Andy stood in front of the townhouse staring at the ground in disbelief. She felt like her heart was breaking. How could she ever explain her feelings to Miranda if she wasn't willing to listen?

Even though it had started to rain, Andy decided to walk to her apartment. She dragged her feet and thought about what she would write in her letter of resignation. What would she tell Nigel and Emily when she suddenly showed up to clear her desk? But the worst part was, would she see Miranda ever again? Would she get a chance to explain?

She understood the woman's reaction. Naturally, it was a massive betrayal in her eyes. How was she supposed to react anyway? Andy knew she must be embarrassed, especially since she didn't know Andy felt the same.

Meanwhile, Miranda composed herself and put the twins to bed. The last thing she wanted was for her children to see her crying. Once they were in bed, she sat down and thought about what had happened. If she was honest with herself she knew Andy couldn't help it. It wasn't exactly her fault that she could read her thoughts.

Miranda shook her head and poured herself a strong drink. She looked out of the window as silent tears rolled down her cheeks.

Andy was almost home. She saw her building further along the street and was glad she'd soon get out of her wet clothes.

As she crossed the last street she heard a loud honking noise. As she looked up two headlights were coming directly at her. She jumped and rolled over the hood of the car that skidded to a stop and fell right on the sidewalk, smacking her head on the concrete.

"Ow, fuck!" She hissed as she propped herself up on her elbow.

"Oh my god, Andy! Are you okay?" A familiar voice asked.

"Roy?" Andy asked in confusion as he helped her up.

"Yes, it's me. Now, are you sure you're okay?" Roy questioned.

"I think I am. I just hit my head but everything else seems to be fine. I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there." Andy explained.

"Look, I'm here for a reason, I'm supposed to pick you up and take you back to the townhouse," Roy said softly

"Ah...Are you sure? I don't think that's the best idea after the way she threw me out." Andy said sadly.

"Believe me when I say I've never seen her so distraught. She was crying, Andy. Please come with me and talk to her." Roy pleaded.

"Okay. I suppose it can't get any worse." Andy agreed, letting Roy lead her to the town car. He opened the door for her and she got in with a sigh and rubbed her head.

Roy got in and called Miranda. "I will be back in 20 minutes. I need to tell you, she hit her head as she crossed the street. Perhaps you can make sure she's alright. She didn't see me but fortunately, the car was braking so nothing serious happened...no, she claims she's fine, but she might have a headache." Roy hung up.

"You didn't have to tell her about our little mishap," Andy said, suddenly embarrassed.

"Oh yes I did, Andy. I had to tell her, otherwise, if it came out she knew I didn't tell her, she'd fire and then kill me in that order." Roy said as he continued uptown. The rest of the journey was made in silence until he stopped outside the townhouse. "Okay, off you go," Roy said as he opened the door. He saw the fear in Andy's eyes. "Andy, stop worrying, she cares for you."

Andy gave him a sad smile and walked up the steps as the door to the townhouse opened.

"Are you okay?" Miranda's first question came before she could even open her mouth to greet the editor.

"Yes, I'm fine, Miranda. If I'm honest, it was rather embarrassing...anyway, look..." Andy started when she was silenced by Miranda when she raised her hand.

"I want to apologise. I realise it's not your fault that you can hear what I think. I was out of line." Miranda said quietly.

"It's alright, I don't know how I would react if it had been the other way around. I should have told you right away." Andy said as she followed Miranda into the kitchen.

"I don't think I would have been able to control any of these revealing thoughts," Miranda said blushing.

"About that...I want you to know I feel the same." Andy said looking down.

She tried to send a message through her thoughts but when Andy didn't react she wondered if she could hear them. "No comment on what I was thinking?" Miranda smirked.

Andy looked at her in confusion. "Now that you mention it...I can't hear them anymore." She said rubbing the back of her head. "The ability must have disappeared when I hit my head again. That's how it started anyway." She mused as Miranda poured her a glass of wine.

"That's too bad," Miranda said and smirked as she took a sip of her wine.

