I wasn't expecting you…" looking defiantly at him, "Should I be armed?"
"No, I'm not here for revenge. I forgave you a long time ago. I still have questions though, but those can wait. Anyway-̶ I don't want you any harm."
"Is someone looking for me? I know Campbell had me followed a few months back, but it has stopped. Is he threatening you ?"
Tommy is now smiling devilishly, "Campbell has been keeping in touch… I bet you're still on his mind-̶ every time he gets up your name must be on his tongue "
"He came to the train station and pointed his gun at me."
Tommy is smirking, "I know you could have done more damage, if you had wanted to…"
"I should go."
"Right, I need to leave." Tommy says while getting up. He sighs and adds, "It's good to see you Grace."
Grace's smile doesn't reach her eyes.
Tommy fidgets, puts the ashes of his cigarette in the asher and asks with a soft smile, "Do you like Charlie Chaplin?" he smiles, "I want to impress you."
Grace's face is lightening up with her smile, "Yes, I like Charlie Chaplin."
"Good, I bet you've never heard him speak!" he says, pleased with himself. "I will take you here at height tomorrow. Put on your nicest dress! We'll go out! "
Grace's smile stays on…
