The following day at the office Andy looked like shit. She had spent all night crying and her make-up wasn't really doing anything to hide it.
She sat down and printed out the schedule for the day and started to write her resignation.
"Good morning Andy..." Emily trailed off. "...Wow what happened to you?" She asked. Even she was concerned and that meant a lot.
"I'm about to give my two weeks so you should start looking for a new assistant soon," Andy said as she typed. She tried very hard not to cry but the tears just kept coming.
"Bloody hell, so I have to fill your position again? Come on Andy don't do this to me. Your year isn't even up yet." Emily screeched as Serena came in.
"Good god Andy, what happened to you? Quick come to the ladies with me and let me fix it up." She said grabbing her hand and pulling her toward the bathroom. "What's this nonsense about you leaving Andy?" She asked while she touched up her make-up.
"I just have to," Andy answered sadly.
"But I can tell you don't want to. And I can also tell you have feelings for our beautiful boss. Am I right?" Serena asked smiling.
Andy sighed and looked down playing with her fingers. "I do, that's why I can't be here. I can't...I'm betraying her every day." Andy said.
The statement didn't make any sense to Serena and she just looked at her in confusion.
Andy began to explain what happened. "...and ever since I hit my head I hear what she's thinking. I know it sounds insane and you probably don't believe me but surely you can see why I can't stay? I can't do that to her." Andy finished sadly.
"If that's true then I think it's very admirable of you to protect her, although I don't think it's at all necessary. When you enter her office or stand near her, I see the look in her eyes. She'll be divorced soon and free to enter a new relationship. Do you really want to throw your chance of that away? I do believe you though. I've heard of cases like this before. But you've got to realise that it will pass. You won't be reading her mind forever. And once it passes you won't be here. Or she might have the next Mr Moneybags lined up. Someone she doesn't really love, so please reconsider handing in your notice and just see what happens. I'm sure you won't regret it." Serena said before leaving the bathroom and a confused Andy behind.
Andy looked into the mirror and saw she looked fresh and natural like she hadn't spent all night crying. "Wow." She whispered. She was stunned by Serena's abilities. She walked back to the office and Emily gave her a glare.
"Where have you been, Miranda will be here any minute." She demanded as she fanned out the magazines.
"Don't worry, Nigel is bringing coffee for all of us today," Andy said as she motioned for me to meet Miranda by the elevator.
Once the elevator doors opened Miranda pulled down her sunglasses and gave her a once over.
"Good Morning Miranda," Andy said in her sweetest voice.
- Well, now it's good. Her legs are gorgeous.- Miranda took in her outfit as she passed her.
Andy followed her with her notepad and pen in hand.
"Tell Nigel I need the new layout by 11 am. My daughters have a recital in four weeks, please inform their father his attendance is required. Also I need a reservation for two next week, at that little restaurant near Central Park I went to last week. My lawyer and I need to meet to discuss the final details of the divorce. And today I need breakfast, be a dear and get me the eggs I like so much." Miranda said as she took off her coat and threw it on her desk together with her purse.
"Mh-hmm not a problem, anything else?" Andy asked while she smiled at Miranda.
-well I wish I could see what you're wearing underneath that sexy dress of yours but other than that there's nothing else.- Miranda thought.
"Okay," Andy answered with a chuckle. The minute it slipped out, she realised her faux pas.
"Okay, what?" Miranda asked.
"Uhm...alright…I'll get your eggs of course," Andy replied nervously, trying to hide the fact that she just answered her thoughts. She gave Emily her notes to work on some if the tasks while she was getting Miranda's breakfast.
-I love it when she gets all nervous, it's so cute. Alright, I must check my emails now. Oh that reminds me of the email I wanted to contact La Perla. I should do that right away.-
"I'll be right back. Do you want anything?" Andy asked Emily.
"Are you insane? Of course not, I'm this close to reaching my goal weight." Emily snorted as Serena entered the outer office once again.
"You will bring her some eggs too. She might be close to her goal weight but she's also very close to fainting. You need to eat regularly." Serena said as she leaned over Emily's desk.
Emily knew the woman was right. "Alright." She agreed as she kept working.
Andy smiled and thought it was sweet that Emily had such a caring girlfriend. They made an adorable couple.
While Andy was gone Nigel came with the coffees and went straight into Miranda's office to hand hers over.
"Here you go it's my treat today. I forgot the extra splash of milk though. Want me to get some for you in the kitchen area?"
"No not necessary, I'll get it myself. Thank you, my friend." She said as she air-kissed him and followed him outside to get some milk. When she passed the kitchen area she noticed Andy's computer was unlocked and glanced at the screen. She leaned close to make sure she'd read it right but even at second glance it still said "Two weeks notice." Miranda grew upset and at that moment Andy returned with their breakfast in hand. "What's the meaning of this? You want to leave?" Miranda asked not really happy about the situation.
- I hope she has a good explanation for leaving me.-
"I uh...I had a bit of a crisis. I'm sorry. Serena actually talked me out of leaving." Andy said getting all nervous again and starting to stutter. She was on the verge of tears.
"There is no time for a crisis. You will finish your year if you wish to get the recommendation you want." Miranda stated coldly.
-She doesn't even need a recommendation she's so talented. But she doesn't know that. She can't leave me yet. I need her. But who am I kidding she would rather go out with Nigel, who's gay, than me. Maybe Stephen was right. I'm a frigid old bitch. I'll never have a chance with such a beautiful girl.-
Miranda's mind ranted as she went back to her office.
Andy followed her and served her eggs.
"Here you go, I'm sorry about the two weeks. I was just...I don't know." And then she heard something she thought she would never hear out of Miranda's mouth.
"Can I be of help? You said you're having a crisis? Are you alright?"
