Fifteen years after the original Total Drama Island had finished, Chris McLean was surprised to get a phone call from the network that had aired it. Despite the failure of the first and only season of the show, they wanted to reboot it. To recreate the same challenges, teams, even using the same location. But with all new teens to see how they cope in the current day. Views for reality shows had never been higher, and the original even developed a sort of cult classic following, which the new producers convinced Chris would give them more views and higher ratings.
Chris, however, did not need much convincing as he'd been out of work for quite some time – he'd aged out of Degrassi many moons ago and for a Canadian actor his age there simply weren't many opportunities these days. Of course, Chris kept them on the phone for quite a while, pretending he was not interested, as well as negotiating his pay and perks, eventually, of course, deciding that he would, in fact, take the job.
Just a few short weeks after the ever important phone call, Chris found himself in hair and make-up, back at Camp Wawanakwa. Making his way to do the promos, Chris breathed out. While he wasn't nervous, he did want to make sure he made a good impression as this was the first time he would be on TV in years.
The script he was given was loose and while he did spend maybe a little too long vamping, he began to wrap up, looking directly into the camera as he announced, "we'll see you soon for this all new season of Total Drama Reboot,"
Standing on the dock, Chris threw his hands in the air for dramatic effect, smiling as he concluded, taking one more deep breath of the Camp Wawanakwa air. He was home.
A/N: So, in case it wasn't obvious this is sort of an AU where (like in my dream world) the first season of Total Drama is the only one that happened. It was a bit of a failure but in the ever popular age of reality tv, it's been revamped. While I don't want to give too much away, this will follow the exact same structure as the first season, but of course will have some twists and turns so that there is still some mystery alive!
I do want to caution you to please not apply if you won't be able to keep up with the story as this is essentially an interactive fic. At the end of each chapter there will be a sort of homework question (for lack of better term) so I can really get inside the mind of your OCs, as well as having you actually give input on who they would vote to eliminate! There will be about 24 spots (give or take depending on the number of apps I receive).
All that said, please PM me for the app or any questions, and I look forward to hearing from you!
UPDATE: I want to thank you all who have shown interest so far! That said I do have a few things to mention!
The first is that I've received a few questions about how many apps one person is allowed to submit. The simple answer is that you may send as many apps as you want to but that does not guarantee you a spot. I want to truly make sure I have a diverse cast and a wide range of personalities, and for that reason I'm taking my time with going through all of the apps. I hope to have the cast list by tonight or tomorrow, but I also will not be putting any sort of time constraint on this fic.
On that note, please be patient. I have already had a handful of people complaining about how long it is taking. Yesterday was my birthday and I am an adult with a job so I can't spend all of my time writing and reviewing apps as wonderful as that would be for all of us. This is not my first rodeo writing SYOCs as I've been writing them for several different fandoms on several different platforms for years, so I gently ask that you trust that I'm taking this seriously and just show some general patience please.
On a happier note, in case anyone is curious about how many apps I have received I will be keeping an update count on my profile. There is no specific number I will be capping it at, but just something to keep your eye on!
All of that said, I am very excited to begin writing this fic, and look forward to continue reviewing all of your submissions until I find my perfect cast! Thank you all very much, and I'll see you soon!