"Why, what did you think?" Andy asked smiling at the woman.

"You really can't hear them anymore?" Miranda asked nonchalantly. "Would you like me to show you instead?"

"Of course," Andy said.

Miranda stepped into Andy's personal space and kissed her square on the lips. "I thought I would love to know how your lips feel." She whispered in her ear.

Andy was so stunned she couldn't react. Once she processed what happened she grabbed Miranda's waist and kissed her senseless. She opened her mouth which made Miranda moan. "Was that an acceptable demonstration?" She asked against her lips.

Miranda's breath caught. "More than acceptable. Are you certain you can't read my mind without actually hearing my thoughts?" Miranda teased.

"Let's see," Andy said, looking deep into her eyes. "Hmm, I think you want me to do this..." Andy said and kissed her neck. "And this..." She whispered while she kept kissing her and her hands slipped under her blouse

"Mhhh yesss..." Miranda moaned.

"How about you? Can you read my mind?" Andy whispered in her ear as she licked her shell which made Miranda shudder.

"Let me try," Miranda said as she pushed her hands in Andy's hair and held her head as she looked deeply into her eyes. "I see." She grabbed her by the hand. She led them into the living room. "You want to get comfortable..." She said as she pulled her onto the big sofa.

"Good guess. What else?" Andy asked as she sat next to Miranda.

"Hmm, maybe this," Miranda said as she straddled her lap and started to kiss her passionately. Both women moaned into the kiss and got lost in the moment.

"Mommy? Andy?" Caroline said as she stood in the doorway rubbing her eyes. "What are you doing?" She asked.

Miranda climbed off Andy in embarrassment. "Bobbsey, what are you doing up?" She asked.

"I couldn't sleep, mommy. My tummy hurts." Caroline explained as she moved over to them and climbed on Miranda's lap. "Are you two dating now?" She asked.

Andy giggled a bit but helped Miranda out. "Well, we have to figure that out. You just saw our first kiss you know. But I would love to if that's okay with you guys."

"Are you kidding, we love you, Andy." Caroline smiled and then looked up at Miranda. "Mommy, can you get me a heating pad for my tummy?"

"Of course, I will baby. Before we go up, is there anything else you would like to know about what you just saw?" Miranda asked.

"No, I guess that's what grown-ups do when they are in love," Caroline said.

Miranda kissed her cheek. "You're so smart Bobbsey. Let's get you back in bed and I'll get you that heating pad."

"Okay, Andy, will you tuck me into bed?" Caroline asked.

Andy looked at Miranda who gave her an approving nod. "Of course munchkin, lead the way." She agreed, following them up the stairs. Andy tugged Miranda closer "Are you sure this is okay?" She asked. She received a tired nod. She stepped into Caroline's room and watched as she climbed into bed. She pulled the comforter over her and smoothed it out. "Okay, sleep tight, sweetie." She placed a soft kiss on Caroline's forehead.

Miranda joined them and gave Caroline the heating pad and kissed her goodnight.

When they went into the hallway, Andy was grabbed by her waist and pulled into another kiss. "Do you think it bothered her?" Andy asked while she kissed Miranda's neck.

"No… keep going…" Miranda said as she offered up the other side of her neck. Miranda pushed her fingers in Andy's hair, enjoying their little make-out session. Soon she pulled her back up and kissed her again. "I can't get enough of your lips." She said as she kept kissing her.

"Mommy, I can't sleep." Cassidy said. "Andy, are you kissing mommy?" She asked as she rubbed her eyes in disbelief.

Miranda groaned. Once again they had been busted. "Oh, the joy of motherhood." She whispered as she let go of Andy.

"Uh, yes I was...is that okay?" Andy asked.

"I suppose." She blinked up at them. "Can you tuck me in mom?" Cassidy asked and grabbed her hand.

"Of course, Bobbsey," Miranda said and led her back to her room.

"I'll just wait in the living room." Andy whispered and kissed Cassidy on her head. "G'night little one."
